Well, it’s a Courtyard, what do you expect? That’s about how I have felt at all my recent Courtyard stays in the U.S. (internationally they tend to be much better). This property is conveniently located in Downtown Silver Spring surrounded by many shops and restaurants, and a Whole Foods across the street. I do not know how old this property is, but it is showing its age. There is a “bistro” which is not a full-service restaurant but does have some food, and a bar. The bar staff were very nice, although when it gets busy they seem to be a bit overworked (busy in the sense that if many people suddenly order food, they are not really equipped to handle it). The gym is actually a Gold’s Gym that is attached to the hotel, which is large. If you want to use the gym, you have to request to have your key coded, and then one elevator (and only one of the elevators) goes directly to the gym – you then have to sign an electronic waiver every time you use the gym). Overall, staff at the hotel were generally nice, but like the property everyone seemed kind of tired. There were annoying things too, like half way through our 11 night stay one of the elevators (so 50% of the elevators) stopped working or was down for maintenance, but they didn’t bother to notify any guests until days later when they put a sign in front of it (see photo). Of course, the rooms have that awful sticking out of the wall AC, which was super loud and made the room too cold, but then if you turned off it would become unbearably hot. Parking is attached through the public parking garage, you must pay separately, but it’s a reasonable $18 a day. This hotel is just another Courtyard in the U.S. that I won’t be returning to, I have to say, you really get what you pay for anymore with the Courtyard brand.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 days and was pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel and the pleasant customer service I received upon check in. The gentlemen at the front desk was helpful with answering questions and directing me to places nearby as I was visiting from out of town. I like that due to the hotel being connected to a public parking garage guests either need to be buzzed in or access the facilities using their room key. The rooms are a nice size with two different sitting areas and the room had a bathtub in it. The hotel is conveniently located in walking distance to several stores and restaurants and it only took 30 minutes to get into Washington DC from the hotel.

Our daughter moved to Silver Spring fifteen years ago and we have been staying at the Courtyard Downtown Silver Spring ever since. It keeps getting better every year.||The location couldn't be better, with a Whole Foods market directly across the street, and dozens of restaurants within walking distance. The room was spotlessly clean and well-stocked with everything that we needed, including a super comfortable bed, top quality linens and a refrigerator.||The entire staff has always bent over backwards to make sure that we had a good experience. This time, we had a small problem, but Blake did an amazing job taking care of it for us, and we had another great stay. We will be back!

The location of this hotel made it difficult to find for someone who is out of town. Way too much construction. But we eventually were able to figure it out.

Service was decent, nothing more to stay about that.

The elephant in the room is finding dry blood on the bed and a towel in the bathroom. Absolutely disgusting and we did not see it until half way through the stay. No we did use the bed prior to locating the dry blood. We were told my a manger that we were going to get a refund, but we booked through Expedia. And a NOn- REfuNDable clause did not allow that to happen.

To anyone staying at this location, please check the bedding and every inch of the room for items of concern. Dry blood on a bed is absolutely horrifying especially when traveling with young children.

To Courtyard you guys need to do better, make sure these rooms are clean and free of biohazard incidents like this.

It’s safe to say I will never stay here again.

The Courtyard Silver Spring hosted our 2025 Family Reunion. The hotel staff were very personable, accommodating, and pleasant. Special thank you to Mallori E. and Betty M. They were exceptional with helping to plan our stay and arrangements with catering. Check in with Blake, Supervisor was great. Our rooms were ready and check in was a breeze. Blake worked most of the weekend that we were there. He helped with the fire pit start up and other activities that we had at the hotel...and always with a smile and friendly demeanor. The catering staff did a fantastic job at our Meet and Greet and the food was delicious. Bartender was great as well. Breakfast was fast, delicious and offered healthy options. We used Central Shuttle (hotel partner) for all tours. Thank you Sar and the other drivers for your flexibility and patience during our family tours. :-). The location of the hotel is very convenient for walking, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. Some improvements could include microwave ovens in all rooms, larger rooms, and a hotel pool. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this hotel for other events. Thank you again.

A nice hotel with a good location, nice restaurants and a shopping mall around, 10min to metro. The staff are super nice and willing to help with your problem. Jessica is so nice and patient, appreciate it. Also the gentlemen working at the bar for night, so warm and cute. The room is just average, but its location and its atmosphere are excellent

Service is great, parking is explained really well, great coffee selection in the lobby area. I was in town on business and was impressed with the hotel. The rooms are a bit small but, more than enough for your stay. So many awesome restaurants, bars, and stores within steps of the hotel. The hotel is clean, upgraded and the staff is really friendly and helpful.

This place is a dump. The rooms, corridors and elevators all stink like mildew (and food?). There are sticky fingerprints everywhere you look. The bedding is stained. The carpets look like they haven't been cleaned in decades. The entrance(s) is/are incredibly confusing. The staff members are friendly enough in my limited interactions (since I never got room service and refused to eat anything from the hotel bistro). The hotel IS in downtown Silver Spring and just a few minutes' walk from the Metro station - all convenient for my short trip - but I couldn't wait to get home and shower off the filth.

I recently stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Silver Spring and would have liked to give a totally positive review. Overall, the staff was friendly and the room was nice. I checked in on a Tuesday evening and was informed housekeeping was every other day. Thursday morning before leaving for my day I requested housekeeping services. Upon my return that evening, I noted housekeeping had come in. I noticed that fresh towels were in the bathroom and the towels I had hung up to indicate I would reuse them had been replaced. I also noticed that my personal washcloth was missing. I immediately reported the missing washcloth to Drew at the front desk. He assured me that he would follow up with housekeeping. I heard nothing back by the time I checked out the next day. On Monday, I called to follow up and spoke with the operations manager Rowley (not sure of the spelling). He said it was his first time hearing of the situation and assured me someone from housekeeping would call me. The next day Winnie, a housekeeping supervisor, called me to get information. She said she would speak with the housekeeping manager who would be back the next day. I have heard nothing since then.

One might easily dismiss this situation and say it was just a washcloth. However, I travel with my personal washcloths for good reason. It was gold in color so could have been easily identified among the white hotel linens. I've never had this happen before at any other hotel. I'll be sure from now on to keep my personal washcloths and towels out of sight of housekeeping staff that just may not care as much as I do about my belongings and personal choices. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of follow-up and effort to make the situation right is what made things worse. Seems at this hotel, it's not just the housekeeping staff that doesn't care; neither does the management. It's the principle of the matter and the staff at this hotel missed an opportunity to provide quality guest service.

Courtyard Silver Spring Downtown Review (Late July 2025 Stay)

This Courtyard has a secret weapon: access to a full Gold’s Gym. A major upgrade from the usual fitness center. If working out matters to you while traveling, this alone makes it worth booking.

The hotel sits in a safe and walkable neighborhood with easy access to the Red Line Metro, making it ideal for getting around without a car. Forget an item? CVS is located accross the street. Silver Spring has a lot of restaurants and some entertainment to offer as well. If you're driving, here's a tip: use the address of the parking garage, not the hotel itself, to avoid the maze of Purple Line construction nearby.

Despite that nearby construction, you won’t hear a thing. Rooms are exceptionally clean and quiet. The hotel’s lobby is perched several floors above street level, and rooms are even higher, so street noise is a distant memory. It's genuinely peaceful.

One last detail: the sunrise hits this building head-on. With the crystal-clear windows, it beams right in. Use those blackout curtains if you value your sleep.

Overall, Courtyard Silver Spring Downtown combines comfort, cleanliness, and convenience for a low-key, high-quality stay.

Chosen because of location but turned out to be excruciating to access and then wind around to park because of construction. Not their fault but would have beens soooo helpful had this been noted with directions straight to the garage. |Room seemed clean and bed ok- but a hundred small problems and a two major. Geysering toilet, bedside outlets non-functional (plugs fell right out), no soap in the room, difficult and buggy parking kiosk, etc.|Morning after arrival for a two day stay the wifi went out and never came back on. A pretty major issue. A wasted day for my wife who was staying in to work. The other issue is the breathtaking apathy of the staff when asked about these. No apology, sheer indifference. "A manager will reach out." That never happened. This is a facility that is deteriorating, management doesn't care, and the staff is just over it.|Doubt we'll ever stay in a Courtyard again.
