My husband and I just spent the weekend at the Rockin' MJ Ranch in Canyon Lake, Texas. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay that is just a short drive from many area attractions, this is the place for you. Jo is the most delightful lady and a wonderful host. She greeted us with homemade squash bread and lots of history about the ranch. There are two guestrooms with king size beds, private baths, and a futon if you need extra sleeping space. A shared kitchen separates the two rooms and is equipped with everything you need - microwave, coffee pot, sink, toaster, full sized refrigerater/freezer stocked with drinks, snacks and breakfast foods. Full porches with rockers and chairs are on both sides, with a large hot tub on the back porch. The place is immaculate both inside and out. We enjoyed sitting outside, watching the wildlife, listening to the crickets and gazing at the stars. The rooms have cable TV, but we never even turned it on because the beauty of nature was all we needed for entertainment! We will definitely stay here again the next time we make a trip to the Texas Hill Country.

This is the second time my friends and I have stayed at the Rocking MJ and as the previous review states, the website doesn't do it justice!! Ms. Jo is one of the sweetest ladies to ever open up a B&B and her hospitality is one of a kind! From the fresh baked zucchini bread and cinnamon rolls, to the rolling beautiful hills on the property, to the longhorn/goats/white-tailed deer and more, this B&B is the best! There are only two rooms in the little ranch house with a common kitchenette and I recommend to rent both sides and have a great time! There's also a hot tub in the back that, surprisingly, isn't that bad even in the 100 degree heat at night! Not to mention the rocking chairs on the porch that overlook the beautiful scenery! This is the perfect place for either a girls getaway to tube the river as we did or for a romantic getaway or simply a place to go and relax with the family. After a long day on the river or hanging out at Schlitterbahn this is the best place to go back to and relax all by yourselves! And as for cleanliness, you will NOT find a place that is cleaner than this other than your own home...and I'm willing to bet your own home won't be cleaner! And the price is unbeatable!

I have stayed here several times over the last couple of years. Rocking MJ Ranch is my first phone call when I'm headed to New Braunfels area. This is a family owned B&B and Jo's hospitality is the best you can experience. She works hard to keep the grounds immaculate and provides you with everything you need for a comfortable and memorable stay. This time we had squash bread with squash hand picked from her garden. Yummy! We floated the river a couple of times and we were always anxious to get back to our quiet sanctuary. We spent most of our time outside grilling, relaxing in the hot tub and morning coffee on the front porch watching the wildlife. It's so private on this ranch style retreat, it's hard to believe you are minutes from the city. Canyon lake is a hop, skip and jump away. The Horseshoe river float (whitewater sports) is 5 minutes away. HEB and Brookshires are within 5 miles in either direction when you leave the drive way. Gruene is an easy 10 minute drive for shopping, dining and Gruene Hall for music and dancing. Wimberly is 20 minutes away. ||If you are lucky, you may get to view the cross on the hill... This place is simply amazing! Not only is it super clean, comfy, quiet, and relaxing but the views, wildlife, and hospitality will blow you away!! If I could could give it more stars I would. Jo is amazing. She greeted us and instantly made us feel right at home with baked goods and the history of the ranch. It's close to everything and although you feel isolated and in the middle of nowhere while on the ranch the joys of the city life are a short drive away. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. I wish I could keep this place a secret, but I can't keep this amazing place all to myself. When we drove in to the ranch itself we couldn't believe that we were actually staying in this place. The trees and grounds were stunning. On our first day we met Jo and she showed us around, introduced us to her sweet puppies and led us into our very clean adorably decorated room. We had fresh baked goods waiting for us in the larger shared kitchen, as well as cereal, pancake sausages on a stick and much more goodies. We walked around, met the goats and donkeys then hiked up a hill on the property that had a stunning view of the lake and the surrounding plateaus. We walked back to the cabin and watched the deer from the front rocking chairs. It was heaven. The air was clean, it was private and yet close to great restaurants, can you say chicken fried steak? My husband said it was the best weekend of his life. And I would have to agree. When we left we went to sign the guest book and almost every page was filled up with hand written thank you's, I read some of them and not only do people come to this place over and over it has become a tradition and a centering experience for people.

If you are looking for a great place to stay, this is it. The cabin is great hide a way to stay in. You will be amazed at the wildlife you can see while sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch. Whitetail deer roaming through the trees, the goats and longhorn cattle grazing while rocking the afternoon away. Sitting in the hot tub gets you so relaxed, you just do not what to get out. Ms. Jo is the sweetest lady that you would want to meet. She takes the time to tell you the story of the ranch and all the things that you can do while you are there. She makes sure that you have everything you need to make you stay one to remember. Do not let this gem of a place to stay pass you by if you are in the area.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Jo's ranch very much. The accommodations were very comfortable, clean, quiet and with a lot of Texas charisma. The ranch is huge and very pretty, and we specially enjoyed seeing the longhorns (Tex and Rex), the goats and the dog Oreo. Jo is a very nice lady who makes you feel welcomed like family - thank you for the Pumpkin cake! The location is very good - close to Canyon Lake, good eateries, Gruene TX, New Braunsfels (we went to the Wurstfest which was a lot of fun), and the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch (a must see drive-thru Safari). There's a lot to see and do at the MJ Ranch!

Our stay with the Newsom's was truly a great experience. The tour of their beautiful vineyards was like nothing we had done before. We learned so much.
The home was beautiful with the most wonderful gardens all around the home. They were very welcoming hosts which just made the entire stay feel like a home away from home.
We will, without a doubt, be back for another visit soon! Highly recommend!
