We stayed here for a couple night in December 2020. This bed and breakfast is a beautiful historic house, and I was truly awed as soon as I stepped into our room! It was beautifully furnished with wood trim and beautiful furnishings. Downstairs was a most impressive library with tons of books, and our personalized breakfast was delicious! This was a very spur of the moment trip for us and it was really awesome to learn about all the Underground Railroad historical sites nearby and we also took the ferry over to Augusta KY which is a very cool little town with its own interesting historical attractions. We also saw the Ulysses S. Grant house that is close by and also the Cardboard Boat Museum, which I didn't know was a thing that existed in this world 🙂 David was very kind and very knowledgeable about the area and pretty much gave us our itinerary of things to do while there, so please use him as a resource, he is doing a very important function of keeping local history alive and sharing it with the rest of us! And he makes a fantastic breakfast 🙂 The house is beautiful, amazing artwork collection and our room was really just breathtaking- beautiful fireplace and jacuzzi, it’s a wonderful romantic getaway and everyone we encountered on our trip and at the home was exceptionally kind and helpful - it was a great experience!

We stayed there for our anniversary for 3 days and have never stayed at a bed and breakfast, this experience has definitely been a memorable one. Our stay was above our expectation.

David and Tracy was amazing. They accommodated our crazy stay by just being a blessing to us with their kindness, patience, and delicious breakfast every morning!

David had wonderful stories of the history and the view was awesome to wake up to. When we needed something he got it done in a timely matter, considering he has two houses he is overseeing.

We plan to come back with our kids soon.

I recommend Susanna's Guesthouse to anyone. It has blessed our anniversary in ways that they don't even know.

Mr. Samuel Clemens and I had the pleasure of staying again at Susanna's Guest House in Aug. 2019 for 3 nights. We were in town to portray Mark Twain and his wife Olivia as living historians for the local historical society and museum. The view of the Ohio River from the porch of the inn was a true inspiration for Mr. Twain's presentation about life along the river. We stayed in the Thomas and Susanna Ashburn Suite and enjoyed the river view from our antique-filled room in this beautiful Victorian mansion. The house is a diamond in the rough, undergoing some renovation but retaining its Victorian charm. Our gracious host David added to our stay by presenting us with the most delicious breakfast served at the time of our choosing. he also provided interesting stories about the history of the area and the house. We highly recommend a stay in this beauty along the Ohio River!

We desired to stay in an old B and B Close to the Ohio River. We thought this would be a great place after looking through the website. We were surprised and somewhat scared at what we experienced.||||We arrived after dark and the owner met us at the front door. When walking in we heard a large dog barking coming from one of the downstairs rooms. Upon questioning the owner said that he was allowing people to rent the rooms and stay there. We were puzzled by that but went along with it initially as he took us upstairs to our room. The room was not super clean and there were many things that we "needed to do" or things wouldn't operate correctly. For Instance: don't run the sink too long in the bathroom or water will come up through the floor. When entering the bathroom he went to turn the lights on and they didn't work. He said he would fix it in the morning and handed us a flashlight. He said that a guy rents out the room we were staying in but he's away on a job and he should have told him the lights were burned out. My wife's eyes began to itch and she asked him if there were cats in the building and there were. The person renting the room right across the hall had cats. She is highly allergic. We wanted to be cordial so we continued the tour. ||||After a long day of travel, we were ready to go get something to eat and come back and go to bed. The owner asked us to sit down and gave us a 30-minute history lesson on the house without a single breath where we might be able to interject how hungry/tired we were. We eventually told him we were going to eat and then return. Upon our arrival back to the house after eating, we noticed someone on the porch turning over every pot seemingly looking for a key. They eventually found the key and went right onto the house. It was at that point that we decided this was not the place for us. ||||We found the owner and told him everything we had experienced and that we didn't feel safe. He didn't even seem phased by it. Didn't apologize. Didn't try to make it right. Since we prepaid we asked for our money back and still have not received a refund. ||||DO NOT STAY HERE FOR ANY MOUNT OF MONEY! PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO WALK IN AND OUT OF THIS HOME AS IF THEY OWN IT. IT IS NOT A BED AND BREAKFAST IT'S A COMMUNITY FLOP HOUSE.

David is an excellent and entertaining host. Our room was clean and well furnished. Breakfast was substantial and good.
However, the air conditioner in our room barely worked and from time to time it stunk like hot mildew. It was so bad we turned it off at night and dealt with the heat and humidity using the ceiling fan. My biggest complaint is the fleas. I had bites all over my legs. I finally started wearing insect repellent when I was in the room.

My husband and I purchased an elopement package with Tracey at Susanna's Guest House and it exceeded expectations! She was highly responsive and accommodating every step of the way, making sure everything was to our preference.

The house is a large turn-of-the-century home repurposed into a B&B, which we immediately fell in love with. We entered our room to champagne, refreshments, and a delicious little lemon cake (and I don't even usually like cake!). The newly remodelled bathroom with shower and jacuzzi tub was a great surprise.

After freshening up a bit, we headed over to the house next door to meet Tracey for our little marriage. She performed a beautiful civil ceremony that left us in tears, then took a bunch of great pictures of us in and around the houses.

There was only one other couple staying in the house that night, and we had the upstairs to ourselves. Our room was tidy and clean, if a bit dusty in the corners - which was fine, just a part of staying in such an old house! The only thing that might have lost them a half-star (if Google allowed) was that the tub was a bit grimy. Also, there is no door separating the bedroom and bathroom, which I saw some other reviewers found disconcerting - I'd recommend a simple curtain be added to cover the doorway, just for a little more privacy.

In the morning, precisely at the time we'd requested, Tracey brought up a full, beautiful breakfast right to our door. Coffee, juice, omelette, pastries, fruit - the whole nine yards! We were ecstatic. I even took home the rest of the pastry that we didn't have room for.

Overall, for the $270 elopement package (which included a $40 gift certificate for the restaurant down the road), it was a complete steal! Perfect for nostalgia junkies and adventurers like us. 🙂

The innkeeper was very friendly but i can't recommend this place. Couldn't check in when we were supposed to because of a 'water emergency'. Two rooms that other members of my family stayed in were nice and appeared clean but my room...no...it was bad! Carpet was wet and covered with specs of plaster. Nasty dirty rug on bathroom floor...no light in the shower..could hardly see to adjust water. Smell got worse as the night went on..smelled like cat pee. When i woke up i sat in bed to check messages and a bug crawled across my leg. I jumped up and pulled covers back to reveal several small and two large bed bugs! I ended up throwing away the sleep pants and t-shirt i slept in to not risk taking them home with me. We didn't even eat breakfast there because cats were walking across the dining room tables! I was offered a different room but the bathroom i would have used was torn up and filthy! Was not charged for my room and other rooms were discounted...we got out and didn't stay the second night.

My husband and I took a step back in time and spent three nights at Susanna's Guest House and David could not have been more gracious. He owns the last two Victorian homes in New Richmond, Thank God, and he painstakingly has brought them back to life. We stayed in the Thomas & Susanna Ashburn Suite. It was a king bed, very comfortable, beautiful antiques, jacuzzi tub and a separate tiled shower. But my favorite thing of all was the bidet! You don't find these very often, especially in the states. A rare gem. Oh, the bathroom also has a ladies dressing table, very nice.

Each morning you enjoy a beautiful view of the river while enjoying a wonderful breakfast. You will not go away hungry. David will tell you all about the history of the houses and the town. It's very quaint and quiet. As you take your walk thru town you will come upon the town ducks and the honorary mayor, Jacob the peacock! He knows his name, don't be afraid to talk to him. He walked with us just like a dog. Take pictures!!

For dinner don't miss out on the Front Street Cafe, wonderful atmosphere, food, drinks and music.

David also has a canoe if you want to go for a ride down the river. He will do anything to accommodate you in anyway he can.

We had a wonderful time, if we come back to the Cincinnati area again, we'll definitely be calling David!
