A few weeks ago, I ordered a PBJ bagel and received a jelly bagel—no peanut butter. Flash forward to today: my husband bought me breakfast. I ordered a toasted bagel with butter and cream cheese. I got to work and discovered the bagel was plain (maybe a sprinkle of butter/no cream cheese)

I called the shop and spoke to the manager, who told me the employee claimed they added butter (because she remembers the butter being hard) and cream cheese. I asked if she wanted a picture for proof. She responded that I could take a picture or leave a review on the website. So here I am.

No attempt was made to resolve the issue. I’m disappointed but, sadly, not surprised.

We had an excellent experience at Barry’s in Sylvania. Our 3 year old is allergic to eggs and tree nuts, and the staff went over the allergen info meticulously and in order to cut down on cross contamination, they used all new utensils and took special care so that my son could safely eat a bagel and cream cheese. This was his first time ever having a bagel and cream cheese because of his allergies and we are so glad it could be at our favorite local bagel place! Thank you for the excellent experience!

My son and husband had a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese, and I had a chocolate chip bagel with cinnamon cream cheese. It was all delicious!

One word…. DELICIOUS 😋. If you haven’t tried Barry’s Bagels and you live in the area get up and go today.

Barry’s Bagels is my favorite bagel spot in the Toledo area. I generally get the corn beef bagel with Swiss cheese toasted and it never disappoints. The best thing about this location is that you can watch the bagels being made, and there’s also a space for you to sit and enjoy with large groups.

I have heard people rave about Barry’s tried the one in Michigan, was not impressed, tried the one in Sylvania…even more unimpressed. I suppose I am spoiled being a Yankee and having some of the best bagels in my life in NYC and Hollywood, Florida. The closest restaurant that sells legit bagels is New York Bagels in Ferndale, Michigan.

The service is terrible, even when you call ahead you wait 20 minutes for your order.

Dance moms requested some cookies last minute. Store was closing in 15 mins. I called, asked how many chocolate chip cookies they had, said I’d take them all and I’d be there right at closing! Great customer service that you only get at hometown places like this. That’s what makes the difference and a great business.

This place has gone to the rats since Barry died. The food is still tasty but the hygiene is deplorable and the service is slow and less motivated. The new ownership needs to wake up and focus on clean operations.

Bagel sandwiches were great. The cookies looked incredible, I didn't try any this time, but next time I come here I will have to grab a couple 😋 it's got the look and feel of a classic deli, very nostalgic. They sell more than just bagels, the other customers here were buying sliced meats which looked great as well.

A man just walked into the store, looked at a line of about 5 people, shook his head and walked out. All I can do is feel sorry for this man, because this is the type of food you wait for. Barry's is one of those Toledo establishments that I always have to visit when I'm in town.

Literally everything they have on the menu is good. Bagels? Obviously they are good. Get the everything if you are in a savory mood or try the vanilla swirl with some butter and cinnamon on it if you have a sweet tooth. They're tomato basil soup is excellent for dunking your sandwich into and the Mac and cheese is ooey and gooey just the way you like it. While you're at it you might as well take one of their gigantic warm cookies with you for dessert.

On top of that you always see a familiar face behind the counter. It's like coming back to your favorite bar. Once you've been there a few times the staff will recognize you.

If you don't know why I feel bad for that man who walked out, you should now.
