Wow! Our family booked a last minute for New Year's Eve. We couldn't have been happier with our decision. What a beautiful place to stay and such an accommodating staff. The night time fire and view was amazing.
The rooms were incredible The View was second to none. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and after a very nice conversation with her we will be back. We also took an hour this morning and invited all of our friends that we could think of to enjoy this beautiful manor.
Thanks for the hospitality ladies.
It's very refreshing to he welcomed as family by strangers. We can't wait to come back in the spring.

When we first arrived here for a multi day visit, it almost felt like they were not ready for our visit. There was someone else tending to the bed and breakfast and she was trying her best. However, with a five day stay I expected a little more. On the day before we left the actual owner came, and there seemed to be a shift in how the place was run. This is how I was expecting the entire trip to be. |We reserved the larger room with a suite area that comes with its own front room and then upstairs to your bedroom and bathroom. This would’ve been worked better if we could’ve actually got the TV set to work in the living room. My husband is NOT I.T. challenged and yet he still could not get it to function. I asked the helper and she was unable to get the TV to start. |The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom itself is very spacious. The bathroom was very spacious with a claw foot tub and a huge walk-in double shower. There are double sinks in the bathroom. There was no daily room service available. |Location is convenient and quiet. Parking was not adequate for as many rooms that they have. Give them a try as they are really trying to improve themselves. Their attitude was very pleasant.

It was a Merry Christmas at McTernan Manor with its charm being built in 1888 we all love hanging out here. It’s lots of fun and laughs. We had a delicious dinner with friends and family. Thankful for the gifts that we received from each other sharing in a beautiful day. We all love the owner Kate making us feel we are part of her family in so many ways.

I’m not even sure where to start. From the time we drove up the drive to the time we left it was the most wonderful experience. This is only our second stay at a B & B but we can’t say enough. The rooms are super nice and the house itself is a gem. We enjoyed two great breakfasts cooked by Amy and better yet was talking with her and getting to know her story. The house is located a short “beautiful “ drive to 2 waterfalls and shopping at the highland and cashiers. And better yet just a few miles aways are some of Franklin fun Eateries and brewers. Highly suggest trying cafe rel ||This B & B will not disappoint

I stayed at the most charming 1800’s B&B in Franklin, NC called McTernan Manor, a true Hidden Gem. Owner Kate is accommodating and delightful. Suites are spacious, comfortable and private. ||Amy prepared a lovely breakfast each morning that I was there and, while I’m not a breakfast eater, I’m sure it was delicious and fresh coffee is appreciated. ❣️||Fire pits, hammocks, and Charm, all at a fair price. I’ll be back

This is a beautiful old manor. My daughter, a friend and I spent Christmas 2024 here. Amy, the manager, is delightful. Donna, the housekeeper, is so sweet. The atmosphere both inside and surrounding grounds make this the perfect get-away. Any issues I had with expectations I addressed with the proprietor, Kate. Some of these are out of her control through no fault of her own. Communication! Communication! Communication. This house is NOT Handicap Accessible!!!

Kate, I apologize for Cheryl's behavior. I have known her casually for several years but had no idea how vehemently she claims victimhood. I paid for the extra room when she asked if she could join us. Needless to say, she will not be going anywhere with us again. I guess you don't really know someone through casual acquaintance. My daughter and I had a great time and it was the relaxing time we had hoped for (minus the whining). I accept responsibility for not ensuring the Handicap obstacles which I managed to overcome without incident. Thank you and your staff! Hope everyone has a great New Year!

I recently stayed at the Mcternan manor with my friends. They were gracious to invite me to come with them. The house was beautiful and surrounding areas. Our room was lovely and comfy except the bathroom wasn't fit for my friend who is disabled. She couldn't use the very deep tub or she would have fell. She tried to use an alternate shower and water was either hot or cold no regulating it to warm. There were warning signs of many little steps on the way to the bathroom and in the hallways. Most of all one of the guests controlled the kitchen making an undercooked roast which by my own decision ate it anyway because I was hungry and we were not able to cook the food we brought since this guest over ruled the kitchen. I was violently ill with severe cramps, throwing up the meat and runs so bad not being able to leave the toilet for hours. This was food poisoning without a doubt. No apology from the guest, no acknowledgement from Kate the owner. But this was not what I thought a b&b should be and my body went through absolute hell. Go somewhere where you can cook your own food and safe environment for a disabled friend.

Dear Kate
In response to your comment.
1. You should add in the description that this house does Not provide handicapped features for disabled individuals.
2. All rooms were occupied therefore making other bathroom options unavailable except for the common bathroom in the hall which was not functional for warm water.
3.Food poisoning can affect one person even though others ate the same food. Not everyone will necessarily get food poisoning even if they eat the same thing. In healthy individuals, stomach acid kills food poisoning-inducing bacteria, while lactic acid bacteria in the intestines create an environment that prevents bacteria which cause food poisoning from multiplying.
However, persons with relatively weaker immune systems (lower resistance to disease) such as children and senior citizens as well as adults with weakened immune systems due to health reasons can get food poisoning more easily. In addition, the time at which food poisoning emerges as well as the strength of symptoms can vary depending on the amount of food poisoning-inducing bacteria ingested.
Also one of my friends did not feel well after dinner and my other friend did not eat the roast because she identified it being undercooked. I happened to get violently ill and was feeling great before that. You obviously are not versed about the facts of food poisoning so I will not continue about the subject or defend myself.
4. One more thing which was confirmed by a friend there who is knowledgeable in cuts of meat, is that the meat was not prime rib, it was a cut of roast but not rib meat which was undercooked. Again I did partake because I was very hungry and the other guest controlling kitchen told us there was no room in the oven for our chicken we brought to make our Christmas dinner.
Read my initial review and I won't have to repeat myself.
Please take my comment as constructive criticism and not an offensive one.
I'm not taking any further action and pray you learn from mistakes as I have in my life.
Take care
Cheryl
NEW UPDATE RESPONSE TO MARYANNE:
I found your review absolutely hilarious after you complained the entire time about how the home was so dangerous for disabled individuals, complained about no breakfast and that Amy was always late who was to prepare breakfast, said the Christmas dinner meat looked bad and you chose not to eat it and you were uncomfortable with the people at the dinner table. In addition you used this format to bash me who was your devoted friend for several years. You boasted how you made Kate cry during your conversation with her. Shame on you Maryanne. Maybe you should reconsider your words about others when you sit outside and chain smoke all day, each day we were there. What a horrible experience but an eye opener as to the person you really are.
