I wanted to try this place out because I saw they had some vegan options. Emailed them about dietary restrictions but never replied so I had to call and ask. There were only four sweets available that were vegan and I was told that the sourdough bread was vegan so only five vegan options.

Health score was a 90 as of October, 26, 2024.

No clear menu to know all items and does not say what the dietary restrictions are on the items.

The poppy seed lemon muffin and chocolate muffin was delicious.

In town to see family who recommended checking this spot out. As soon as we pulled up, I loved the look of the storefront. The beautiful flowered vines hanging over the entrance, with the antique wooden doors were so neat!

They have a large selection of fresh baked goods. I only got a poppy seed bagel with cream cheese. While I saw some of the prices of the cakes to be a bit pricey, the bagel complete with cream cheese was less than a 1.50!

Lots of other items for sale there in addition to their baked goods.

There are no tables inside but you can find a few of them outside.

This place is always incredible, but TODAY- THEY WERE AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME. The baguette, first of all, it the most heavenly fluff I've ever had in my life. Ripped off a piece, and the bread squished and re-fluffed to the original shape... what!?!? Heaven. The everything bagel- 15/10, pan au chocolate was also the most delectable one in existence. Always the best coffee in town. Thanks, Continental, for making my day and ruining every other bakery for me! I love you.

Continental Bakery has always been an all time favorite. They have delicious sandwiches, quiche, soups and wonderful tarragon chicken salad. The bakery is excellent for all of your bread needs, love their sour dough. They have an array of pastries , cookies , pies and cakes. A little on the higher end of price but I think all of the bakeries are about the same nowadays. Totally worth the price for a now and again and go-to bakery.

I wanted to like this place so bad. It was a weekend trip for my mom in which we drove 3hrs and I brought her here because she loves french pastries. We were looking forward to it today.
After spending nearly $50 on two mini pies, I thought "this is going to be sooo worth it, because how else could they sell these at this price and still be in business"!
I got the cherry and the apple mini pies. Tonight we cut into this little gem in the box and we're instantly DISGUSTED!!!! The apple pie for one barely had any apple filling in it compared to the domed crust, lots of empty air space in there. Not what a $22 pie should be. Next was the bite I threw out of my mouth instantly, it tasted awful!!!! This cannot be right. We turned the lights brighter and examined what looked like moldy, bad apples that were dry and no pie filling substance at all. The smell was putred as well....of metal and gross rot or something went bad.
The cherry pie was a step up, but also dry as in just cherries and no filling type substance you find in a pie and like the apple, a large air space between cherries and the crust.
This place could be amazing, but how are you going to charge these prices for below subpar pies?
Lesson learned....don't spend $50 on two small desserts, even if they look good on the outside. So sad.

Referred here by a friend. We got some fresh meal, some shortbread cookies and greens pie. The cookies were good...very thick, but good. We used the cornmeal and it was really good. The greens pie however, tasted like refrigerator (the crust). The greens inside were very plain and there was no cheese, tho listed in the ingredients. This "pie" for a 6" was 20$. I just looked it up because the cashier didn't give us a receipt and we had no idea how much it was. Too much money for something that tasted so awful, but at least we could eat the cornbread.
Very cute store, but will try another bakery next time.

On a recent trip to Birmingham I stopped here and became a fan at first bite! ? I first noticed the cute look of the bakery and appreciated the friendly staff inside. There were so many delicious looking treats to select from that I was indecisive. I ended up picking several treats including a mini carrot cake as well as a latte. I definitely will be making another visit when I return to Birmingham.

We ordered a coconut cake for something different, but despite excellent flavor in the frosting we were disappointed. The cake itself was dry and crumbly to the point that I questioned if it was made with wheat flour or some nut flower like the chocolate cake is. For almost $100 I expected better and I have to assume that because this one was made to order that it wasn't old so it must just be the recipe.
