This was the best B&B or airbnb experience we’ve ever had! The host is charming and really wants your stay to be delightful. We stayed 3 nights in the very nice queen bedroom and bathroom w/ tub & shower and also included is total access to the adjacent sunny, pine tree-view bistro with cushioned L-shaped window seat at good sized table, 2 chairs and lovely decor. Our farm-fresh breakfasts which we choose from a menu each evening, were beautifully plated and super delicious. Jumbo sautéed wild shrimp, fried tomatoes and omelet were one menu selection along with toast and cut up fresh fruit. Great breakfasts are available for all types of eaters including vegan. We spent lots of time relaxing in our little bistro playing games, planning our outings, and reading. The backyard is beautifully landscaped - very Japanese with many outbuildings. In one picturesque building is a deep, hot bath you can use if you ask ahead. Zen Garden B&B is across the road from the pine trees thickets of Nehalem Bay State Park. The Zen Garden property is full of the same pine trees too but carefully pruned in natural form. So calming and beautiful! The ocean and beautiful long, long beach are a very short walk through the grassy dunes.

The Zen Garden Bed and Breakfast was the perfect location in Manzanita. It is right on the edge of town near Nehalem State Park and within a few minutes on foot through the dunes and you are on the most wonderful beach. We loved riding our bikes everywhere and watching the sunset. Mrs. Smigel's breakfasts are divine with everything homemade and organic. The collection of books was incredible to look through. We had a lovely stay and will be coming back!

We loved our time at Zen Garden! Highlights were the wonderful host, the tasty and filling breakfasts and the easy beach access. The bed was also so comfy! The only minor problem were the loud water pipes above the room, which was infrequent but quite loud (and did wake us up a few times). I might recommend earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Otherwise we absolutely adored our stay here and the wonderful hospitality from Christine! Definitely planning to come back!

The Zen Garden Bed and Breakfast was a lovely, unique experience. The grounds are part of beach house that has been developed into a serene Zen garden--hence the name. It's a mix of old world charm and tranquil Zen influences. Our accommodations in the Hiroshige room reminded us of some pensions that we have stayed in while traveling in Europe. The hosts were absolutely lovely people. The breakfasts were delicious and Mrs. Smigel kindly adapted to my celiac's needs. The location is also three houses down a little road to the ocean. It's close to the town of Manzanita and the nearby State park.

Best breakfast I have had in awhile. The hardest part about going home was knowing I won’t be having a healthy and filling breakfast on the beach! Best last minute trip I’ve booked, and I hope to return again. Give Mrs. Smigel a call if you are looking for a relaxing getaway!

We enjoyed our stay in the Zen room. Just a few yards to the beach, easy access to town. Mrs Smigel made really delicious breakfasts, and we had a choice each morning. I selected An omelet with fresh prawns one morning, and she provided good coffee served in porcelain- really lovely! The bed was comfortable and the room very clean and cozy. Thank you Mrs. Smigel!

The location is great, slightly away from town but a walkable distance, with the surf just minutes walk away. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the hosts were on-site and attentive to our every need. The setting is relaxing, with feel of a private retreat. Breakfast was charming and delicious each day. Rooms are slightly quirky, but we were delighted with our accommodations. We will happily return.

Staying at Zen Garden is such a treat for us. We feel so pampered with our incredible home cooked, breakfast in the morning. Walks on the beach and a rejuvenating evening soak in the private outdoor soaking tub. The bedding and bed is so luxurious. It's easy to stay in bed all day on rainy days with a good book while we wait for the sun to show. Mrs Smigel always makes us feel like we've come home for the weekend to be spoiled. This was our 3rd time staying and we are already looking forward to our next stay.
