This place is awesome! Very nice amenities in a quaint area with a beautiful backyard but the real gems here are the owners Johann and Evelyn, they are the nicest hosts in Big Bear, and Johann's cooking is AMAZING. He is hands down the best chef in Big Bear, including all the fancy restaurants up here. He does dinners on Thursday and Saturday nights, you have to reserve your seat in advance because it's very intimate, the night we ate there it was 2 tables of 8. We had the best beef we have very had a French style Filet Mignon, an amazing twice baked potato and some of the best desert I have had in years, he also makes his own ancient grain sourdough bread that is so good he sells it to other restaurants and anyone lucky enough to try it. If you want a special weekend or a quick getaway just it pamper yourself this is so much better than a hotel or Lodge, the backyard has a beautiful stream and is nicely wooded. This place is beautiful and run by the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Wow, we've been to a lot of bed and breakfasts and this is by far the best! This was our second visit to the Alpenhorn and it is now our "go to" B&B in Southern California.||||The house is cozy and the rooms are huge! The bed was super comfortable and we had a fireplace and Jacuzzi tub in our room. Best of all was the food though. Johann and his team have elevated the culinary experience to a whole new level. ||||Not only do you have some great appetizers and South African wines in the evenings, but we added on the 3 course dinner with wine pairing each night. The food was insane and it was apparent that they are making this a culinary destination. We had short ribs, special South African desserts, sundaes with homemade Belgian chocolate, and more. If you are planning to stay here, make sure you ask about the dinners!||||We'll be back for sure. Every year my wife and I go to a B&B to get away and this one can't be beat. Go see Johann at the Alpenhorn and get ready for an incredible experience.

We took our children and their significant others on a family weekend getaway to Alpenhorn. It was perfect. The accommodations are beautiful. The rooms are pretty, spacious, clean and well appointed. Wifi works everywhere. Plenty of hot water in the showers and tubs. The rooms come with breakfast and 5:30 wine/appetizers which are plentiful enough for a dinner. The outdoor spaces are peaceful, lush, and relaxing. ||Evelyn and Johann the proprietors are interesting, interested, fun, knowledgeable, accomplished, smart people. The energy that they bring to their Bed and Breakfast is infectious. I cannot recommend Alpenhorn more highly. We will definitely be returning with our family.

This is the perfect place to stay when you visit Big Bear. Johann and Evelyn are the nicest host you can ask for.
The main building is like a huge cabin but gives out such homely feeling. The rooms are cozy and quiet.
One thing you will love here is the food. Johann is a cooking ensusiastic. He really put his heart in his cooking. He always servers South Africa style breakfast, which is included in your stay. I had my best bacon here.
You can also choose to have dinner with them, which I highly recommend. The dinner usually took couple days of preparation. Johann and Evelyn will tell you what are the ingredients and preparation they have done when serving each dish, that all add up to the flavour. I never had one thing I don't love here yet.

This is the ABSOLUTE BEST Bed and Breakfast that I have ever been to! The house is beautiful and when you walk in, you feel at home. It always smells amazing and it's exactly what you are looking for when coming in from the snow! Secondly, the rooms are fantastic. We stayed in Edelweiss. It was so large and spacious and the bathroom has a shower and large jacuzzi tub! The beds are so comfortable that you just melt into it! ||||The food is incredible. Everything is made from scratch and from the highest quality ingredients. The scones and oatmeal and soooo yummy! And the bacon is some of the best I've ever had. Not only do they serve you breakfast, but they also offer appetizers and wine in the evening. Johann is a gourmet chef and we were wowed by the appetizers each night. ||||In addition, our group of friends asked Johann to prepare dinner for us each night which was the absolute highlight of the trip! The food was better than any restaurant and the care and quality that Johann puts into the food is evident. He included wine pairings for each course as well. ||Some of our favorite courses were the butternut squash soup, beef short ribs, pork belly, twice baked potatoes, hand cut pasta, lemon piccata chicken...just to name a few. If you go here, definitely add on the dinner!||||My husband and I have been to many bed and breakfasts over the years and we now will only come here because Johann has set the bar so high that no others compare!||||I highly recommend this!

We just returned from a wonderful long weekend at the Alpenhorn. Johann and his team were wonderful hosts. Our room was huge, clean and comfortable. The view was very serene and calming. The common areas were spacious and allowed for us to spend some much needed time with friends. ||||The food was delicious! We enjoyed so many meals over the course of our stay. They were all unique and delicious. ||||Thank you for the memories!!!

My wife and I stayed at this bed and breakfast Inn for 3 nights. It is located in a very quiet and beautiful location, and easily accessible to all the local amenities and restaurants and not too far from the village. Yohan and Evelyn were very welcoming. They ensured that we had a very pleasant stay. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding and the afternoon appetizers were equally delicious. The wine in the afternoon was very good. Our room was very clean and spacious and we greatly enjoyed the spa in the room. Overall we found our experience to be extremely good and would highly recommend this location to anyone visiting Big Bear.

This is a wonderful B&B! The food is really a highlight. We opted to have Johann and his team create a dinner for our group each night, and it was truly a gourmet dining experience. In addition, there is a gourmet breakfast every morning, and it really cannot be more delicious. ||They accommodated our large group of ten adults and four kids with ease. Thanks for the hospitality, Alpenhorn!
