We loved our stay here. It's a sweet little collection of cottages right on the Avenue of Giants. There is an Old Growth trail within walking distance, also a coffee shop, grocery and small restaurant. If you haven't been to the area, there are not a lot of options for food/coffee/restaurant and for them all to be a within walking distance is huge. At the same time, when you are on the property, it feels very secluded like you are in a little cottage tucked in the forest. The decor is a quirky and fun, kitchen had everything we needed. It was a great, comfortable home base for exploring the Redwoods!

The location was perfect for our hiking experience. We thought the cabin looked great at first and then discovered major issues:
1. There was no heating controlled by a thermostat. The heat is from a gas fireplace. The heater wasn’t working. The fixing person came and fixed it and said it would be replaced soon as it wasn’t reliable
2. The stove only had only one burner that worked correctly.
3. The shower was so quirky that the fixit man said it had even stumped him when he first saw it.
4. I was shocked by the sign at the sink (see below). I’ve never seen that kind of penalty for unwashed dishes and I’ve stayed in many motels, Airbnbs all over the world..I was kind of insulted
5. The WiFi was weak and inconsistent.

Great retreat in the redwoods. But I felt the value for money was poor. The fusty grandma rooms that smelled like artificial air freshener would have been charming for $125 but felt dated for $200 a night. Cleaning was not up to standard (found hair on my pillow and bedspread).
The pool is closed all winter, at least December thru April. It is misleading that it’s still advertised online and in the neon sign outside when it’s closed.
Be aware that in the off season (we were there in January), restaurants in town are closed. We had to drive 20 minutes to Garberville for the nearest dinner.

Beds supper comfortable. Hugh tub in cabin 8. My kids loved the home like feel of it. Expensive compared to camping but worth it if you got a bad back. Best resort i saw in Avenue of the Giants. Pool and fireplace available. Totally recommend this place. Staff was friendly. It was nice to cook in a real kitchen as there are like 3 restaurants still open in the Avenue area. Has a great hair salon and grocery store across the street with reasonable gas prices too. Loved the back patio with table and chairs we used to play card games. Good wifi connection as well.

I came here for the first time June 2024. This hidden resort right in Avenue of The Giants was like stepping into a small fairy land. Yes, the private cottages are dated, but that's part of the appeal. The spaces are lit up at night and it makes the outdoor common area so cool! You really can't beat the location. I loved it so much I booked another trip now, Sept. 2024 to show my adult daughter this place. (We are from Michigan). Weekends can get noisy, as it is a family friendly location, and most like to enjoy the common areas. Weekdays are pretty quiet. To my knowledge, the cottages have one box fan and bedroom ceiling fan so keep that in mind if its a hot season. The cleaning staff does a great job! The pool is open now (after permit issues were handled) and bonfire pit and large grilling area are really enjoyable. We've talked to staff that have been here for decades and they like the new owners. There is one restaurant, a coffee shop and a small market across the road. I know I am pretty strict when I leave a review, but I highly recommend the place. My adult daughter mentioned: It's like camping in a garden forest, but you get your own cozy bed!

This motel is in a beautiful setting with tall trees. We stayed in an old-fashioned cabin that felt cluttered. With all the lights on, it was decently lit. The base of the bed stuck out beyond the mattress, and I whacked my shin against it and got a nasty bruise. The room had an old microwave, a large mini-fridge with freezer, and comfortable chairs and bed. There was a wardrobe and some drawers for storage. The sink had no counter space, but there was space behind the sink area. The shower head was decent. There were not many TV station options. We got breakfast items at the gas station store across the street. We had a good dinner for a reasonable price at the Avenue Cafe.

Love staying right on Avenue of the Giants, and our room had a view and porch overlooking the forest itself. Other cabins without a forest view are also reasonably secluded. The small resort features a pool which we didn't use, but a basketball court and pingpong table which we did.||Our cabin had gorgeous old-timey built-ins, plus attractive bowls, plates, and tablewear. Comfortable bed with firm mattress. No AC but a ceiling fan we found helpful on the unusually warm night we stayed.||Personally, we could have done without some of the modern touches like a TV, or a showerhead with a little light. But maybe that's just us.||Overall a highly enjoyable stay, and we will definitely be back.

This charming cottage style resort smack in the middle of the awesome giant redwoods on the Avenue of the Giants works at providing the most quality small town environment possible! They have very clean cabins with kitchens, cozy sitting areas, large fluffy towels, and the most comfortable feather pillows I've slept with!|The pool area is cute with fire pits, play ground area for kids, a basketball court, a ping pong table and a nicely done green area throughout the large redwoods on the property. |Staff is friendly and makes you feel comfortable. |There is a well equipped market across the street. There is also a wonderful pizza restaurant directly across the street! About six miles south you'll find a great hamburger place at the chimney tree place. This poor 1800 year old tree had a fire and still lives to this day, with the center 14 feet across making a room where you can walk right inside! It's free!|I highly recommend staying here and would love to return one day!
