Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I needed to remain in the Mount Gilead region for almost a week. Scot and Cindy and the Rose Heart Inn was such a blessing in my time of need. They went above and beyond to make me feel at home, and accommodated every need (and more!) that I had. I was stranded there in just the clothes I was wearing but Cindy was even able to find a set of clothes for me to change into while they helped with my laundry. These people are the most generous, kind hearted people you will ever meet and though I went through something awful, I felt safe, comfortable, and at ease during my time here.
The rooms are adorable, and though maybe not technologically modern, have a quaint charm about them that makes up for it. Everything, down to the wallpaper, little accents in the bathroom, the parlor, library, and more radiate Victorian charm and demonstrate the owner's attention to detail to recreate an authentic experience. I felt like royalty breakfasting here every morning, with the table immaculately set, and the wonderful selection of food (their coffee is great btw)! Lots of locally sourced items and everything lovingly made by Scot.
I will never forget the couple days I spent here. Most of all, it will always remain in my memory as a testament to the generosity and hospitality I experienced in this region of Ohio, exemplified first and foremost by Scot and his family. If I were ever in the area, I would 100% come back to this charming B&B.

We ended up in Mt Gilead staying at the Rose Heart Inn completely by accident, but it turned out to be an incredible blessing to have found this place. Scott and Cindy are incredible hosts who went above and beyond to take care of us in a time of need. The inn has a lovely cozy feel and is a perfect place to explore Mt Gilead and the surrounding area. The hosts are very thoughtful and nice people who made the stay comfortable and enjoyable. The food was tasty and prepared with care, the bed was clean and comfy, and the WiFi was fast. Would definitely stay with them again if I find myself in this area.

My wife and I’s first experience at a B&B. I have to say it looked fantastic and the room was really nice. We were told breakfast would be at 9am. I went down at 8am to make some coffee for my wife and I and no one was around. Went back to room got ready and waited until 9am and came down and waited in the parlor. The only form of life we saw was an elderly lady in sweats and socks and just kept staring at us and we said good morning and she just kind of ignored us. Saw her 3 times between 9am-10am. My wife texted the owner at 9:45am asking about breakfast and no response. We continued waiting until 10:25am and decided to just pack up and leave and find someplace local to get a bite to eat. Once we got to breakfast my wife texted again sharing her disappointment and still no response. I don’t want to negatively impact a local business and hurt them. I do want to share my experience however. Like I said, gorgeous place but service and communication is very poor.

Our kids gave us a gift certificate to the Rose Heart Inn for Christmas. We have, in the last few years, stayed in at least a dozen Bed and Breakast Inns, and have never felt more unwelcome. When we arrived, we heard (whom we assumed was) Mrs. Long say, "I'm not going out there to talk to those people" to the older woman who greeted us. We were then left sitting in the lobby for about 15 minutes. When Mr. Long came downstairs, he finally checked us in. He then asked if we were going to want breakfast. We said yes, as we specifically stay at B & B's for the fabulous breakfasts we've come to expect. We were then informed, after he checked with Mrs. Long, (who still had not come out to acknowledge us) that there would be no "gourmet breakfast" as advertised on their website, but we could have a donut or muffin because he would be handling breakfast. He then let us know that the other six days a week there is an actual hot breakfast.
I have no idea what Mrs. Long's issue was with us, as the only communication we've ever had was to make the reservation, but the behavior we witnessed was completely inappropriate.
After being shown to our room, we found out there is no wifi, and just sitting on the bed was uncomfortable. So we left. Just a horrible experience all around.

What a horrific experience. I was scheduled to arrive at 7:30pm. When I knew I would be a bit later I called to let them know and was told it would be know problem. When I arrived I was checked in by a young man in his bare feet and when I asked why the price I was given over the phone was $10 more than the website I was told that was a mistake that he’d have to fix but wasn’t offered that price which I should have been because that’s false advertising. He said he’d have to fix the website pricing. And then even though they were expecting me from 4pm my room wasn’t ready. So I had to sit in the sitting room and then a different man came in and said room was ready and took me upstairs. Then I was told I couldn’t use the jacuzzi because it leaked. That was one of the main reasons I chose the place. Then to top it off I was told that he was the chef and he had to teach in the morning so I would have to wait until after 10 to get a hot breakfast or I could get a cold continental breakfast at 7am. 2nd reason I chose this place. I’d been on the road for many miles and I was looking forward to a relaxing soak and a hot breakfast. I got neither. I was told I could use the shower or the tub but the jacuzzi jets were filthy no way I was sitting in that tub. And the rest of the room was dirty as well. Layers of dust and cobwebs. Towels were old thin and musty smelling. I wasn’t offered another room with a working jacuzzi even though I was the only guest. I was so tired at this point I just took a shower and went to bed. Left early the next morning and went to a restaurant for breakfast. I couldn’t stay until 10am to eat and honestly the condition of the room did not make me feel confident in even the continental breakfast. So disappointed. What was supposed to be a nice break from the road was a $112 nightmare. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!!

Room was not ready when we arrived; room was pretty. Breakfast was to be at 9am (started prep at 9?) Got main dish 9:50. If you are on a time schedule, let innkeeper know that). It is on a main road and you can hear large trucks going up and down hill.

Loved the Location of this Inn and how well maintained it was. The gardens were absolutely beautiful and very peaceful! The inside was gorgeous with all the antiques and especially the stained glass. Loved all the little details throughout the Victorian house! Our host/owner was very welcoming and enjoyed hearing about the property. We only had one issue and that was with the breakfast service. We were told each day to be in the dining room at 9am…. But unfortunately our host did not have any help and it took him almost 45 minutes to serve us. Don’t know what was going on, but wish he either would have begun earlier so it was ready, or told us not to arrive until 10am, and we could have slept a little longer. Otherwise we loved the room, grounds and other amenities like free parking on property.

Very disappointed. I had been traveling for many miles and many days and was really looking forward to what was advertised. I called and booked room over the phone. I told them my eta would be around 7:30 pm. When I was going to be later I called back to let them know that. I got there and when I was being checked in I asked about the pricing because he quoted me a price of $105 over the phone but on their website the charlotte was listed as $95. I was told that was an error and he’d have to fix it but was not given that price which I feel should have been honored. Then he started taking me up to my room after showing me the kitchen and dining room, asking if 9 am breakfast was fine, and we heard a vacuum going. My room wasn’t ready so I had to wait in sitting room. Then a different person came out and took me up to the room where I was told the jacuzzi didn’t work. Told I could shower or bathe but not to use the jets. Then I was told if I wanted a full hot breakfast I would have to wait until 10 am or I could have continental at 7am. I was so tired at this point I just said continental I guess. I couldn’t wait until 10 because of travel itinerary. I’m very disappointed at this point because the whole reason for staying was to treat myself. The jacuzzi and hot breakfast were why I booked it in the first place. I was never offered the option of switching to room where jacuzzi worked (maybe none of them do)even though I was the only guest. Then I start looking around and the room is just filthy. Dust and cobwebs. Layer of dust on ceiling fan. The jets in tub were disgusting so even taking a hot bath is not an option. Vintage decor is one thing but the linens and towels were old and musty smelling. No pillow liners just a filthy flat pillow with an old threadbare pillow case on it. I’m so tired at this point I just want to cry. I’ve just spent $112 for a room that is dirty…I’m not going to soak in a jacuzzi and now I’m not even going to get a hot breakfast! The breakfast details and jacuzzi information should have been explained when I called. It’s just dishonest and awful business practice. Took advantage of a weary traveler. I left early and went and bought myself a hot breakfast. What a shame. It’s a beautiful home and the furnishings are amazing. But that’s where any good quality ended. So I advise you to steer clear of this place.
