The Inn at Castle Rock - Bisbee, Arizona

I love the funky, eclectic nature of this place, but at the end of the day it’s a hotel. Our room, The Victorian was pretty small, Euro-style…had a decent enough King bed, but the room itself is so tired, like, exhausted. It probably hasn’t had an update since Victorian times, which is quaint on the one hand, but just smells disgusting when you come right down to it. It smells like the wood is rotten, the plaster is rotten and I would not stay there again. The bathroom is functional and also very dated, not in a claw foot tub-charming way, but barely works kind of way. The woman who was managing the place was super kind and helpful, and we appreciated the funky gathering places and breakfast hangout. This place is really a hostel not an Inn and if it was $65 that would be fine but at $125 on a Wednesday night, I would look elsewhere. The location is great and the quirky mineshaft in the lobby is super cool.

We stayed here 2 nights. We did some research before booking, and we knew the inn was over 100 years old so my 4 stars are based on expectations. There are few amenities, and we knew that. The place is authentically old, and we knew that. Creaking floors, squeaky door hinges, Adequate but not fantastic shower.

These are the reasons we stay in old historic buildings.

Please before you book know what you are booking. If you book a room in a building that is more than 130 years old don't show up complaining it isn't the Hilton. There are no tvs in the rooms, there is no elevator, They know it and so did you.

Things of note. Parking is public parking on the street, first come first served. Breakfast is, honestly not sure. Toast and cereal maybe?

I would not recommend this hotel, yes it’s a good location but find another hotel in Bisbee to stay. The rooms were outdated it felt like you staying in an old relatives house with old sheets and bedspreads. Tried to plug in the space heater and it blew the fuses. The. They charged me $75 just to clean or replace old second hand sheets because one of the kids had a bloody nose and didn’t tell us. They called and said they had to charge me. Apparently they don’t know how to clean bedding appropriately and want to charge $75 for twin bed sheets. It’s outrageous. STAY FAR AWAY from this poorly run hotel!

I would recommend the Inn at Castle Rock to everyone I know. The Inn is cozy and very much like home. The Staff is wonderful and accommodating. I love that there are no televisions in the rooms. It gives you time to actually spend time and talk with who you are there with.

Others reported a musty smell. It smelled just like you'd expect a 100 year old hotel to smell. But I likened it to how a used book smells after trading through hundreds of hands.

The place was clean, EXTREMELY quiet, and the staff was very friendly. Located at the start of the downtown district, it's within walking distance to just about everything.

I loved the whimsy of the place. Almost like it was lost in time with a bunch of extra stuff throughout history made it's home here.

I would and probably will end up staying there again.

I stayed here with my sis during a short girls' vacay/getaway. She was paying, so she picked the hotel. I was fine with staying here. It's an interesting place.

Our room was quite small. The bed took up most of the room. It was ok though because we were only using the room to sleep in. We were in town to explore, not to stay in the room.

The decor was kind of strange, and the curtains were particularly bizarre. I wondered if it were purposely decorated to make us think of a bordello.

I thought we might see a ghost here. If any place is likely to harbor ghosts, this is it. However, my sis adamantly did NOT want to encounter a ghost. She got her way, because we slept well with no otherworldly disturbances.

We had a charming stay at the Castlerock Inn, a quaint little hotel nestled against a hill. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to explore Bisbee, but we will definitely return and stay at the Castlerock Inn again. After watching some YouTube videos, I discovered that there is a trail behind the inn, along with plenty of spooky history. They even keep a "ghost sighting" book on the second level where guests can share their experiences.

We stayed in the “Crying Shame” room, which had a Paris theme. Although I didn't personally encounter anything supernatural, my girls felt like there was someone or something in their bunk bedroom.

Very comfortable hotel, very welcoming and super neat to explore! Common rooms, balconies, little paths were all very neat. Not a lot of amenities in your room but made up with what was in the common kitchens. No stove, yes microwave, refrigerator, kettle. If you are bothered by out of date and a little dusty then you won’t like this but the neat little spots more than made up for the out of dateness of it.
