As a long-time IHG Diamond Elite member, I expect a certain level of service and recognition when staying at Holiday Inn properties. Unfortunately, this recent stay was filled with inconveniences and left me questioning the brand’s commitment to guest satisfaction.

Check-in was underwhelming, to say the least. Not only was there no acknowledgment of my Diamond status, but there was also a noticeable lack of warmth or hospitality from the front desk. It felt like just another transaction, which was disappointing given my loyalty to IHG.

The room itself had several issues. The shower drain was broken, causing water to pool quickly. I reported the problem, but no effort was made to move me to a functioning room, which should have been a simple fix for a loyal guest. On top of that, the body wash dispenser was completely empty. I had to go out of my way to request some from the front desk, but unfortunately, it wasn’t available in time for my shower.

These may seem like small issues individually, but together they point to a lack of attention to detail and a disregard for guest comfort. I stay at IHG properties frequently, and this was not the standard I’ve come to expect.

Hopefully, this feedback will help improve service moving forward—especially for those who choose to stay loyal to the brand.

We arrived on Friday for Talladega race weekend. It seemed a little crazy with lots of people that knew the front desk clerk were using the hotel pool. After checking in, we got to our room and shortly afterwards we realized we had water soaking the carpet in the corner near the A/C and desk. We notified the gentleman at the front desk and he said it happens all the time and it would be dry by morning instead of giving us another room.

We woke up in the morning with the floor worse and my wife not being a happy camper. The room was not clean either, so we skipped the showers to get on out of the hotel. Upon checkout, we explained the situation to the front desk and we would not be staying the 2nd night. They said that the night clerk should have put us in another room. The most he could give us off the room was $20. I asked to speak to the manager and she apologized and said they would refund the whole room charge to us. Very fair! On our way out, we realized the receipt didn't show a full refund. The clerk said within a day or 2, it would all fall off. Didn't seem right, but we would wait and see?

10 days later, we get home and noticed we were not reimbursed. So I called, asked for the manager and was not allowed to speak to her. The clerk confirmed that they had decided to only give us $50 off. Wow! Unbelievable!!! I highly suggest not staying here. The staff here definitely does not have the hotel guest's safety in their best interest. All about the ole mighty dollar.

everyone was great, loved the person who checked us in. the next night person was awesome as well, very helpful. The person who checked us out, needs help in hospitality. He never spoke a word. I handed the key to him and stood there as he typed on computer for about 5 minutes, I had to ask him was there something I needed to do, and he said I need to give you a paper. He handed me the paper and never said anything else. Have a nice day would have been nice. Something. The breakfast was good for my mom and sister, but I have gluten allergies so nothing for me. Grits would have been nice as I can eat those. No almond milk. The jacuzzi was very nice and one of the reasons we stayed there but was only able to enjoy for 20 min or so as the chlorine in it was so strong it was burning our eyes and taking away our breath away, better ventilation would be great, several people had stated an issue. The guy mopping the floor when we left was nice and even said have a great day.

We were in town to see a Broadway show Les Miserables and just wanted a nice clean place to relax for a few days. We found most of these things in the hotel. The only issue we had had nothing to do with them. It was just some fellow guest, who were very excited high Schoolers that kept screaming and running up and down the halls, banging the doors and playing basketball over our head, but the staff quickly took care of the issues as soon as they were reported. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Hotel was over great with great breakfast and a nice Jacuzzi.

Hotel and room was clean. There were always staff cleaning. The beds were comfortable and room was spacious. The bathroom was clean, hot shower. There were no pool towels. The breakfast on the weekend did not open until 7:00 which was a problem for our soccer team, however there was a good variety. The hot water kettle was often empty and I had to ask staff to refill it. There was confusion checking in as a soccer team; the clerk was unsure about payments because of 3rd party booking. Overall, nice hotel. Has an indoor pool and hottub, however; there is A LOT of chlorine.

This hotel wow! Very accommodating! Location is near all of the restaurants. The indoor spa and pool was a restart for the week! Not crowded very clean and the spacious. All of the front desk staff was very very respectable. Brian was very wonderful at check in. I believe I don’t wanna butcher his name so I’ll just say LQ was wonderful at checkout. And oh the manager is very professional and understanding gentleman. I’d love to stay at this location again but I was only in town for a comedy show! Keep up the good work!

Oh yea, please update those pictures only because the hotel is RENOVATED! and those pictures is NOT how the property current look. This was the best holiday inn in the city. And I can be very picky.

The room was great. Everything was clean, bathrooms could be updated, but as long as it’s clean, we’re good! The only issue we had was at check in. We waited in the lobby 10-15 minutes before my husband called the hotel. When the phone rang for a while, the gentleman who was working finally came inside to check us in.

The staff was the kindest, warmest, most helpful group of people of any hotel I can remember. They were all so nice and friendly and accommodating.

The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and it felt very welcoming. Thank you to the staff for such a nice stay.

I would absolutely stay here again.
