This is a place and an experience that demands - and rewards - thoughtful, deliberate action. Eat very light the day of, probably even the day before. Get there an hour before opening, at the absolute latest. Bring a friend, or two, or three. And definitely keep some extra cash on hand for “line beers” while you wait (or bring your own, as long as it’s a sixer of Quttin’ Time).

The pulled pork alone would run half the establishments in Memphis out of business, but that’s just the undercard as far as we’re concerned. The great white whale of BBQ, the beef rib (or, in Countrymen parlance, the Dino Rib) - puts Texas powerhouses like Cattleack to shame. And to top it all off, make sure you save some room for the bread pudding at the end.

This is a place that spends over 40 hours preparing food that is only served for three hours every week, and I hope that never changes. Joe and his team represent an uncompromising bulwark against a world that prizes instant gratification at the expense of quality. There will come a day when you’ll have to be here at 5 AM for even a chance at the best these folks have to offer, and when it does, I’ll be there with a Quittin’ Time in hand and five more to share with whoever manages to show up next.

The wait was right an hour & 20 minutes on a cold drizzle Saturday , as you wait in line and decide what you will choose to eat you discover as they run out of an item they come erase it from the menu board🫤, luckily I scored some ribs, burnt ends & sliced brisket, it was very moist and great smoke flavor, I had baked beans (2servings) they were pretty good.

I’ve driven 4hrs multiple times, to Texas, to get great BBQ. Now I only have to drive down the road to find Great Oklahoman BBQ! I will have this at my wedding!

Excellent BBQ! Exceeded our expectations. Everything was well seasoned and tasted great - brisket, pulled pork, ribs, bologna, baked beans, etc, etc. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Both inside and outside seating. Not far off highway 412. It's definitely worth it! Be sure to check open hours. You're gonna' love it!

We got there at 5:18 and it was so busy that we moved 10 feet in 20 minutes while standing in line. We ended up leaving. It smelled amazing and we will try to go back to taste the food but you have to get there an hour before they open. It would be nice if they were open more than one day for 3 hours.

Countrymen BBQ, located in Inola, operates on a limited schedule, opening only on Saturdays from 5pm to 8pm. Our wait time was roughly an hour and a half before they opened. They serve food until they run out. The dino-ribs were the standout meat for me, and they were exceptional. I would give it a 8 out of 10 rating. The fact that it is a family-owned business is praiseworthy. They were very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant, a former tire shop, was notably clean and had a modern day retro feel.

My family and I went here on Saturday March 8th, after seeing a Facebook reel that went viral, showing and saying how great the BBQ was at this restaurant. We get there an hour early and wait in line no problem, we knew that was to be expected. almost an hour and a half after they open we finally make it to the front of the line and order our food. the one thing i can say is that all the meat i had was tender at the very least. BUT otherwise there was no flavor other than sugar. The bologna was overcooked and all you could taste was the burnt sugar on the crust. the brisket was tender but had zero flavor or smoke other then you guessed it sugar. Even the green beans were inedible because the sweetness of sugar over powered any other flavor. Perhaps my opinion is wrong and sugar is just the way to go for some people. but not for me and mine.

My BF brought back this for dinner. Brisket, burnt ends, bologna, green beans & Mac and cheese. Everything was so delicious! Inola is not too far away from Tulsa for this. But, I'm not going to get there an hour early and stand around in line. 4 stars ONLY for the terrible operating hours
