Coffee dates, coffee mugs, coffee signs, coffee drinks and coffee trails are definitely an adventure so I couldn’t agree more with the name of this cafe, Adventure Awaits Coffee.

First, the barista at this cafe was probably the friendliest one in Bakersfield. As I write this I realize I need to start getting names of these awesome folks who create my cortados. Secondly, the shop has a ton of natural light and makes it a lovely spot to work remotely from or chat it up with a friend. The fun part of this cafe are all the coffee signs throughout it. You know the signs; the ones with clever sayings that make you wonder if the maker was reading your mind or has an inside scoop to your life. These signs were so captivating even my 20 year old non-coffee drinker (bless his heart) was enjoying and pointing out the signs. Most importantly, the cortado was tasty and I would definitely return to this shop!

What a cute place! There were a lot of regulars who came in while we were there, which is a testament to how good it is. The atmosphere is cheery and the barista was really sweet and friendly. There are detailed explanations on the wall of what is in each specialty coffee, but the barista also helped answer further questions. The specialty coffees we ordered were absolutely delicious and served us well as dessert. We had a tough time deciding what to try as there were so many unusual options so we will have to keep going back until we have tried them all. Great place! I highly recommend.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got the chance last weekend. I went on a Saturday around 11:30 AM and the place was packed. I asked the staff about the ube Vietnamese iced coffee I had seen on their social media and the girl at the counter pointed to a flyer showing drinks made with ube cold foam.

I asked what type of milk was in it and she told me it was dairy-free aside from a small amount of condensed milk drizzled on the cup, which I can tolerate. I decided to order it and paid the $2 upcharge for the ube cold foam. My total was $8.66.

However, when I got my drink, there was no bright purple ube foam like the photos. I didn’t want to make a fuss, especially since it was so busy, so I convinced myself that maybe it was mixed in or drizzled on the side of the cup.. but I definitely didn’t get what I paid for.

A couple days later I went back to give them another chance hoping for a better experience. This time a different employee helped me and when I ordered the same drink, she asked if I wanted a milk alternative. I was confused since the first person told me it was already dairy-free (aside from the condensed milk). She explained that the drink usually comes with whole milk, but they could substitute oat milk for an extra $1.

That made me question the accuracy of the information I was given the first time. In total I ended up paying $9.74 for a 16oz drink with oat milk — which just feels way overpriced given the confusion, lack of consistency, and the fact that I didn’t even get the ube cold foam the first time.

The coffee itself tasted good, but the experience left a lot to be desired. I really wanted to love this spot but the inconsistencies and pricing made it hard to justify coming back again.

It was a little disorganized when we first walked in , kinda wasn't sure where to start. It was late Sunday morning and pretty busy, but we were greeted with a friendly smile. We had to wait a little longer than I'd like to, but I wasn't in a hurry, so it wasn't that big of a deal. I'm glad I did wait, though, because it was worth it ! My wife and I both thought it to be one of the better drinks we have had in all of our stops. I got the cold Vietnamese coffee, and she got the dirty chai . The total was about 15 bucks, so kinda normal compared to the Starbucks and dutch bros.

One of the best coffee spots in town! Very delicious! Trying a green ice tea today with honey, it’s minty fresh. For a hot beverage Café De La Olla, love this unique flavor. Highly recommend Adventure Waits to locals and visitors for sit in coffee 🌿

They have great drinks, their flavored cold brews are infused rather than relying on flavored syrups. A big negative however, it seems their A/C is broken, I was there on a Sunday afternoon recently and the internal temp of the store was 87 degrees, definitely not pleasant to hang out in.

Amazing coffee! We got to meet the owner and hear his story. He knows what he's doing and I love the simple ambiance. He definitely put his soul in the menu and I appreciate the dedication put into the products. This place will do great and it's such a good addition to downtown Bakersfield. They sell local goods inside and you can purchase some of their beans. I'm glad they are open later since it's not common. Perfect for a post dinner or morning espresso and snack.

Evertime I come here I have a great experience. Coffee is great quality, well roasted and consistent. The staff is knowledgeable, kind and always smiling. You can tell there is great morale among the staff and I believe that is trickled down from great leadership. Would much rather come here than give my money to Starbucks 🙂 Support Small Business!
