My daughter got married in Santa Barbara and we had part of the wedding party stay at The Upham Hotel. I can not say enough wonderful things about this beautiful hotel. The location was perfect, the rooms were very clean and well appointed, and every employee we ran into was so friendly and kind. We will definitely be looking to stay at The Upham Hotel for our future travels to Santa Barbara.

We had the pleasure of staying in a beautiful, quaint Queen Bungalow for 1 night. Very convenient to park off the street, meant we could leave sporting equipment in the car and it was safe. Great location, easy to meander down the street and explore. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The gardens were absolutely delightful and the whole property felt tranquil and inviting. Bungalow was very clean with a cute verandah. It was on the small side, but for 1 night was ideal. If you are staying for longer, perhaps require a room / bungalow with a little more space for luggage. We had pastries, fruit and tea/coffee for breakfast in the sunroom off reception which was perfect for us. Restaurant was not open. I would recommend this gorgeous property to people visiting Santa Barbara, it was postcard pretty.

Lovely, elegant and unique historic property conveniently located in downtown Santa Barbara. Grounds are meticulously maintained, staff is helpful and courteous. Beds are very comfortable and hotel is quiet. Great place for a romantic getaway. Restaurant was closed for an ownership transition, but continental breakfast, afternoon manager's wine reception and evening cookies made the stay very pleasant. |Tip: March is a great time to visit Santa Barbara. Prices are reasonable and not crowded!

I absolutely loved my stay at The Upham! My most favorite parts were the beautiful continental breakfast in the sun room every morning, and the large gorgeous garden. It was absolutely heavenly. Thank you everyone for the loveliest stay, I can’t wait to come back!

The Upham is a quaint, historical hotel with lots of character. I have stayed there many times before living in Santa Barbara, coming up from LA. This visit I was coming from Europe where I moved some 6 years ago. I found the hotel had the same charm as the old days but missing the charm it used to possess. It was lacking some nice details that I had loved, things felt more generic. As a designer, I look forward to unique and comfortable experiences. Anna, Veronica, Irving and Mario were excellent with their customer service and was so appreciated. There were other staff members who maybe were less experienced in customer service. I think it will be wonderful when Louie’s restaurant reopens, it will give the place more energy. I miss milk being served with the evening cookies, and also more of a continental breakfast. I did appreciate the selection of wines offered during happy hour, it used to be basic Chablis and cheese. It would be amazing if the wines were all Santa Barbara local vineyards offered. The rooms were comfortable and super clean but missing antique charm touches. All in all, I was happy to revisit one of my favorite places with never forgotten memories.

This is my second stay at the Upham within the last 6 months. After my stay in December I was so happy I could write that the Upham was even better than it was when I stayed here ,any times with my husband over a 20,year period. This was a girls trip to celebrate my good friend’s 75th birthday. The hotel, room, grounds and staff were all wonderful but I have to report that there was a very steep decline in happy hour, breakfast and evening cookies. For Happy hour there was I choice of white wine and 2 reds. In December there were 4 of each. Also there was no salami, cheese or crackers. In December it was plentiful, and went well with the different wines you could tryand gave us a chance to interact with the lovely staff. Packaged Oreos are not a good choice for evening cookies. Now for breakfast. There were tasteless, gummy muffins that were not edible. In December there were delicious muffins and scones. Small lovey hotels like the Upham ar emoted for, their wine tastings, snack and breakfast items giving guests little treat u like a chain hotel. Please fix this asap and bring back the lovely Upham experience.

The Upham creates the atmosphere of a cozy seaside village. Most rooms have their own gated patio that acts as their front door. The organization is unique and not cookie cutter. The vegetation is lush and vibrant. Everything is beautiful. We are here for a wedding and it is truly picturesque.

During our stay, Anna at the front desk made our entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we checked in, she went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome and well taken care of. Anna was not only friendly and professional, but she also provided us with excellent recommendations on the best places to visit and things to do which truly enhanced our trip.

Her knowledge of the area, coupled with her genuine enthusiasm and willingness to help, stood out every night she was on duty. Anna’s remarkable service and warm demeanor made us feel right at home. She’s an incredible asset to the hotel, and we can’t thank her enough for her exceptional hospitality.

We’ll definitely be back!
