Dancing Coyote Beach Cottages - Inverness, California

This place is wonderful. I spent the weekend here with my partner and our dog, and it was the most relaxing trip. The cottages are soo cozy and stocked with everything you may need - ours had a fireplace, views of the water, and games and even books. We made sure to plan some time on the shared outdoor area with Adirondack chairs overlooking the water…truly the most peaceful location. Strongly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a relaxing time away.

The location is gorgeous. Moody and beautiful. This could be such a gem of a place but the customer service and maintenance of the place is horrible.

We went online and booked a night in the cottage. We got an email saying that they could not accommodate because they had a two night minimum on the weekends even though their system had allowed us to book. Unfortunately, we didn’t see that email until the next day. We had already planned childcare for our night away, and I had taken time off of work. My husband talked to the manager and she said there was nothing that she could do for us (even though we checked online and they had more than 1 cabin available) and that their system had glitched and it shouldn’t have allowed us to book just one night. I gave her a call later that day and explained that we had already moved a lot of pieces around to accommodate this night away, and asked her that because this was an issue with her scheduler if there was any possible way she could accommodate it. She said no to me three times on the phone and didn’t think because their system had glitched they should try and make it right.

Finally, I asked if she could ask the owner and she said that I could call her back to find out if the owner had said yes or no. She wound up calling me back and said it was ok this once, I was so thankful.

Upon check in our cottage reeked of mold. We went upstairs and found that all around the skylights there was damage and evidence of water intrusion. There was mold around the skylights. We left and immediately sent an email, I am incredibly allergic to mold. We know so much about it because we had issues in a home that we lived in five years ago and it led to some serious health problems for me.

We still have not received a response to our email from the owner or the manager. My mother-in-law was the one who purchased this gift certificate for us, so she wound up calling and they did give her a refund for the gift certificate. The manager stated in her email to my mother-in-law that it was not mold. There is absolutely no way in an environment as wet and damp as Inverness that you can have water intrusion come in through skylights to that degree and not have mold. You can see for yourself in the pictures below.

All in all, I think that the communication and the customer service or lack there of was the most disappointing aspect. It doesn’t seem like as a small business they value people or their experiences. I am a small business owner, and if somebody reached out to me and told me that there was a problem with something, I would respond immediately and do everything I could to make it right. This business is not run that way. We did wind up staying down the street in a bay view sweet at Tomales Bay Resort and Marina. It was less expensive, the service was significantly better, and the accommodations were newly remodeled.

I just spent two nights at the dancing coyote beach cottages in Inverness. I travel a lot and almost always stay in B&B’s. The cottage in Inverness is one of the best stays I have had. They are comfortable in a perfect location right on the bay with an amazing view. The cottages have everything one could want for a perfect day.. My cottage had a loft bedroom with a view and an outside shower! there are several places to sit at the edge of the water in the beautiful gardens. Two of the cottages allow pets. My dog loved swimming in the bay.

Stunning cottages with a beautiful view of the bay. Very peaceful and quiet. The Skye room was wonderful and the sleeping nook is perfect to wake up overlooking the water. The outdoor shower is a great touch and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the space comfortable.

My wife and I spent two nights earlier this month and so wish it could have been longer! The place is so relaxing and has everything one could ask for, to find a peaceful serene setting. Stayed in the Birch Cottage and it is beautiful. After a nice hike at Point Reyes, coming "home" to a warm fire and extremely comfortable bed was perfect. Go to the Inverness Park Market, order take out and enjoy it on your deck looking out at the water.

We had an incredible weekend at Coyote Beach in the Acacia cottage. The cottage itself is very cute and cozy, it might be a little tight for 4 adults but for a couple plus a dog it was fantastic. The location is ideal for exploring Point Reyes, very close drive to the town and walkable to the general store, Saltwater Oyster Depot and Vlad's. The other cottages had guests but we barely noticed. The shared seating areas were almost always empty and we could always hang out on one of two of our private patios. The beds were comfortable, the cooking materials well-stocked and firewood there at arrival and restocked if needed.

Perfect Location, Cozy Rooms, Wonderful Management

This location doesn't get much better. It is right on the shore, you can watch the tide move in and move out throughout your stay. The grounds are gardened wonderfully, and there's plenty of sturdy seating for those wanting to lounge around.

A little drive up the road, and there's enough hiking to keep the most adventurous happy for days.

Less than 500' away is a wonderful restaurant, the Saltwater Oyster Depot.

Point Reyes Shipwreck is within a rocks throw of the site.

It gets a little cold at night, but each cottage has extra blankets and heaters. Check for Spare the Air days, but if you can, a fire makes the cottage cozy and night.

The kitchens are functional and provide enough space to make eggs in the morning or a meal for lunch. The fridges are small, so don't expect storing much food, enough for a meal. The interior could use a coat of paint, or some TLC with spills or stains, but it is charming and the important parts feel very clean.

The management is wonderful and responsive, taking care to make sure all request were adhered to and that our stay was perfect.

We will gladly come here again.

We love staying at Dancing Coyote Beach Cottages, it is so serene and calm to be right by the bay. There are incredible views of the bay and the garden from the cottages. The kitchen has all the essentials. It is a place we look forward to coming back to. And, they take great care of the place and prepare a wonderful fireplace to stay cozy in the evening. Plus, during our last visit there was a full moon and it was so awe-inspiring to see the moonlight over the bay. Thank you, Dancing Coyote Beach Cottages!
