Went by here mid-morning and purchased a loaf of sour dough and two pastries. All was excellent and I will be back. I got to meet the owner and hear the story of the business. Don't miss out head to downtown Opelika and give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. Support some good local people and a fine business.

Amazingly good bakery. Everything looks and smells amazing. Hard to chose a pastry but lucky for us, they have a box where you can chose four and get a bit of a price break. So far we’ve had the morning bun and it is DELISH. Can’t wait to try the croissants and sour dough but know from previous reviews it’s gonna be great! Highly recommend stopping by!

I wanted to leave a review for this establishment because it is by far the best bakery in the local area. I love to try new places and stumbled on this place from a local food blog and was really surprised by the quality of all of their bread. After being disappointed by all of the other bakeries in the Auburn/Opelika area, I can only hope that this place gets a ton of business from all of our locals.

I visited right as the store was opening on Saturday and I'm sure all of the staff enjoyed a good laugh because I asked for literally one of everything. I'm not joking when I say our family of 4 ate all of the bread before the weekend was over. I'm sure most people will face a similar predicament upon seeing all of the fresh bread. Personal favorites were the sourdough loaf & croissant.

All of the staff were very friendly and it was great to be in an such a warm and inviting atmosphere. I would say that the only MINOR con would be the lack of seating. I saw maybe 2 places where people could sit and eat/drink. Maybe there is seating outside but it was raining at the time so I didn't really have time to check.

Overall 10/10. Will be visiting frequently. Please support so we don't lose such a great establishment.

Pros:

Really good bread
Great, friendly staff

Cons:

Not directly next to my house
Will make me gain weight and have less money?

Stinson Bread is one of the best things to happen to Downtown Opelika in recent years. We get fresh sourdough probably once a week. I often eat half the loaf just with olive oil and vinegar, but it also makes a great sandwich. If somehow I let it get a bit stale it's great for a grilled cheese to dip in tomato soup and I've even made French onion soup with it a couple of times, which was excellent. The other baked goods and pastries are also delicious. My wife is a bit addicted to the gluten free chocolate chip cookies.

Beautiful baked goods. Treated myself to almond and regular croissants today. All made in-house, all fresh daily. They stay open until they run out. Today I got lucky and lots were available (at 10am): Danishes, croissants of three flavors, coffee cake, lemon ricotta cake, and of course the sour dough loaves. If you're local and not making regular stops at Stinsons, you are missing out on one of Opelika 's best treats.

I've been rucking in downtown Opelika for the last couple of years, but the current road construction has detoured me by the front of John Emerald. I was delighted to see this business a few weeks ago but hadn't had the time to walk in. Yesterday, I was waiting for a prescription to be filled before returning to work, so I walked over after my ruck. It's a very cozy space with a warm and inviting atmosphere. I didn't catch the name of the representative at the front desk, but he was very helpful and kind in helping me with my choices. I bought two croissants and what I think was called an everyday roll. I devoured one of the croissants after stepping outside, and it was fantastic. I had the roll last night with some soup, and it was also very delicious. Before leaving, I got to speak with Anna Claire about their subscription service, and she also patiently listened to my ramblings about trying to bake with einkorn. Lol. I'll definitely be a regular customer to support this wonderful bakery.

In my opinion, the croissants do taste good but are way too big, perhaps to cater to an obsolete American taste of supersizing which explains the overprice at $5 a piece. In France, for instance a croissant of similar taste but of traditional size sells for $1.50. Then out of 4 visits, twice the shop was closed, especially today, December 24, as I wanted to treat friends and order 20 croissants for tomorrow morning. It is difficult to understand how a new bakery, developing a name for itself follows such a surprising, erratic set of open hours. From now on, I hesitate to drive from Auburn to that bakery. Finally, the questionnaire, below, is odd given that the bakery does not offer dining in, or any kind of meal, etc. Again, this is just my opinion, based on my experience.
