I’ve come here several times and ordered something different almost every time, and have never been disappointed! They have a great rotating variety of cocktails and I’m always excited to see what’s on the menu. Foods trend rich and are always tasty. (The only time I’ve disliked something was my own fault for ordering the brisket with horseradish coleslaw when I know I don’t like horseradish- but anyway, know thyself). Pictured are the falafel wrap, flank steak, and some cocktails which I have regrettably forgotten the details of besides that the green one had Midori and was just as good as it looks. Not pictured were a swordfish steak, a delicious flourless chocolate torte, and a nonalcoholic cocktail with ginger in it that was actually so good. (Oftentimes ginger drinks are not spicy enough for my liking, but this one was perfect- I was getting punched in the throat by ginger and enjoying every moment). This is my go-to spot for date nights and out-of-town guests, and the ambiance is always great too. Awesome spot.

Let me start of by being very clear this is a restaurant...not just a food truck, not just a catering company. Its a beautiful, amazing, delicious restautant that my love and I happened upon, only by chance since the owners dont classify this place as a restaurant on Google Maps...they need to! Do IT!! this time in Vermont is different, the state is dealing with mass flooding events and lots of devestation, but eveyone was clam, cool, and just livin' their Vermont Lives.
We are in town for a Wedding and after a 9 mile hike needed food and drink. Most places in Middlebury dont open until 4ish but lukcy for us the owners of the Crooked Ladle were open due to some unique cercumstances.
We started with the cocktials, I had the Corpse Reviver #2 and my love had the green one...The Plant Lady. Now one of the owners was our bartender and she warned us the she is not the normal barkeep. But the drinks were great. Due to this unique situation and losing power the night before we only had a couple options - lite bites. We immediately ordered the Fries and also the Shrimp Noodle Salad. Ok kids, I'm going to say something, and its big...THESE ARE SOME OF THE BEST FRIES AND DIPPING SAUCE THAT WE HAVE EVER HAD, LIKE FOR REALS!!!
They are really great and that sauce, lemony and extra horseradish YES!! HELL YES! Thank you! The shirmp salad was also delicious, tons of flavor and fresh ingredients. We cleared our plates and opted for a Key Lime Pie with raspberry coulis. Very good! We also decided to had a couple more drinks to celebrate our newly found favorite French Fries!! I had an espresso martini and my love the Undertaker - which they pineapple jalapeno mixture in house. It was perfect. HOW could it be finding such an amazing place to eat in VERMONT Well, its the people!
Thank you to the owners of Crooked Ladle - I highly recommend you name the resturant The Crooked Ladle - thats it, no catering or truck...

Absolutely love this place. My partner and I quickly became regulars, and we are always excited to recommend Crooked Ladle to friends and family when they are in the area. The atmosphere is really special, full of beautiful plants (which are all for sale btw) and good vibes. The food, drinks and staff are really what keeps us coming back for more! Right now my faves are the chili lime mule and rosemary pork dumplings. Cocktails and fare have a phenomenal balance of unique and adventurous but comforting and familiar. Would always recommend!

Crooked Ladle. Finally a restaurant that checks all the boxes. Fantastic vibes: sort of a mash up of a greenhouse, Neuvo Victorian astro factory, and Rick's from Casablanca. Long beautiful bar, small intimate tables, perfect lighting, cavernous ceiling. The food is always good, and sometimes it's flat out outstanding. No restaurant can knock every dish out of the park, but Ladle comes close, from presentation to imagination to flavor to that one that people love to complain about: pricing. It's actually reasonable, especially if you consider all of the other factors. Fantastic, friendly service. Seasonal cocktails that are always well crafted. Basically it's perfect. It's not super quiet, so if you are hard of hearing, maybe ask for a table near the back of th restaurant where there is less seating. I've eaten all over the state, at many 'nicer' and certainly more expensive places, and I'd place Ladle firmly in the top 5 for Vermont. Make it a destination first, then make it a regular stop. Highest recommendation!

Amazing cocktails and service but the food was kind of unpredictable and small portions. It’s hard to tell how much you’re going to get based on the menu categories smalls, bigs, and fancies. I ordered a dumpling dish under the category “bigs” and it had three bite size dumplings. Also our gnocchi was oddly crumbly. But my friends got the gyros and they loved them and the vibe is really good inside.

Came here for dinner on Friday, 11/17/2023. We were not promptly greeted, even though a staff member was on her computer at the bar by the door, not acknowledged by the bar tender as we stood there asking if we seat ourselves. Eventually the computer work stopped and we were greeted. Waitress was prompt, pleasant. Old fashioned was tasty. Appetizers of French fries and nachos were fine. Dinner was sort of a deconstructed chicken cordon bleu, bao buns and bbq sandwich. It was all fine. Not gonna knock your socks off, but fine. I would certainly go back for a drink and apps…
