We booked a two bed room with this hotel through our credit card. Our reservation from our credit card confirmed that we had two bed room. We had two adults and two teenage children with us. Upon arriving at the hotel we were told our reservation was for a king bedroom suite. Since it was late, we made due with the king bed and absolutely terrible pullout couch that was filled with crumbs. Spoke to the manager on duty first thing the next morning. She assured me that we would be moved to a two bed room. Upon arriving back at the hotel we were informed that we will not be moved to a new room. The manager didn't even have the courtesy to speak to me, much less offer any other sort of resolution. Stay away from this hotel. Even though this is the closest hotel to Samford, book somewhere else. Terrible service and a dirty room.

My husband and I struggle to find a hotel with consistently good service in or near downtown Birmingham. I regularly take early morning flights to see my mother and we live an hour away. I don't drive well in the dark so we stay near the airport for a quick early morning ride. ||This hotel nearly met and even exceeded out standards on many fronts. We love having the balcony to get fresh air. Far too many people -- even ones who smoke outdoors -- leave the smell of cigarettes in hotel rooms and it's not helpful to anyone who is allergic to smoke like I am. This was a very clean room with fresh air and I loved the upgrade to a suite. ||The downsides? Well, the woman working at the eating area needed help. My food was room temperature by the time I got it. I didn't complain because she was clearly overwhelmed.||Also, the refrigerator in my room was so high, the yogurt I got to eat the next morning was rock hard! Thankfully, the front desk person let me switch it out. ||But all in all, this is an excellent hotel. I even loved the sounds of the children playing in the pool. You will feel safe here and there are lots of dining options nearby should you not want to pay for the food which is a bit wee, or high, like most hotel food. Still the service was great. My hats off to the workers in this hotel for dealing well with what most businesses are dealing with: small, overworked staffs.

Was in Homewood for the first time for business, and stayed at this Courtyard which was in a convenient location right by the hospital, shopping center across the street and corporate parks. It's in a nice area overall with hills and trees all around.||The layout is different than your typical hotel or Courtyard in that it has a courtyard in the middle where the pool is outdoors. It's nice for a relaxing time on the balcony or outside the patio door in you are on the ground level. ||The room is quite minimalist / plain. Not that big either. On the plus side - there was a standing shower. The room did provide a good night sleep. They had plenty of firm pillows unlike so many hotels where your head goes straight thru the pillow onto the mattress. And the HVAC controls allowed for a steady temperature throughout the day/night. I could hear some neighboring noise through the connecting noise even though the guest in the next room wasn't being that allowed. There was also no bottles of water in the room which seems to be the Courtyard way nowadays.||The gym was small - a little disappointed in it. No exercise bike and just a few machines or stations.||I do expect to be in the area 1-2X a year and I'd be satisfied in staying at this Courtyard again.

We stayed at this hotel the night before a procedure at the hospital. Our room was upgrades to a suite. It was a wonderful room on the bottom floor with a sliding door (which had a safety bar). The doors opened to a beautiful courtyard with flowers and a fire pit. The bathrooms was small, probably due to being an older hotel. Next time we are in the area I will definitely stay at this hotel.

Positive: There was nothing in particular I liked ?best? Negative: This a a very basic Marriot courtyard that has not been updated. When I have Stayed at Courtyards before they weremuch newer, nicer and in local with easy access to shopping and restaurants. I wouldn?t go back.

I loved this hotel! Fresh Fields right across the road within walking distance so I could stock the fridge with healthy snacks and meals while I'm working - clean quiet pool just outside my ground floor room with sliding glass doors to my own little patio - very spacious and clean room too! Had a little hiccup connecting my phone to the Internet but the receptionist was very helpful and connected me with tech support who manually added my device. I'll stay here again when I'm back in town! Thanks for the great service!

Property is in a good location, and reasonably well maintained. However, the staff is barely trained and appear extremely unmotivated. Plus, the food is crazy expensive. We had two cups of coffee for $11+. I like Courtyards but this one is a poor value

The lady working the front desk was polite, but even though I checked in (hours in advance) with an accurate arrival time on the app, someone still had to physically go check the room to make sure it had been cleaned. I chose this hotel based on location because I was having ankle surgery the next morning.... when I tell you it was a hike to the room, I mean it was 100 yards to get to the elevator, then another hundred yards back to my room (approx directly above the check in desk). That's a lot of walking, but also worsened by being on crutches with a broken leg. Had I not been pretty perturbed about the distance, I probably wouldn't have noticed the water stains and damage on the ceiling or other petty things, but the room could have used some work if you're going to have to walk that far to get to it. ? Hindsight, I should have booked elsewhere.
