The po-boys, fried fish, and fried shrimp, we've had were good. Larger shrimp than we expected, for sure.

Not a bad thing - just a thing the salad-lovers need to know - the 'salads' are more a 'plate with sides that include salad' than a bowl situation. See my photo of the plate with grilled shrimp - that is a "grilled shrimp salad" according to the menu. It was good - just diff.

Most southern local fried food places don't have grilled options, but this one does. Awesome news if your fam likes fried food, but Dad doesn't have a gall bladder! 😆

As far as the service goes, we only saw one server both times we've been. Slow lunch = no problem. Saturday evening dinner with a rush = we had problems. Our entrees came out before our appetizer. Nothing they brought to the table had the condiment or sauce it was supposed to have, and getting the salad dressings, cocktail, tartar, refills, and such took a while...while we sat there looking at our food. We've had a super nice waitress both times we've gone, but I will probably to-go until they have worked out the front-of-house kinks.

Best place around here, no debate. Don’t overthink what to eat, just eat here. The flavor of their food is unbeatable. I didn’t ask for sauces but I was provided with plenty of choices. Even the sauces are fire.

Good fried tilapia and catfish (a friend had). I didn't care for the hushpuppies... The red beans and rice was also good.

I gave them 2 stars because though the customer service was great the flavor in the food just wasn’t. The fish was fried to perfection but the flavor and seasoning wasn’t there. The green beans were terrible. The smell was over powering with what smelled like garlic. The taste was even worse. The red beans and rice were okay just not warm enough. Would I eat here again? Sure, but probably no time soon. Maybe I’ll try something different!

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and tidy I see some comments talking about the lady at the counter in my opinion I didn’t think she was rude. That’s just how most Africans talk it’s nothing personal. The waitress checked up on me and was very pleasant as well. I got the catfish with okra and hush puppies. The food was wow just delicious it was seasoned to perfection and it taste just like good ole soul food. The other comments are true you do get a lot of food! I’m happy with my purchase! Definitely coming here again! 😊 ( if I come back and it’s a bad experience I’m changing my review lol 😂)

We picked up our to go order tonight. This is the first time eating here. The food was delicious. My husband got grilled large shrimp and fish. He loved it all. I got the fried fish po boy. The only issue food-wish was that the onions were so strong, I couldn’t eat them. The lettuce was scarce, but wilted and the tomatoes were over-ripe and mushy. They gave me an extra whole piece of fish. The fries were very good. He said they were not very friendly or welcoming. He said the atmosphere did not make him want to go back and sit there to eat. He is pretty lenient with his standards too, where I am more critical, so that says a lot.

Always looking for something different at lunch and I don’t always have time to drive beyond downtown. I’m not usually a fish/shrimp eater or southern comfort food. The grilled shrimp was well seasoned. Presentation was a surprise with sautéed onions and bell pepper and salad. Hushpuppies were delicious and the red beans and rice were ok. Service was good but if you are on lunch break you need to give yourself plenty of time. We had a party of 3 and the total was about $50

We stopped here on our way to Mobile, AL. We wanted some fish/shrimp options and the food did not disappoint! The shrimp was big and crunchy. The fries were perfectly battered and crunchy. The portions are big but definitely satisfy the hungry appetite. Great service and very fast with the food coming out. I would definitely recommend Sam’s Southern eatery in Opelika
