Easy relaxed Mediterranean feast

Athens on Easy Street is a Greek restaurant in Carefree in the sundial plaza. They offer an extensive Mediterranean menu that pleased the meat lovers in our group as well as the vegetarian. The night we dined, there was a lovely violinist playing on the patio.

To start, flaming cheese is always fun to add some tableside flair. As another appetizer, we had a Mezze board that comes with Pita, and you choose three or six dips. Torokafteri was my favorite. It's a spicy whipped feta dip with chili flakes and EVOO.

I've gotta have spanakopita, so I ordered that as my meal, along with some curried chicken skewers. Delicious. My husband loves lamb, so he really enjoyed his Lamb Kleftiko. It was slow roasted lamb with potatoes and peppers.

The favorite cocktail seemed to be the Me Mou Piece (tequila, watermelon, Tonkatsu, lime, honey). I also really enjoyed the Desert Fig as an after dinner drink (Cafe Bourbon, fig, and bitters).

The only con: when our friend pointed out big chunks of something falling to the bottom of his freshly opened beer that had been poured into a glass, the waitress argued back a bit instead just replacing it. When she did finally replace it the next one was fine.

We love the food here. It is always fresh, hot and delicious. The portions are generous and fairly priced. The spices on the dishes we have tried are never overpowering, but fresh and satisfying. We enjoy eating on the patio to enjoy being outside, but dining inside is good. When it is busy, it is quite noisy.

We landed at this restaurant by accident and we were blown away by the experience. The staff is incredibly friendly. Our server Gladys was honestly one of the best I have ever met. She explained the menu, made perfect recommendations, and was so much fun. The food was delicious and our meal was one of the more memorable meals in recent years. I would go more than 5 stars if possible.

Woah! This dive was one of the highlights of our trip! The food was amazingly fresh! We started out with the olives and pita. We both had a Greek salad and finished with sharing a platter.
Service was incredible and we felt very attended to. We actually would up eating here twice on our vacation!

Athens on Easy Street has quickly become one of my favorite weekend spots. The patio is perfect for enjoying Arizona’s beautiful weather, and the Greek dishes are consistently delicious—especially the hummus, which might just be the best I’ve ever had. On top of the fantastic food, the staff is always warm, welcoming, and attentive. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely meal, the laid-back atmosphere makes it hard to leave. We love eating here before taking a stroll around the nearby shops, and we’ve never been disappointed! Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Greek flavors.

The Best place! Rita is amazing. Sandy and Julie are very friendly kind people. I happened to have met them out with their son. I'm slowly working my way thru the entire menu. Not a bad dish yet! Out of town guests love it. This is truly a family place. Run by a family, and a few visits in, you are treated like family. My favorite restaurant in the area. By far.
