A Tailor's Lodging was a lovely place for us to stay. It is the perfect size for a couple, beautifully restored and very comfortable. The fireplace was so cozy and the bed extremely comfortable, dressed with wonderful linens. The location is just perfect for everything from riding or walking the Creeper Trail, local shopping and dining as well as taking in a show at the Barter Theater. Rick is the consummate host! He wants to make sure you have the best stay possible.

We had an absolutely splendid stay at Tailor's Lodging. Rick was incredibly gracious and welcoming. Everything from the booking on forward was amazing. The house itself is beautiful and meticulously restored. It's spacious, super clean, and within walking distance to restaurants and coffee, basically one block off of downtown Abingdon. I can't recommend this place highly enough for a weekend getaway.

A Taylor’s Lodge offered an amazing stay for us! Rick was a wealth of knowledge and offered lots of recommendations. |The inn it’s self was beautiful and clean! Such a cool layout with a beautiful porch. We stayed in the cottage which was beautiful and had a gorgeous patio. |We will definitely be returning to Abingdon and A Taylor’s Lodge!

We stayed at the Black Dog Inn, which is another house these owners have. We were here for three nights for our anniversary. We were greeted by Rick,Susan, and Hadley, their black dog! They greeted us with a wonderful tour of the circa 1834 historical house and a chilled bottle of champagne. We loved staying here. Rick and Susan are the perfect hosts recommending many restaurants and things to do in the area. The bed was very comfortable and our room was large and very nice. We loved staying here and highly recommend it. We were especially intrigued with the old original rooms in the house. I’ve attached pictures.

Wonderful!!! Very comfortable, well appointed, quiet …. Enjoyed every minute of our 3 night stay in the cute little courtyard cottage! Rick and Susan are fantastic hosts! Very well situated to the VA Creeper Trail Terminus, the Urban Pathway and the historic area of Abingdon.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Black Dog Inn, sister inn to A Tailors Lodging. We stayed in the Blue Room which was just lovely with a large, newly remodeled,en-suite bath on the second floor of the house. Our friends had the king room down the hall, which was equally as nice. There is a third room which was a bit smaller, but just as pretty that has a private bath, although it is outside of the room, requiring a short walk down the hall. The house is so pretty, nicely furnished and comfortable. We enjoyed time spent in the common areas and on the porches. Part of our party were staying in the private cottage at A Tailors Inn and that was very nice too and just a short one minute walk from the Black Dog. So if you have a larger party and need to book into both inns do not hesitate to do so, as in reality they feel as if they are one property. Although breakfast is not served we really appreciated the complimentary orange juice, coffee, water, and soft drinks. The mini fridge was large enough that we could store a little wine and beer in there too:) The innkeepers, Rick and Susan, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They had great recommendations and suggestions. We truly felt like welcomed guests into their home. |The location of the Inn is perfect. Everything you would want to do is within walking distance. On the “not to miss list”: riding the Virginia Creeper Trail from White Top to either Damascus (with shuttle pick up) or all the way to Abingdon if you are more adventurous, Pecan 128 and Peppermill restaurants, Wolf Hill Brewery and a show at the Barter Theater. Abingdon is a great small town and the Black Dog Inn is the perfect place to stay. We just left this morning and look forward to returning soon!

Beautiful place to stay. One upstairs room that's a little more 'of the olde days' with a separate bathroom, one downstairs somewhat more modern room with a bathroom included. Mid-level has various sitting areas and kitchen. It's decked out with a bit of a period feel. There's a spacious patio and deck. Adorable cottage available as well. WiFi, cable TV. Very comfortable, good location near the creeper trail and the Barter Theatre. Owner is very nice and accommodating. He and his wife are just such good people and they have always taken such good care of us.

I knew as soon as I clicked on the website that this was going to be the perfect place to stay during our time in Abingdon. And it surely was. We chose the Tailor's Shop, which is the private suite in the charming little building in the courtyard. It was very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed as a temporary home away from home. The location is ideal for either a nice walk or short drive to Abingdon's restaurants and shops and other attractions. It's just up the road from a fantastic Food City grocery store where we took advantage of the soup & salad bars one evening for supper when we just wanted to sit out in the courtyard with a light meal. Rick and Susan made us feel welcome from the start, and are extremely knowledgeable about the offerings of the area. Without a doubt, we will stay at A Tailor's Lodging if ever in Abingdon again.
