Omg, from the location alone, I knew I was in for a treat. Upon arrival, I was greeted and very warmly ushered to a location that was more comfortable while I waited for my party to join me. I was really impressed by the decor of the whole hotel and restaurant. It gives 1930s vibe with a country club feel to it. I felt very elite just being there. The bar area was really inviting with a speakeasy feel to it. It was amazing. The drinks were top tier, and so was the food incredible. I may or may not have gotten a little tipsy off one drink and was unable to eat my food. And it was still just as good the next day. Then, after we finished dinner, they allowed us access to explore the hotel and club. It has really great views and I hope I can eat there again outside of devour Indy because I definitely would go again.

One of the more odd places I've stayed. I was in town for the PRI show. Initially I was impressed! Very old school 1930s decor. Fantastic wood work! Staff on check in was very friendly. From there it went downhill.

The bar area was nice. Not a huge selection of food. Conversation in bar was mainly local people and centered around local politics. This is probably a hang out for many work at the capital.

Showers sucked! Like the worst I can recall from any hotel I've stayed at. Could not maintain a consistent heat. HVAC was sporadic at night too.

No coffee downstairs in the morning and no breakfast service.

All in all, a very odd stay.

The location of this hotel can't be beat. It is walkable to the main sites in the city like the stadium. Tons of dining and shopping steps away. They have events right on the circle which is great. It's not modern. Expect a historical feel with a ton of charm. 4 stars due to a delayed check in experience (we were on a time crunch and our room wasn't ready for about an hour after check in) and one of the women at the front desk was so unpleasant and seemed irritated with any and all questions. I'd absolutely stay again.

Stayed here with a group - this was our base. The hotel is old but the rooms are fully updated, unlike some classic hotels in, say, NYC which haven't updated the rooms since 1945. There are plenty of historical artifacts in the hotel which prove interesting, dating from its time as Republican headquarters in Indianapolis. Located on Memorial Circle, it's a great location literally central to everything. The restaurant has good food at surprising prices for a hotel, and the staff is very friendly (albeit a few of them were not always fonts of information regarding local transportation, routes or attractions). If you want to stay somewhere comparable to any good chain hotel but with a lot of history and mahogany thrown into the mix, this is a good choice.

Positive: The Staff were so friendly- from check in to the restaurant- ever person was so friendly and helpful. The food was excellent as well. This was an older facility but staff and food made it so worth staying. Negative: ""

So the staff I interacted were fantastic. Everybody was helpful and friendly. The exception to this will be the maintenance staff since I'm not certain they exist. We reported the leak in the bathroom the first day. 4 days later it was still leaking. The rooms were okay but far from 5 star. I'm not sure if it fits the legal definition of false advertisement but we booked and were told we had a room with queen size beds. They were full size at best. Considering every person staying in the room was 6' or taller, it was a bit of an issue. The air conditioner worked but only somewhat. It was able to keep the room about 10 degrees cooler than the outside temp. Luckily we were there for a convention so we didn't get back to the room until it had cooled outside but it still took some time to get cool enough to sleep. You can ignore the reviews stating anything about the dress code. While we didn't attempt to go to club areas, we only went to the library, lobby, and our room, our dress of jeans and t-shirts were never an issue.

Was charged $250 for smoke damage from a vape. And was told that the room would not be able to be rented again. But the hotel was built in the 1890s so how can they say it can't be rented again
