Went on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was almost full, but didn't feel crowded. They have a HUGE menu. Two full pages, front and back, no two things the same. If you can't find something here, you can't be happy.

This restaurant has evolved all of their dishes over the years and everything we had reflected that. The servers were nice, fast, attentive and knew the menu well. I appreciated some candid advice she gave and I took it. I wasn't disappointed.

There's plenty to look at from a decor standpoint and we didn't have any problems hearing each other; at least not until the Maria his showed up amd began seranading tables. I couldn't tell of people were paying them to sing, or stop singing, but everyone got a good laugh. They're loud though! LOL

Definitely worth a stop to this Tucson classic.

We spent the day in Tucson on Veterans Day 2024. We stop at El Charro for a late lunch and it was very busy.
We waited 45 minutes for a table and were not disappointed!
Our server Chris M was fantastic!
The food was delicious and well prepared. Once we were seated everything was perfect.
Today we decided to have lunch at El Carro Café and we could not of asked for a better lunch! Omar C was our server today and did a fantastic job!
The chips were a little stale today but everything else out weighed that minor discretion.
Omar did a great job explaining the food we had questions about and I even overheard the table next to us complementing his service.
My family will definitely be eating here next time we are in town!

This is a must if you are in Tuscan. You should definitely make a reservation. The downtown is the original location. The food was excellent. Everyone who worked there was happy and welcoming. Decor and atmosphere were lovely. It was decorated for the holiday season.

Incredible food, delicious and beautifully plated. Everyone enjoyed their meal including the one who eats no meat and who had veggie tamales! We plan drive there from Mesa just to have lunch and drive the two hours back home. It was a memorable meal!

It lives up to its reputation.
Our party of 8 was situated in a semi private area that had a fantastic atmosphere. The restaurant does a great job of maintaining its century old feel of an original Sonoran restaurant.

This place was recommended by a friend. I am accustomed to what I should call Tex-Mex, so I understand that the food here is authentic as well as different due to the regional differences. While it was not "bad", I did not enjoy the mole which had a charred taste. The Jackfruit on the tacos had the consistency of mincemeat. The flavor was good. I'm more accustomed to chopped. The salsa had a good flavor with a spicy kick. My husband had a vegan tortilla dish that I was not fond of at all. He enjoyed it but it was a tad bland for me. The atmosphere was delightful and charming as it seemed to be housed in an old home, split level with two sides seperated by a hallway that had a bath and stairs that went down. I suggest anyone try this place at least once.

The building used to be the house of the original family who owned the restaurant and was converted into a quirky function establishment.

I highly recommend reservations, we made reservations, one month in advance. There was a long wait at the door if you did not have reservations.

The food was incredible, the service impeccable. Everyone was extremely friendly and took the time to chat with us in the gift shop. Cannot recommend highly enough.
