Desta is a great spot for Ethiopian food! We’ve been to the restaurant a couple times and had it once at a catered event, and it’s never disappointed! They’ve got delicious meat and vegetarian options, so there’s something for everyone!

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, and overall, the experience was mixed. I expected the veggie plate to be served warm, but it arrived cold, which was a bit disappointing. The food itself was decent, though the chicken tips portion felt quite small.

What really stood out, however, was the lackluster service. It was very slow, and honestly, it didn’t feel like there was much effort put into it. At one point, the server dropped a straw on the way to our table, picked it up, and handed it to us instead of getting a fresh one, which felt unhygienic. Despite mentioning that it was our first time, the server didn’t explain the menu or offer any recommendations, which would have been helpful. Additionally, we were told to scan a QR code for the menu, yet I noticed other tables being given paper menus, which felt inconsistent.

I’m taking off 2 stars for the service, as it really detracted from the overall experience.

Desta has always been THAT spot with delicious entrees and sides. It has been a minute since I made my way to this location but the food is just as delicious as I remember it. My go to order is: chicken tibs (chicken chunks with onions, peppers and tomato’s) , rice, injera (Ethiopian bread) , miser (stewed lentils), gomen (greens) and their cabbage.

Honestly my favorite thing here is the miser. It’s so flavorful and if you’re vegetarian this will be your best friend. Honestly everything here is great, bring a friend, and eat with your hands and you’ll have an amazing time.

Side Note: they don’t offer refills. They only offer a discounted price for another glass. I love a refill so this was definitely a big thing to note.

I was surprisingly very happy with the taste of this food as it was my first time trying Ethiopian food. If you like meat, this is a good place. I got the meat platter with the salmon, ribeye and filet mignon and they were all excellent. The basmati rice is so good along with the curried potatoes. Sorry I don't remember all of the names but overall, it was really good. Good portions, and pretty good prices.

The food was amazing, the service and seating situation was lack luster. We were a party of 5 and were crammed into one small table, sitting shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee, NOT ENOUGH SPACE. We asked if they could pull up a table, and we were denied. Our waiter was barely around, often forgetting or taking long whether it be water refill, ordering and even the getting the bill.

It's been a while since I've been here. Abel our server was great and pleasant. The food was delicious and we didn't wait long for our food. We enjoyed the Tibs tilapia with the stewed potato and rice. The vegetable platter was scrumptious! We told Abel that we wanted mildly spiced heat, so they replaced Miser with collards called Gomen, which was perfect with injera.

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I was blown away! The collards and the rice were phenomenal, the spice level of my tibs entree was just right. The flavors were so unique! The portions were also very generous.
