This was our first time at Cajun Steamer. The food was good, but I wish the shrimp had been a little crispier, they were soggy on the shrimp taco. I thought that the happy hour prices were a little high for the appetizers.

Wonderful place! I ordered shrimp and grits, and my husband ordered red beans and rice. Both meals were so delicious. Taste was authentic. The prices were good, as each meal had a good amount of food on our plates. Definitely will be going back again soon!

Server was nice I ordered unsweetened tea an got sweet which is fine it was loud out side I ordered the tuna dip that was suppose to come with cajun crakers but got saltines. The bourbon fettuccine tasted like tomato soup the noodles were to short you could not successfully eat them they kept falling off the fork they are changing the menu so what I wanted which was the pastalya was no longer available. I would not eat here again

I visited Cajun Steamer this afternoon, and unfortunately, it was a disheartening experience from start to finish. While we were seated in a timely manner, that was the only aspect that met my expectations.

The patio area was unkempt, with food scattered on the floor, which immediately set a negative tone for our visit. I had to ask for a menu, which should have been provided without prompting.

After a long wait of 35 minutes for our food, I was disappointed to find that it was overcooked. To add insult to injury, when the meals finally arrived, only five out of the six we ordered were served. We were left waiting an additional 10 minutes for the last meal.

What was particularly frustrating was that the restaurant wasn’t even busy, which makes the slow service and lack of attention to detail even more puzzling. It’s clear that management needs to prioritize training their employees and improving customer service.

Given this experience, I don’t think I’ll be revisiting Cajun Steamer anytime soon.

Great food and great environment. No wait on a weeknight. They serve everything you’d expect from a Cajun style restaurant. They also serve some Abita (Louisiana brewery) beers, even the Strawberry Lager on tap. Beignets are amazing.

We LOVE a Cajun Steamer and we found this one in Trussville. We sat at the bar. Service was great. Food was okay, I had the Cajun Trio (etouffee was good, jambalaya was overcooked, red beans and rice were undercooked) not as good as the Hendersonville TN location... the reason for the 3 stars is the reason we had to leave or we would have ordered dessert and more drinks! A person seated at the bar had allegedly too much to drink, was playing You Tube songs from her phone as she sang along LOUDLY to each one, Suspicious Minds was her favorite as we heard that one several times... then the F words started... LOUDLY again and with children within hearing distance... MFer, F U... over and over. My husband said to the bartender, "Can you do something about her?" Bartender replies, "She's a regular." So, we and the poor gentleman next to us (who decided not to order food after that), paid our tab and left. Unfortunate this is the attitude and sad this is acceptable to that staff that day.

Melvin’s Blackened chicken never disappoints! It’s my go-to at Cajun Steamer. It’s been years since I was there and it’s just as I remember it!
