I was at an event at the Birmingham convention center which was only about 1.5 miles away. I do not believe in spending $200-$300 a night for a bed and a shower, this was that. I have stayed in plenty of 2-3 star places and this one was not bad. Bed and shower was clean, AC worked, no noise from the hwy, dark, except for the dead roach on the bathroom floor. I am from Colorado, we do not have those, it wasn't a big deal and I had them come take it out. TV sucked, bad cable connection but was able to figure it out, screwed in the cable but the remote still never worked very well - usually don't watch a lot of TV, but had some unexpected down time. The location is close to the event center, but not a damn thing is close to it, restaurants, stores, etc - industrial area for sure. Never felt unsafe though, but if you don't have a car, expect to get a ride to anywhere you want to eat (which does add up!). If for some reason I am back there, I might stay there, but would prefer to stay where there are at least a few places to grab a bite in walking distance. It is off the highway so maybe travelers stop for the night there. If you have a small budget, there are worse places to stay - and I have been in them!

Yes, the location was good, but the cleanliness was awful, there was pubic hairs in the bathroom, tub, toilet and on the shower wall. There was black mold on the ceiling above the shower. The sheets and blanket had cigarette all over and the air conditioner was not working properly. For $80.00 it was not worth it at all but I was traveling and it was late and I needed to sleep.

This motel is very run down and is polluted with drug activity and sketchy people. It’s not somewhere that feels safe and welcoming. The owners ride around on gold carts watching all the suspicious activity but it doesn’t seem like anything gets done about it. Creepy crawlers in the rooms

I am not sure why this hotel got so many bad reviews but the location and the room that we stayed in was excellent. We stayed in Room 112 and the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower was hot. I also did not see one bug. Even the outside breezeway was clean. Also the freezer/fridge combo was so cold. So don’t be alarmed by the bad reviews. I was skeptical at first myself but upon entering the room my opinion changed. So give it a try. Thanks Tourway Inn for your service. Will stay again if we are back in the area.
