This place is very pricey, and while a few of the dishes are decent, the rest don’t feel truly authentic to me. The pozole, for example, wasn’t great—it was oddly sweet and just didn’t hit the mark. Some dishes were okay, but overall, it’s a hit-or-miss situation. That said, the staff here are amazing—super friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated. However, for the price, I expected more authenticity and better quality. If you’re looking for real Mexican flavors, this might not be the place.

Chapulín Cantina is an absolute gem! Our recent visit was nothing short of exceptional, thanks in large part to our incredible waitress, Elizabeth. She was truly outstanding - attentive, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Elizabeth's service alone puts her in my top 5 waitstaff experiences ever.
The food was simply outstanding. We tried the pork tacos, which were fantastic - perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The seafood tostada was a highlight, incredibly fresh and bursting with delicious flavors. It's clear they use high-quality ingredients in their dishes.
Don't miss out on their spicy margaritas - they were a hit at our table and complemented the food beautifully. The blend of flavors in both the food and drinks showed the kitchen's skill and attention to detail.
The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, making for a memorable dining experience. Chapulín Cantina offers a perfect blend of excellent service, outstanding food, and a great ambiance. It's definitely a must-visit spot in Austin for anyone looking for top-notch Mexican cuisine. We'll certainly be back!

Cool vibe, great cocktails and really tasty authentic Mexican fare. Servers are very chill and super friendly. There is a nicely spaced dining room inside and good outdoor patio space. I highly recommend the spicy ghost tequila if you're interested in a little heat with your cocktail.

Wow! A favorite Mexican food place in Austin for sure. Had the Tamayo cocktail - spicy mezcal with mole bitters. Also had the Enmoladas de Pollo which was fantastic and something I’ll be back for… 3 chicken enchilada type rolls with 3 different types of mole. LOTS of mole for each roll along with cream on top. Wonderful - particularly for mole lovers. Definitely a lot of spicy dishes for those who like some heat. But also plenty of not spicy options as well.

This was the best torta I have ever had. The broth that is poured over it leaves endless taste buds in you mouth. The wagu beef is so tender and flavorful. I also had the Agua de Jamaica is unbelievable. Very authentic. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Wow. The flavors at this restaurant are unreal. We enjoyed the Austin Restaurant Week menu sooo much. They have the best tuna tostada - the quality of the tuna was unreal and they don’t skimp on portions. The vibes were immaculate and the service was great. It felt like a chill, homey, yet lively and exciting. Cannot wait to go back!

Chapulín Cantina is easily going to become a local fave for me. The entrees are authentic and exquisite; sure to pass the culture test. The staff are respectful and kind to all who enter. The design and detail of the interior is captivating; they succeed in bringing your imagination directly across the border in the most pleasant way. Special honors to the bartender for making any cocktail, a mock tail. Salud!
