We have used Deer Creek for years as a family reunion location. We stayed in lodge #4 last year and the kids enjoyed the pond with a large dock and walkway. We reserved for this year shortly after leaving last year. The lodge is pretty pricey but we like having a place for the kids to play in the water right there. We arrived this year to find the dock and walkway gone except for the pilings. See pictures below. No prior warning and no remorse when taxed with this mess. The pond is unaerated and full of algae so unusable this time. The kitchen is also greasy and the grill is propped up by a brick. Management is unhelpful and rude. I donโ€™t like to leave bad reviews but would hate for another family to have the same experience.

My son and now my daughter in law rented this facility on March 27th and 28th for their wedding. While looking over the venue prior to renting it they noted that the lower floor was not swept or mopped, and that there was some trash about it. The manager stated that would all be taken care of. Upon their arrival they noted that the bottom floor was still dirty, however with all the rental companies coming and setting up for the wedding, they did not call the manager to set it straight. So they just made sure they did not make any more mess downstairs, and just left everything like it was. The wedding party itself was all on the top floor and outside, with no other guests going downstairs. We, as I was there to help set up and break down the decorations, swept and mopped the top floor and put all the furniture back as it was when we got there.|| Today, April 1st, they contacted my daughter in law saying that they were keeping the deposit as we had left it in need of cleaning. They stated the grill was unclean, it needed swept and mopped and that there was trash about the facility. None of the grills were used by us as family in the area cooked all the food at their houses and brought it to the wedding. As for the not sweeping or mopping, while we where doing that one of the grounds keepers (older gentlemen carring a .40 cal pistol on his hip) saw us doing it.|| The long and short of it is they are trying to sell their properties and in my opinion are trying to squeeze ever last dime out of the lodges before they sell it. Do not rent any from them, or if you do, make sure they are available to do a walk thru with you prior to having them give you the keys.

I fell in love with the creek itself! Beautiful, very secluded and private, beautiful scenery, specifically for lodge 3! However it does seem that if ppl are kicked out of Turner Falls they are allowed to use the creek! This happened during our weekend stay but luckily it was on that Sunday we were leaving so the sharing was minimal! The cabin itself was a decent size! Our party had about 25 ppl! I believe we only had about 2 sofa beds left, so maybe a party of 50 might be a bit crowded because there are only about 10 sofa beds downstairs and about 10 compartments upstairs. Yes i said compartments, mine fit 1 queen size mattress others fit about 2, so 1st come 1st serve gets the best spots! Make sure you pack extra covers to be able to cover your compartments and get a little privacy from the others. Another thing to remember is there are only 2 bathrooms in the cabin so the bigger he party the longer the wait! Lastly, make sure you take pots and pans, cutting boards, knives, blender, etc because all they have is a sink, a large fridge, a flat grill and 4 burners n a small microwave! OVERALL MY FAMILY ENJOYED IT!

The cabins were perfect and minutes from so many different attractions including turner falls park. The office personnel were extremely helpful answering questions and even allowed us to use one of the lodges ponds to fish from. The cabin was spacious, and fit my family of 5 comfortably. You definitely get what you pay for and more! I Highly recommend checking them out.

My family and I have been going up here for Thanksgiving for about 15 years. When we made reservations for this year, they have added a no pet policy. This was impossible for us because we all brought our dogs. I tried to talk to the owners about this change in policy... and their insistence on $50/pet/visit... and they wouldn't budge. We always left the lodge cleaner and neater than when we arrived. So we are extremely disappointed in their refusal to even talk to us about it. We communicated strictly through one of their employees. So, this has gone from a great place for a family reunion to a total bust. Worst now we have to find a different place to go. So bummed by their attitude!

We began staying at Deer Creek #1 in 1999 when we had our 50th anniversary. Our family numbers between 35 and 55 in attendance each year, and we enjoy ourselves immensely. The AC has always worked, the kitchen is perfect with huge fridge, ice maker, griddle, microwave, etc. We share the cooking arrangements by family with each group being resp. for one meal from prep to clean-up then no more worries for the weekend. Works great. There are two lakes, canoes, covered fishing barge, swimming, rope swings over lake 2, volleyball area, horseshoes area, etc. There is plenty of tenting space for those who prefer that. The kids love the loft area. The rise in cost hurts, but is understandable. We charge each adult $50 for the weekend and under 18 are free. Food furnished by family group, meals all planned out, so it isn't really that hard to do. We really enjoy it, but it is difficult to drive the 2 1/2 hrs from Balch Springs.

The stay was good because of the goats across the way. Bed and cabin not in good shape. Not one thing for decoration. The road noise was loud. That all being said...probably one of the better places to stay in Davis. I will not go back because of price and what was received. They charged me a pet fee and my dog could not have possibly gotten dirty from the hotel. I will look further away from roadway next time. Very pricey and meh.

Lodge #5โ€ฆ beautiful scenery outside, beautiful accommodations upstairs in the great room, dungeon-like accommodation downstairs. Warning: request a thorough walk-thru upon check in and again upon check out if you want to receive your cleaning deposit back. The owner does NOT mean for you to leave the place as you found it. She clearly means for you to clean up after the guests before you.
She claimed to have found trash downstairs which did not belong to us. A crushed turquoise colored can when the only can drink taken downstairs was Mountain Dew, a glow stick which we did not even have, and colored ponytail holders. The only people that stayed overnight in the entire lodge over the weekend stayed downstairs - ages 16, 19, 21, 26, and 50, and we do not use colored ponytail holders.
At least six people swept the upstairs great room and kitchen from Saturday night to Sunday. At least seven people can attest that the upstairs great room was mopped on Sunday. And at least five people, including a lodge employee, can attest that I mopped myself out of the kitchen. However, she claimed there was a footprint near one of the upstairs bathrooms. Out of the five people that stayed overnight, only three showered in the largest shower upstairs. Iโ€™m not sure where she found the long black hair in a shower drain, but out of the three people that showered, neither of them have long black hair. The oven was completely crusted over and so nasty that it stunk severely. We didnโ€™t even want to use it just to keep food warm. She said that the outside grill was dirty with trash in it. We never even opened the grill to use it since the local family living in Wynnewood cooked the food at their own house and brought it to the lodge. After explaining all this, she wasnโ€™t even willing to refund half of the deposit. Not only did we pay almost $1800 in lodge rental fee, pet fee, plus deposit, we brought in almost $600 additional dollars to the business for the family that rented a cabin and two motel rooms. It is my understanding that the lodges are for sale. If business is slow due to covid, that is no reason to cheat your guests. This is not the only negative review regarding deposits. Again, request a thorough walk-thru upon check in and again upon check out if you want to receive your cleaning deposit back, and even then, be prepared to fight for it. Good luck!
