I ordered an iced coffee with marshmallow flavoring, and it was amazing. The coffee is fresh and flavorful. The location is near the Essex Steam Train and a Brewery.

We go here almost every week for coffee — always excellent. They have outdoor seating, it’s convenient to route 9, across from the Essex Steam train and they have friendly baristas. And our child loves the rainbow bagels. In the summer they have whistle candy pops for sale for kids. Highly recommend!

I have an idea. Let’s check off some boxes. Local small business, check. Quality product (amazing) - check check. Great Staff, check check and check. Welcome to Deep River Roasters in Centerbrook CT. Let me be clear, this is not some large, pre-packaged, mega coffee cafe, that kicks out drinks. This is, as owner Matt has said "a small micro-roastery." I say he shares with us some of the best tasting coffee in CT. The size of the shop is in stark contrast to the vast number of businesses who sell and/or offer Deep River Roasters Coffee - I know of 12 restaurants, cafes and B&B's in at least 8 CT towns; 10 specialty food/market/delivery in 9 towns, AND at least two local Breweries that use Matt's coffee for their stout! Forgetaboutit! A word to the wise - any owner who serves this coffee will increase business, period!

So, the Cafe in Centerbrook CT is perfectly small and is part of the growing number of businesses in the Witch Hazel Works complex (very cool by the way). I am usually greeted by Matt's brother "Doc" who has to be one of the nicest "regular" people I know. On occasion Matt will also be there and ready to talk coffee. Like many businesses trying to recover from COVID-19, help is hard to find, especially in the winter months, so the "staff" is usually 1-2 people.

Here are my addictions 1. Two medium roasts "Good Morning Sunshine!" is as advertised "earthy & clean" - "Sergeant Fathom's" has hints of fruit & dark chocolate. 2. Cold Brew - ready!? in a refillable glass "jug" 3. To my Rhode Island Friends, Matt's homemade DRR Syrup - custom cold brew and sugar, it makes the best coffee milk, and is great on top of ice cream.

Here is another GREAT thing about Matt, as a local business owner he in turn supports other area local businesses - Flanders Donuts (yup!) Shayna B's vegan treats, Dagmar's Desserts, and Cohen's Bagel Company.

With tea options and at least 12 different roasts, ground or whole bean, decaf or high test there is very little reason to go elsewhere.

The owner was super friendly. I got the vanilla lavender latte. After having the coffee, I believe this place should get six stars. The owner makes his homemade lavender, and it’s out of this world! Best Latte Ever!!

I judge a coffee shop by how well they make a Chai latte, and Deep River Roasters nailed it! It's so great to have them in Centerbrook, and the location is brilliant: in the Witch Hazel factory adjacent to a spacious patio with a beautiful view of the Essex Steam Train. I always get friendly service and a "thanks for stopping by" as I leave. Sometimes I just stop for a pastry treat. It's a great place to shop for gifts, especially before the holidays. Wheelchair and walker accessible. Look for the "coffee" flag by the rail road tracks!

I've been getting my coffee from Deep River Roasters for years now, I used to roast my own or have it shipped from assorted roasters around the country. As a pretty big "coffee geek", I can say after trying everyone in CT that I have found, and quite a few places overseas, that there is no place I would rather get my coffee from. You're not going to find anyone around here with fresher roasted beans, or more care put into them. Fantastic coffee and fantastic people, who will certainly go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your coffee. Do yourself a favor and go now! Unless you're too far away, then check their website, because they also ship their beans!
