Not clean. Garbage under the nightstand. Odd smell. Bedding had hair in it. Gross hand prints, and greasy head marks on headboard. No fan in bathroom, and bathroom window opens to isle where tenants walk. Super thin walls. Generally not wiped down. Dog friendly. Back door leads straight to beach. Will not revisit.

The rooms are nice and clean, the staff was really friendly. The only real complaint I have is how rough it was to sleep on the lumpy ass beds in the room. The beach is literally a 2 minute walk which was so nice!

I mostly enjoyed my stay at Silver Sands Motel - clean rooms, spectacular oceanfront view, easy access to the beach, and a budget-friendly price - but took two stars away for the following:

I was put on the bottom floor and at the end of the hallway, which was loud. I could hear people's dogs barking; loud music playing above me; doors slamming; etc until about 10 or 11 PM.

There were random ants everywhere. One was crawling on the nightstand; one on the table; one in the bathroom; etc.

The room was updated in some areas and outdated in others. For example, my door had no ability to lock; the latch had been broken off and the deadbolt didn't work. Although a key card is still required for entry, I would have felt better with the security of a deadbolt.

And finally (a minor thing), I wish they would include disposable to-go cups for coffee! It's more sanitary than using ceramic cups and it's more convenient when leaving.

Those issues aside, this was a solid room for the price ($115 in January).

Lady at the front desk needs a serious attitude check. My key stopped working first thing in the morning and I politely said good morning and asked for assistance. Little did I know she “literally just opened” and I would need to “give her a second before she could help” me. Extremely rude and abrasive tone. I quietly said she did not need to be snippy with me and I could come back later. After huffing and puffing she opened my door. Really too bad, because otherwise this place is great.

If you need a place to stay its not bad. Sad they no longer have pool or hot tub this used to be my go to place but for the price and no pool not really worth it.
The TV set up is odd shuts off about every hour or so and makes you login with the wifi at the hotel kinda odd. It's to bad this place is going down hill.

These are (literally) beachfront rooms in an older motel. My room was upstairs and very clean. I bring my own bed linens and towels due to allergies so no issues there. I visited Rockaway just to hang out on the beach so the location was great. The folks at the front desk were friendly and helpful. And I booked through Expedia - this was one of the least expensive beach front stays and there were no issues with the booking.

Right on the beach, that's worth two stars by itself. The room was a throw back to the 70s which I was expecting by the photos we had seem. Nice having a kitchenette so we could make our meals most nights. This place has so much potential. If they would carry the Reno's to the bathroom through the rest of the room it would be great. Two words: fitted sheets. So much potential
