Imagine a retro hotel that is managed like an Airbnb. Self check in is available, I spent four nights here without seeing anyone. The bed was comfortable, linens were spotless. Like anything vintage it had its quirks, but overall a great stay. Location was convenient to many great restaurants, I would recommend Rev Mex and Sunnyside Diner just 800 feet away. Make sure to check out Factory Obscura and their Mix Tape interactive art experience too. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Stayed here for a weekend wedding and was thrilled. The motel is kitschy, cute, and comfortable.

The staff is very nice and walked me through the online check in process over the phone because my arrival was delayed due to airline issues. Extremely helpful.

The room itself is darling. Cute decor, comfy bed, and retro style appliances. All around a wonderful stay perfect for couples.

Super cute hotel. We absolutely loved all the retro vibe and the girl at the front desk was super friendly and helpfulup on arrival. The only gripes we had was that our snacks in our room were expired, some by more than a couple months, the cell phone ports didn't work on either side of the bed to charge our phones at all and our tea pot and fridge had mold in it. Other than that... Super cute place. Would stay again hoping that these things will be fixed on our next visit.

After a snafu in check in (they do checkin 3-6 and then self check in after and we did not have check in info despite communicating with staff)- it was great! Super cute and thoughtful design, close to downtown. Would certainly stay again and recommend. Also if it’s your thing The Flea is a short walk (cute and comfy bar w/ snacks).

This place is swell! Cozy, not cramped. Probably how Stevie will decorate The Rose Motel eventually. Everyone has been really friendly, and helpful. Checkin was a breeze. Most importantly, the room is very clean. I’ll definitely recommend The Classen to friends. (It’s a little loud from Highway noise, but… so what? It’s cool noise.)

Awesome place. Rooms are unique and have artwork done by local artists. The area is quiet for its location. Loved my stay there!

I was looking for a cute theme-y place to stay for the weekend while my partner and I were at the mushroom festival, and this place absolutely did not disappoint! It is an adorable remodeled retro-themed art motel within very easy driving distance of just about anywhere in OKC.

To anyone considering staying here, keep these things in mind:
-It is an old motel with not a ton of "modern" amenities. The road it's located on is also fairly busy from around 7 AM to 8 PM, and while we weren't bothered by noise from our neighbors (it was fully booked while we were here), the street noise was very audible. It does quiet down significantly at night, though.
-It is located on the very edge of a higher-class neighborhood (the neighborhood behind it is quite nice, but in front is a poorer/industrial area). I wouldn't say it's a bad/dangerous location overall, just remember you're in the middle of a big city and be street smart. We went for a nighttime walk and never once felt "off". The "nice" neighborhood behind it is also very pleasant/pretty at night, there's a great view of the lit-up skyscrapers at night at the top of the hill and a public park about a five minute's walk away!
-I might be wrong, but I do get the impression that this place is run/maintained by a small team. There was only one gal at the front desk and I think she might have been the owner/property manager? She did mention we had to specifically request refreshed towels, rags, and toiletries if we needed them, as housekeeping doesn't visit (occupied) rooms daily.
-Some of the artwork in rooms might be considered "risqué": it's a 60s/70s pop culture vibe, so there's some very mild nudity and drug themes. (Very hippie/psychedelic -- there's a reason this place was fully booked during the mushroom festival!) I personally loved the artwork and wouldn't have been bothered by it if I'd brought kids, but I'm also building a career as a drug educator, so I'm very comfortable talking openly about things (and explaining things in age-appropriate ways) that might make other people a little uncomfortable.

Only two issues came up during our stay:
-The front office was closed the entire time we were there. Not a big deal, as you can call/email about anything you need and someone will come to your room, but I do wish we could have spent more time at the "Superette". This does make sense if it is a small team running the place.
-At around 1 AM on our second night, some loud, blaring alarm went off in our room. We were in the shower and my partner had opened the door to grab a washcloth from the sink, which released quite a bit of steam into the room, so we thought we might have accidentally triggered the fire alarm; it stopped after around five seconds, though. We couldn't confirm what it was because it went off right as he had gotten back in the shower and stopped when he opened the door to check on it. Never heard it again, even when we opened the door after we had finished. Just hope it didn't wake any of our neighbors, since it gave us enough of a startle as it was.

With all of that said, I've fallen in love with this place. The rooms are on the smaller side but very cozy, the beds are squishy and comfy, and while there wasn't a tub in our bathroom, the shower was open and very spacious. The patio out front is also amazing and I want one of those swinging basket chairs for myself now! If you enjoy making your own fun, find joy in simple novelty, and want to stay somewhere with personality, Classen Inn is a gem! I 100% plan to stay here again for next year's mushroom festival and will keep it in mind if we need to stay overnight in OKC between now and then as well!

We were doing a Route 66 trip and couldn't find a historic, original motel on the route itself, but the Classen Inn fit the bill for the aesthetic we wanted to keep. Some of the decor I would say are more for mature audiences, so probably won't stay here with our kids, but they've done a great job restoring this historic motel, and we had a really nice stay.
