The lodge is still being upgraded. New flooring is going in, so some areas look messy. The rooms are nice. The food in the lodge is good, as are most of the Ohio lodges. There were a couple of large groups of kids staying there. The parents didn't supervise them very well. They
ran the halls yelling until 12:30 a.m. The lodge didn't do anything about it, so one of our nights was not pleasant.

Great stay at Deer Creek! I was a little concerned with several bad reviews but we enjoyed our stay. Lodge and rooms were clean. There were areas being renovated. Pool/hot tub were crowded as it was a holiday weekend, but our kids still enjoyed it. Water was warm and comfortable for them to swim indoors despite it being below zero outside. Pool area appeared to be recently renovated and was clean with plenty of chairs for parents. All in all, a nice state park lodge that was kid friendly.

Hiking trails were beautiful, but not well marked. We had lunch at the lodge. Portion sizes were small for the price. Service was slow even though there were only two other tables of diners. Restrooms were out of order.

I am glad we hiked the trails, but I would not go back to the restaurant.

My wife and I stayed here at the Deer Creek Lodge and Conference Center for this past New Year's Eve. She and I always do a First Day Hike on New Year's Day, and we like to change it up each year and not do the same place twice. We have stayed at other OH lodges, including Salt Fork and Hocking Hills. And, we liked the idea of a lodge environment to stay the night, happily Deer Creek Lodge served that purpose well for us.
Our room was great, comfortable, and met our needs for the night. The bed was comfy and gave us the rest that we needed to prepare for our hike. Initially we planned to spend some time at the bar in the lodge however, after venturing out to some local pubs and taverns for the night, we didn't get back to the lodge until much later than what she and I both expected!
We spent the morning having our coffee by the large stone fireplace and doing some shopping at the on site gift shop (which we were happy was open on New Year's Day) upon checking out we proceed our for an afternoon of hiking in the park. We both ejoyed every moment here and will return again.

Lodge is nice even with renovations. Restaurant and gift shop good too. Room was clean. We wanted to try this for romantic getaway and booked 2 nights. Security is needed & better policies. We had someone smoking pot in our wing since the time we got there made me sick. Then unattended children running all over all night so no sleep. Connecting room next to us, kids I think we're left unattended by adults. Kids screamed and were beating on inner door all night. At this rate front desk should space out people as we had miserable night. We checked out early in morning and a day early as we were exhausted. Front desk still charged us extra night even though we couldn't sleep nor breath. Offered another room after we already packed up. Should have just returned last night stay. Place and grounds are beautiful but parents are not accountable for their children and Front desk didn't seem to care when we left. Disappointed for a weekend getaway. While says smoke free it's not.

This resort could be very nice if it were managed by someone who understood the hospitality industry.
Location and a fancy website are not everything.
The hotel check in staff was very rude. I arrived at quarter to 4, and wanted to drop my bags in the room before a 4pm meeting in a conference room. The woman turned us away without even getting my name or checking if our room was ready, just - come back a little before 4. So we came back at 5 till,
after getting changed in a bathroom fit for an ancient sports stadium. 3 bathrooms stall doors were not functional. Came back and the line was 4 deep. Waited 10 min and finally got our room, dropped bags and arrived 15 min late to our meeting.

The pool is dangerously filled with too many unattended children. Literally sprinting around the edges, kids being thrown into the pool 10 feet away, 3 year olds running back and forth between the pool and the hot tub, splashing and running into the adults trying to enjoy the hot tub. The hot tub was also only half full with a nasty dirt ring around it.

Renovations underway, much needed for a hotel that looks straight out of the 70s.

I will not be back, the Hampton Inn is far more reliable and clean, and less expensive.

They listened to my complaint and gave me a discount for the situation of a bad stay. I thank them for working so professional and rendering the issues.

Very unsatisfied with my stay. Was offered 229 for 2 nights and was charged that for both nights, the prices for drinks in vending machines where outrageous and nothing for miles to be able to get. Random person walked in our room. The neighbors on both sides were very loud all night, The pool was over crowded and had little kids in the hot tub which wasnt working correctly and was very dirty. I've been here many times before and have NEVER had an experience like this. I want my money back! I will NOT be going back ever! Over 500$ isn't something you play with!

I didn't stay at the lodge or eat there, I was there for the Ohio Bowhunters Assn Expo. It's a nice lodge. However, the main bathrooms were closed for remodel. A big portable toilet trailer was brought in to accommodate patrons. I believe they remodeling on the pool side of the lodge, too.
