I was visiting Cumberland Island with my daughter Emma for her birthday, so naturally we stayed at Emma's Cottage House! We were greeted by Angie and she gave us a tour of this lovely property, full of beautiful flowers and bird feeders. It was clean, very well maintained and had tons of character. All the rooms look wonderful. We loved staying in 404 - it was just perfect for our needs. And the community room was a great place to relax and meet other guests. Angie even surprised Emma with a gift for her birthday. We'd love to come back to this gem in St. Marys.

We selected Emma's Cottage House because we were going to Cumberland Island and wanted to stay in something other than a run of the mill hotel room. We stayed in room 401 and what a relaxing delight it was. We had our own private porch that faced the backyard of the property loaded with blooming jasmine and songbirds. It was so enjoyable to sit out there with some cocktails or coffee. The room was decorated beautifully and you felt right at home. Angie thought of everything. We had a kitchenette with a Kuerig coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave. The bathroom was spacious and had a big, deep tub for those who like to soak after a day at Cumberland. Plenty of water pressure and hot water. We had a king sized bed that we didn't want to get out of. As far as not having breakfast, we never missed it. We went to Cedar Cove Cafe around the corner and had a delicious breakfast before getting on the ferry at 9am.

Emma's Cottage House is a lovely property, with very attractive gardens and outdoor seating for guests, set in the designated historic district of quaint St. Mary's Georgia. This location has a 'Florida' feel to it, with moss-draped trees, lush flower beds, and a sultry laid-back vibe. The St. Mary's waterfront, where visitors to Cumberland Island board the ferry, is a 10 minute walk. After we did Cumberland, we spent the next day exploring the town and the expansive marsh land in the area. It's an especially good area for bird-watching. Nearby Crooked River State Park is also a great destination. But Emma's Cottage is not really a B&B - it's a B&MYOB: Bed and Make Your Own Breakfast. There was no food service at all, just a supply of continental breakfast items, which you can help yourself to at any time of the day. The food supply was good quality - with a selection of good coffee too - but there was no hot or prepared food of any kind being served. Having a quick bite, then catching the Cumberland Ferry is probably a common scenario for guests at Emma's, but if that is not part of your plans for St Mary's you may be disappointed.

We attended the Georgia Sierra Club's retreat at Crooked River State Park. Emma's was about 15 minutes from there. The proprietors were so welcoming and accommodating. Our room was very nice. It was tastefully decorated and clean. This is a continental breakfast place where the guests have a kitchen to share. We never saw anyone else in the kitchen. There were fresh goodies each morning as well as coffee and tea choices via a Keurig. It was just perfect for me. The rooms all have exterior entrances - another plus in my book. This would be a great place for several couples or a girls weekend. They have an awesome fire pit with chairs around it. The garden area is lovely with tables and corn hole.

This was our first trip to St. Mary's to fulfill a "bucket list" trip to Cumberland Island. After looking over all the B&B's in St. Mary's we chose Emma's Cottage and are glad we did! We were met by Angie and given the tour of our room #401 and the gathering room for breakfast the next morning. We loved how she had decorated our room; the bed was very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep both nights we were there. On the first evening, as we were sitting on our private porch, we enjoyed the hooting of an owl while smelling the beautiful scent from the blooming jasmine edging the yard.

Definitely a nice find. Family owned B&B. We had the 501 suite with a cute porch. The towels and sheets were top notch and the decorating was so cute. I could have moved in and stayed. Clean and neat. There is a nice breakfast room with a large choice of Keurig coffees and very nice teas, bagels, yogurt, and fruit. Thank you for having such a nice place. It is close to a little down town area with a nice seaside area and stores and a couple restaurants. Very quaint and I give them a 5 star rating. They definitely spared no expense.
