This motel was a wonderful stay with lots of activities in the area. It is definitely recommended whether you like vacation or like to go whitewater rafting this place is perfect for it

Have stayed at this motel multiple times since they have been under new management. The rooms are very quiet and clean. I have noticed the property is very well maintained. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing. Lola and Aaron were very helpful and professional when checking in. Always my number one go to place to stay when visiting Maupin. The rates are great and very convenient for rafting or visiting downtown Maupin.

Great cute little place to stop off for a night or two. Very friendly people, recently updated rooms, and near the highway so it's super easy to get to. Our air conditioners didn't work which was a bummer but the weather was nice so it didn't bug us too much.

Wanting to get away from an overcrowded and too cool Portland, my bf and I often find ourselves driving over the mountain to sweet little Maupin. Such a great town with really wonderful people and as scenic as you can stand! I booked us for one night at The Deschutes Motel and we really loved it. We had such a great stay and we felt so at home that we extended our stay by a night. Dave was simply one of the nicest most engaging people we've encountered in our travels, and we travel plenty! The rooms were super clean and I mean CLEAN. The bed was pretty comfy and the water pressure in the shower was excellent! They provide coffee and a few toiletries in the room. And not only are they pet friendly, they're pet accommodating! There's a little area for them to do their business and they even provide you with a little kit for the room complete with poo bags, a towel and a sheet if you allow your pet on the furniture. Another feature we found really convenient is you could buy snacks, beer and wine in the office for next to nothing. Perfect after a drive and you wanna crack a beer or two and relax in the room. All in all we loved our stay and this is absolutely going to be our go-to in Maupin. Thanks Dave! You're Awesome!

My Wife and l stayed here for 3 days mid May 2017. I was surprised how clean and quiet our stay was. They do not have as many amenities as large motels, but the customer service of the management is 5 star. If you opt to stay here make sure you read the little guide in the room for local places to eat, things to do, and room information like WiFi password. For a town as small as Maupin this is a great surprise for a place to stay. We will stay here for our next visit.

We stayed in a king suite and the room was larger than we thought it would be based on the outside. The employees are friendly. The bathroom is very tiny and you can't really sit on the toilet without closing the door. There isn't enough space. Also, I am 5'4" and the shower head was too low for me to shower. My 6'2" husband had a heck of a time with it. Clean place and very handy to get to a rafting place. You will need to drive to meals though.

The room was clean and the smell was okay. "Suite" is a bit of a stretch, but it did have two rooms. The main room is smaller than Motel 6-size, and the second room has room to walk around the bed, no more. The bed was comfortable and the shower had ample hot water and flow. The wi-fi was so-so, but Maupin is pretty remote. I had no cell service there (T-Mobile.) The price was probably appropriate for the season and location, but high compared to what I am accustomed to paying around the western US. The office doesn't open until 3:00pm. Check out time of 11:00am is a sticking point for the owners/managers. After an unexpected task in the morning I returned to the hotel and showered for the day. At 11:15am there was a loud banging on the door. The man at the door wagged his finger in my face and yelled, "Check out time is 11 o'clock! YOU are keeping the housekeeper waiting!" I apologized and finished moving out. Considering that the office was still closed I didn't feel bad for not asking for another half hour to clear out. My stay was for one night, but my unexpected task caused me to stay for another four nights -- not at Deschutes Motel. The woman was quite pleasant.

Me and my four children stayed here three years in a row for the Tygh Valley Bluegrass Festival. The rooms were very clean and comfortable; the owner was unfailingly polite and helpful with whatever we needed. We loved our stay each year.
