Wonderful escape from hectic everyday life. Love the peace and quiet. A lot of space to hike, boat or just to enjoy the beautiful property. Especially love the deer that visit at dusk and dawn right outside of our room at the lodge!
The restaurant is very good but a bit pricey. Staff very friendly and helpful. We frequent Salt Fork at least once a year.

Update: I did receive an email from the manager. That doesn't fix all the issues that we had but it definitely makes a difference. All of our past stays have been great. The restaurant has always been a hit or miss experience. We will be back in the future. Hopefully it was just a bad night.

We have stayed at Salt Fork numerous times over the past 30 years. This stay at the lodge was not a good experience. If you stay, don't count on the restaurant for food. Maybe best to skip the restaurant on New Year's all together.
The activities director was great and she did the very best she could to keep the kids entertained. They did have a good time.

Lovely and expansive lodge in a very remote location (for Ohio!), that exudes the spaciousness and grandness of the forward looking early 1970’s. It sadly needs work and some cleanliness issues are evident of careless guests. The restaurant and pub are staffed by super-friendly people, and the food is excellent. Just that the structure needs a little tlc.

Stayed many times here. It is a state park staffed with friendly people. The lodge and grounds are beautiful. It is comfortable and spacious. A lot of areas to sit and relax. The fireplaces are inviting and cozy. There are so many opportunities and areas to enjoy that we never tire of visiting Salt Fork. And by the way, the restaurant offerings and staff are amazing.

This November, my wife and I had our Wedding at Salt Fork. Words cannot describe how perfect and seamless our entire experience was. Starting back in February when we chose Salt Fork as our venue, we were welcomed with a great communication line with Christie and Brittney. They answered all of our questions with care and made sure every little detail for our big day was exactly how we wanted it. The setting of the 4th floor for our ceremony and reception made for an absolutely stunning venue. The lodge and park were full of spectacular backdrops for all of our photos. The day of experience was beyond all of our expectations. The entire lodge’s staff seemed to be very engaged with the fact that our wedding was going on, and treated all of our family that traveled with the best hospitality that you would hope for on such a big day. The service staff during our reception was top notch, and the bartender was a fan favorite with our family. Could not recommend Salt Fork enough to anyone looking for a relaxing and picturesque getaway wedding.

Overall experience was great. Little issue about the amenities was not really a big deal. The price of the pizza is right. Last thanksgiving holiday when we order the pizza, it tastes great, but this time Christmas holiday was not so, different times and it was not a big deal we still ate it. This time we have to haul out belongings by foot from the third floor a wing down to second floor b wing because the elevator was not working. It gives us time to work together as family. It was an adventure in it self. Because we have to haul going up when we check out.

It was such a letdown staying here.. i wanted it to be great because we love salt fork and hike here frequently. We planned a fun day at the Columbus zoo and then decided to stay the night at salt fork so we could wake up and swim the next day.. However, we had a horrible experience staying here. The rooms were very dirty (there was trash stuffed beside the bed and tables, and then there was an old pretzel left on the floor as well). Then, late at night, our phone rang and disturbed all of our very sleepy children and honestly creeped us adults out. Then the cherry on top... we had only decided to stay at salt fork so we could take the kids swimming ( I live close and absolutely would not have brought my kids to stay the night here for any other reason) they had closed the pool for maintenance and didn't tell us it would be closed when we booked our stay and we had specifically asked about the pool.. management was snarky with us, as our kids were very upset because the whole point of our stay was to go swimming. All they did was give a $25 refund, and offered our kids a junk toy each..which was a slap in the face when we had spent over a $150 on a room for absolutely no reason other than the fun of swimming. I know things dont always go according to plan, but we would have been happy if they had told us we could come back a different day to swim, but that did not happen. Go somewhere else. This place doesn't care about their guests, and honestly, it's gross, and most things are broken, including the elevators!
The "management" team needs to learn how
to let guests know that during their stay, there will be tons of work being done on the lodge during their stay BEFORE they already have our money! And the $25 they gave us back didn't even come close to the cost it took us to drive to the nearest indoor pool and pay to swim there! Such a joke

We are from Ohio and have stayed at Salt Fork (and many other state lodges) over the years, and will continue to do so. That said, our recent stay was so ridiculously terrible that it's too much to list in a review, and as supporters, we don't want to put the place on blast because our stays in the past (5+ years ago) have been great. The serious issues at this property are only partially due to it being under renovation, but most of them are not. As a traveler wait a year or so before booking to allow for a reset. We have contacted the manager of the property directly and look forward to returning to visit in the future. In the meantime, Mohican is an excellent alternative if traveling with family and looking for a lodge with a great pool.
