I searched for a nice B&B for my wife and I to get away to for a weekend and I came across The Colonel Taylor Inn and am so happy I did. The owner Carol is a wonderful woman who offers her home to you and goes out of her way to make you feel at home there. The house itself is amazing! It oozes history. We loved learning all about it and Colonel Taylor and his family. We were both so relaxed there, we didn't want to leave. We have been away for a day and have already planned our next trip there. The Rose Room is so nice, a king size bed and a king sized bathroom with fireplaces in both the room and bathroom. The breakfasts are served in a beautiful dining room where you can get to know the other guests and the food was delicious. Carol keeps sweet treats out through the day to enjoy and offers wine and other snacks in the afternoon. The craftsmanship throughout the house is incredible! I am so happy I found this place.

We enjoyed visiting this amazing house on the last night of our cross-country road trip. Woodwork & period details all lovingly restored. Tons of antique china to admire. We loved our comfortable spacious room, and huge bathroom with working fireplace. Our innkeeper was friendly & welcoming, offered tea & refreshments on arrival, even though she really had a houseful. Our breakfast was homemade fresh & delicious, served in beautiful dining room. Thank you for everything Carol!

We picked Cambridge as a midway spot to meet up with some good friends for a couple of days, and we booked two rooms at the Colonel Taylor Inn without knowing anything about the Inn. The Inn turned out to be a highlight of the trip! The hostess was friendly and helpful; even suggested that we might want to skip dessert at dinner that night because she was going to bake a cake. The Inn was a beautifully restored 1878 home, already decked out for Christmas. The rooms were all large and attractively decorated, and I think they all had working gas fireplaces. The whole place was totally relaxing. There was comfortable seating available in several first floor rooms, homemade cookies on the entry sideboard, and dishes of various types of chocolates set out. The cake that the hostess made was delicious, and she shared the recipe with us when we asked. In the morning we were served a scrumptious full breakfast in the formal dining room and got to see a few of the other guests. We can't recommend this B&B more highly! We will definitely go there again.

Thank you, Carol, for sharing your magnificent mansion beautifully decorated for Christmas with us. We are grateful to people who have a passion for historic homes, lovingly care for them and share the experience with others. The history of Colonel Taylor adds to the historical interest. Add the wonderfully enjoyable courthouse light and music show and the Charles Dickens village and it was a perfect getaway. We enjoyed getting to know Carol. She has accomplished so much, is such a generous person, and also completely down to earth. Delightful. We even smelled Colonel Taylor’s pipe smoke in the dining room in the evening : ) We will return as soon as possible.

We wanted to celebrate in Cambridge to get into the Christmas spirit! We weren't disappointed. Carol is the owner and was hands on during our stay. Home made goodies and a lovely breakfast. The house is a fabulous old victorian that shouts history and days gone by. A good nights sleep after a great day in town with a parade, light show and carriage ride. The prefect bed and breakfast for a night in Cambridge.

We had such a comfortable and wonderful night at the Colonel Taylor on Friday September 14th. The owners were so welcoming and friendly. The Ambience was spot on to the period in which the Home had been built. The architecture was amazing and the home itself was utterly spectacular. Breakfast was served in the formal dining room and was delicious. We had an amazing time.

The home is beautiful and comfy. The staff (no employees of the Inn.2 ladies who live there, but not in charge, a couple who use to live there ( but ran in for a moment thankfully), and the owner are very nice down to earth people. However things seem to run by the seat of everyone's pants ( for a lack of better term). || My husband and I decided to do a last minute romantic overnight to celebrate his birthday. Our destination was Historic Cambridge and decided to try our first B&B. Our friends have raved about their stays at different B&B's. We chose the Rose room.|| Before leaving our home the owner Carol called asking what time we were checking in I told her we would be there by 3:00pm maybe a few mins. before. She needed to know as she had earrands and knowing the time would assure her timely return.|| We arrived at 2:50pm were greeted by a women who said she was there to let us in and pick up Carols grandkids. She showed us to our room and said Carol would be here soon to greet us. We looked around and settled our things in and decided to set off sight seeing. There were no fresh fruit, cookies or any type of beverage in the room ( as stated on the website). || As we returned to the Inn (5:30pm) another couple walked in with us. Very nice people turns out they had previously lived at the Inn and were there to pick something up.The husband tried to light the fireplace in our bedroom but was broken. The wife gave me a tour of the house and helped to find a spot for my bottle of wine in the overstuffed refrigerator (1 of 3) designated for the guests. We were the only guest that evening, much to our surprise as this was Thanksgiving weekend. She said Carol had been there while we were out. Carol did return before we went out for the evening, She apologized for the fireplace not working. My husband and I had a beautiful evening. || Saturday morning we take our showers no bar soaps, no conditioner ( I find this out when I'm already in the shower boy was I upset) the bath gel is bath & body crisp apple ( only choice) fine for me but my husband wasn't to happy about having to wash with fruity soap. The shampoo, and body lotion were 3/4's used. I was uncomfortable about that but as I didn't bring those items ( my very 1st time not packing my bath products) I used the shampoo, lesson learned don't believe everything you read. Also no bath beads as stated on web. || For breakfast we had scrambled eggs, toast w/jam, overcooked ham (reheated & leftover from Thanskgiving wasn't upset about leftovers but shouldn't have been so dry), grapes oj, and coffee. Not sure if this is qualifies as 5 course gourmet. The owner had left before we came down at 9:00am. || This is a beautiful place to stay but the owner needs to spend a more time on the details, change her website so that guests lower their expectations or hire someone to run the place. This was our first B&B but will be staying at others so we'll have something to compare with.
