We had a wonderful 5 year anniversary weekend here at the height of Fall! It is so charming and quaint. The grounds are very pretty. The restaurant is fantastic. We had a superb, romantic dinner and breakfast in the atrium. Our room was spacious and very clean. We did a couples massage in our room that was stellar. A lovely, country New England Inn that will not disappoint!

My husband and I stayed here many years ago for our anniversary and so returned for our 34tb anniversary. We WANTED to love it again. Sadly it appears not much has been done in the last 30 years. The carriage house is tired, worn, and smells musty everywhere. The wallpaper and furniture is dated and uninviting. It appears they have removed the old paint and wallpaper in room 217 and painted it white and put in new flooring. Great start but it appears they stopped there. It needs a rug, a picture or two, new chairs, tables, etc. the room was big and bare but has a lot of potential if they would finish it. Hallways very old and dated. And the mold smell. The outside deck needs rehab and comfy furniture to enjoy. The whole building needs painting. We arrived back to our from on the first full day to find our room door left open and obviously not locked from the housekeeping staff. Nothing was taken however. The main house is very nicely done. The breakfast was fabulous! Most of the staff were very friendly and hard working. Our first breakfast service was fabulous. Our second we had to ask for many things including silverware, butter, water, etc. but all the food was great! I want to live this place. Guessing it needs an influx of cash. I hope they get it and fix it up. It would be sad for a place of such potential to close.

We spent a weekend stay at the Copper Beech. It is a very warm and inviting inn with a charming ambiance. The entire staff, from the check in to the waitstaff and housekeeping, was exceptional. The restaurant was excellent as well. Just an overall memorable experience that we plan on repeating in the future!

We have stayed here 10 years ago and it was delightful with an awesome room and great food. Came back to celebrate a birthday and was pretty disappointed. Our room (Nextdoor to our last one) was tired. Pealing wall paper, nightstand with paint on it, spa tub didn’t work, although the bed was comfy. A scented candle was burning in the foyer of the Inn and the scent was so strong I coughed for 30 minutes. I had to call to ask it be blown out before we came for dinner. Dinner was the best part- great service and wonderful food. Truly a great meal. Back to our room to relax in the spa tub and it didn’t work. I called down and they said maybe some plug tripped. Nope. Also I was not having them come up at 9:30 to try to fix it. I am a Breakfest gal- my favorite meal- one of the reason my husband picked the place. I found the menu VERY limited and the only omelet was a cheese one. No veggies anywhere. One slice of toast (white or whole wheat) with butter not to be found! I took one bite and didn’t eat it. (never have I ever only gotten one slice when toast is offered). I asked if they had fruit since I don’t eat Breakfest potatoes, or meats and for 5$ extra I got the worst fruit bowl ever! Tasted like the fruit was old, apples and pears cut into tiny cubes. We are “inn creepers “ and I have never had a more disappointing breakfast. So limited! Nothing special, like I am used to when we stay at B and B’s. Even the omelet was mediocre. I left feeling very sad and disappointed. Glad the dinner was awesome!

Stayed here for a little weekend getaway without the kids and we had a wonderful time. From the front desk, to the restaurant/bar staff. to the housekeeping staff, everyone was pleasant, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be around. The room was wonderful with an exceptionally comfortable bed. Bathroom was large and clean. Close to everything. We spend much of our time driving into old town Essex and hitting antique shops in the area. The restaurant had delicious food and breakfast was wonderful. We grabbed pizza and drinks and watched the Mets game in the room one night and had a great time. Highly recommended and we will return.

Visited on a girl’s trip. The rooms were musty due to a recent leak, thankfully the bedding and towels were clean. Jean at the front desk was cranky but Krista was amazing and helpful with accommodating our needs. When I booked the room, I thought we were staying in the main (pictured on website) home. Make sure to note which building your room is in. ||Fortunately, we are younger and able bodied to carry suitcases up a flight or two of stairs, as there are no ramps or elevators at the 3 buildings on the property. The breakfast and dining nook is delightful with quite tasty food. Jose, our server, was friendly and efficient. Overall, our stay was peaceful and restful!

We booked the Copper Beech Inn in Ivoryton and hoped it was as quaint as described. Before we arrived I read a recent review that stated the carriage house room smelled very musty and the wall paper was peeling, etc . I called immediately to ask where we were booked and discussed my sensitivity to this issue .The front desk lady ( who.was so nice and helpful) agreed that we would not be happy in the carriage house therefore more comfortable in another room. We were quoted a cost difference which we agreed to but when we got there the price was more than discussed . We decided to cope with that and indeed the new room was very nice and comfortable The other (in charge ) front desk person when questioned about the confusion with the new cost ssid "Well the first room you booked was the cheapest room in the place "| "Not a good response. !|What I don't understand if there are previous guest reviews stating concerns re the musty smell issues in the carriahe house ,then why are they still allowing guests to stay there.|Unfortunately we were also given a wrong key for our room and were shocked when another guest opened our door . It turned out to.be fine and a harmless mistake. The person was just given another room and all was well.|I will say that the breakfast area was quaint and lovely and the food terrific When we checked out the next moning the in charge front desk person did apologize but we were very disappointed in the overall experience
