The owner of this place and his kids are awesome. Ended up here years ago with my now wife after the Benbow art & music fest. We were the only ones staying there and we had a good breakfast with the owner and his kids the next morning before we headed home to Willits.

I would never consider staying here due to the high price for the conditions.

Here are my concerns with this property:
1) The door to the inn was locked upon arrival. A note by the door gave a phone number to call or text, but with no data service in this Redwoods Yeti location, not happening. The front door had been a glass door, blown out, and covered with cardboard and a blanket. The only way we got someone to the door was to lay on our car horn.
2) I'm not sure of the odor in the check-in area - maybe weeks-old weed-infused dirty carpet?
3) This place could use a lot of TLC. Upgrades are needed for the price charged for a room for the night - such as remove the carpets, install Wifi, make sure your TVs work, replace the ripped bed coverings, offer the breakfast your listing says is included, and adjust the price accordingly.
4) The lack of Wifi would not be as big of an issue if any of our phones had data service on this part of the Avenue of the Giants. But, without Wifi or data, I felt isolated. What if we had an emergency or if someone needed to contact us? It's not like you can go to the front desk to ask for help.
5) Hwy 101 backs up - literally - to the inn. You can see vehicle lights and hear road traffic noise all night long. So much for a good night's sleep.
6) The owner shared that the building's location used to be an old stagecoach stop. It's a shame this building hasn't seen any updates since then.

The primary reason we stayed here was due to the inn's location on the Avenue of the Giants. But after talking to locals, we heard several times to stay in Miranda or Garberville. If I ever make my way to this part of California again, I'll keep that in mind.

Best kept secret!! If you enjoy a peaceful, laid back place to stay this is it. A five star hotel, no. We loved sitting on the front porch overlooking the large green lawn between the other row of cottages watching the bunny rabbits scurrying around and lighting bug show. The owner was very nice. Rooms clean, large and comfortable. Ice/microwave are in a room behind the office open 24/7, a short walk from even the farthest cottage. Great place for family or club getaways.

I have stayed here twice. It's a great location to see some of the best old-growth redwoods in California. The best selling point is the location. It's close to the Eel river and some great hiking through the ancient forest.

Come see for yourself and get to know Matt, the Inn-keeper. He'll fill you in with the history of the Inn going back to the days of horse and buggy.

Ring a bell to get a greeting in the lobby, then person didn't know where room key was. Spots on the carpet in the lobby, in the room, everywhere.|Comfortable room. In in the trees. Quiet. |No breakfast - no people around. A kitchen off the lobby with toaster, which we made use of. Coffee across the street. There is wi-fi - slow.

We really enjoyed our 3 day stay. Rooms are clean and had everything we needed. Matt shared ideas with us on places to go, things to do, visit and eat. We were able to go to many of the groves, neighboring towns, do some shopping, eat good food, see the black beach at Shelters Cove and even drove through a couple of trees. Our time was very relaxing. We picked up sandwiches one night at the Redwoods Market and Deli across the street and enjoyed sitting out on the deck outside our room drinking coffee. Wi-Fi is spotty but we found that to be the case all up Hwy 101 so we knew what to expect. We would highly recommend this place and everyone should see the redwoods. We would definitely go back.

In the heart of Humboldt Redwood State Park, not a lot of eating options nearby. The room was clean and lovely and the bed was comfortable. Linens were good quality and towels were good as well. My kids were especially happy that there was a small bowl of miniature candies in the room

We were very late checking in. The young host was very courteous and placed an additional roll away bed in our room. The king sized bed was amazing - my wife and I had the best sleep. We also loved the cozy “old style” interior decorating and atmosphere. Breakfast was included even though. The coffee machine was set to go - all we had to do is push the button for a fresh brewed cup. We had an awesome stay and put it on my favourite list - hope to come back again. I wish we could have thanked our host in person but we left an “old fashion, hand written note” instead - hopefully you could decipher my terrible hand writing. Thank you again for a great experience and hospitality.
