Inn is different from a standard hotel, it is older construction that has definite charm. Quaint room that was clean and comfortable. Little bit small for my 6 foot 3 size, and only stairs to get to the second floor. Breakfast was good and there are plenty of good restaurants in the area for dinner. No A/C however, but it cooled off in the evening.

While we weren’t expecting luxury, this stay was worse than some of the military bases we have stayed at in the past. The room was large, but the bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the pillows were flat. However, the worst part about it was there was absolutely no interaction with any human being the entire time we were there. I’ve had better customer service at a hostel.

Clean, comfortable, convenient, quiet!! Great location. Spacious rooms with character. Breakfast provided each morning.|Responsive and kind owners who set up breakfast for us extra early on our departure morning to wish us a good flight. We will be back!

I had a delightful stay for two nights visiting my daughter who lives in San Anselmo. Everything I needed was there. Room was completely equipped. I had no problem with noises from the alley. (Others complained of that) Every room has its own bathroom. Great coffee in the morning and plenty to choose from for breakfast. I loved the quiet back patio. I had a wonderful, authentic northern Italian dinner at the little restaurant below the hotel. Location is perfect. Right in the quaint downtown strip.

Stayed here to attend a Sunday wedding in Fairfax. We arrived early to see if we could get an early check-in (last minute) to escape the heat. We were met by the owner (I believe) and he was kind enough to bump up our room cleaning to get in earlier.
But the room wasn't that cool despite the A/C and a fan. Still grateful to have a place to rest.

The rooms are definitely dated and simple (a mix of antique and modern). We had the King DLX which actually had an unexpected 2nd bedroom which we didn't need.
Bathroom was tiny but who's spending much time in there? The room was on the street side so a little noisy in the AM with bigger trucks passing by. But was nice having all the natural light from the windows.

Convenient for walking and dining about town. Would be a good landing point to explore the coast and bike trails. Such a nice break from Oakland and East Bay where you have to be so careful with your things/car. And people smile and stop at the cross walk for you. What a different way of living.

Was a decent place to stay for a night but not for much longer in that kind of heat. We barely slept because it was so warm. However, that kind of heat is not the norm.

We have stayed at the San Anselmo Inn a few times before and I would rate the location a 5. Unfortunately, it felt like we were staying in a room that had been furnished at a garage sale by someone who had no sense of style. The arm rests of the desk chair were foam that looked like it had been gnawed on for years by a very large dog. None of the furniture came even close to being color coordinated, much less matching. The refrigerator was sitting on top of the wardrobe and plugged into the wall. There were all kinds of random stuff leaning against the hall wall. The hotel ‘foyer’ was equally mismatched. It is pretty clear that this Inn is being run to maximize cash flow and has a HUGE amount of deferred maintenance. Great location, but not a room where you would want to spend a moment more time than you absolutely have to.

A friendly warning to all service dog owners: The San Anselmo Inn is NOT ADA-friendly. The owners were obviously not educated on current accessibility laws and when we attempted to inform them that the way they were treating us was illegal, they proceeded to charge us $500 and act incredibly rude, offensive, and threatening. ||||DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE A DISABILITY.

It's not new, but it's clean and charming. The French owner or front desk guy is very nice. The rooms offer good TV, cute little details, a fan next to the bed (which is necessary for my hot blood) and lots of clean towels. The location is amazing and they even offer free bikes to help see the town.
