I recently visited El Jalapeño with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The food overall was bland, lacking the vibrant flavors one would expect from authentic Mexican cuisine. The margaritas were particularly underwhelming; the tequila used tasted cheap, which significantly affected the quality of the drink. Additionally, the chimichanga I ordered had raw dough, making it inedible. This visit did not meet my expectations, and I hope the restaurant addresses these issues to improve the dining experience.

The taco salad was really good, the wet burrito is gigantic, enough for two, same with the delicious hamburgers. Great service. We purchase a pint of their regular salsa everytime we go there. My favorite at this time is their Fajita Nachos! Oh my, you must try. Chicken or beef, grilled onions etc. See the pictures. Just posting this makes me hungry. See you there!

Solid Mexican food in the small town of Haskell.
If you live in or around Haskell you are well aware of the limited dining options. And you are probably aware that that this is a good average Mexican restaurant. If for some reason you are traveling through Haskell, this is a decent place to eat. Drop in have a burger or their Mexican food.
I ordered carne asada, but somehow the waitress got confused and brought me carne asada tacos. Probably my fault, I think I got her a little flustered when I ordered a chili toreado and hotter salsa. She didn’t know what a chili toreado was. The tacos were still very good though. We ordered a variety of menu items and they were all good.
We got there at about 11:30 Sunday morning and by the time we left the place it was packed with customers waiting.

If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've probably been there.

We always have people asking where a good restaurant is that has a variety of flavor. El Jalapeno is the place to go. From the American Favorites, to kid friendly and Mexican... they have a meal for any craving! Each time we dine in or take out, the food and service is the best. Never a complaint and always a hot, wonderful and filling meal.

I typically judge a Mexican restaurant by their fajitas and so that's what I ordered. I was well pleased with the flavor and seasoning of the chicken meat. Most places will give grilled sliced chicken, but here they have it cut up and seasoned with the grilled onions and peppers. The tortillas were brought out in foil and were hot which was a nice alternative to some other places I've eaten at. Our waitress was very attentive to our table even though she was busy with other customers.

a friend and i stopped in here on 10.12.23 at 1300ish. we ordered some beans and rice and a beef quesadilla, chicken burrito. after the woman who took our order and never followed up afterwards till we asked for ticket. the food was so hot, all you could taste the green leafy burn of cilantro..it was in the refried beans and rice even. Haskell is a small town and didnt see any other mexican restaurants in town. its easy to be the best 1 in tiwn when you're the only 1. pack your lunch when you come to town or stop at sonic for a corndog....update: since i didnt eat but a couple bites from everything, i asked for a to-go container and took the dinner to a fire breathing dragon who like hot food. the pics are of the peices of cilantro i took out of just 1 slice of quesadilla..thats too much for a whole meal. Heat in food is not flavor..thank you for your time.
