Charlie F. with the valet service was superb! He made us feel welcomed and relaxed immediately upon arrival and departure. Our room was upgraded to face the pool deck with a king bed. Comfy bed, gorgeous room, shower was a bit short but it’s expected in an 100 year old building. Excellent walkability and nearby restaurants. Wish there was more fire pits on the pool. Also wish they did not allow smoking on the pool deck and on the streets of Savannah.

The hotel was very nice, clean lobby. The provisions bar was really nice had outside seating too. The front desk was friendly and efficient . If you see John Earl he’s very funny and can give you tips on where to go but if he mentions McDough Irish pub don’t go unless you like bad bad comedy. We had a third floor room overlooking the pool. It was a very clean room, comfy beds but high beds. We didn’t realize the windows opened til the second night during the night it opened….. there was a nice breeze. The hallway clean but dimly lit. My sister around 2am swore she heard a child crying for her mom. Myself and are other friend did not hear it. We got up to check the hallway nobody around….The pool area was really nice but pool bar must be seasonal and they advertised heated pool but it’s not. It still was nice to soak tired feet in cold pool after walking all day. The valet guys and lady were really nice gave us ideas on where to go. It is a very charming, older hotel in the heart of the historical area. We definitely will stay there again .

There’s so many amazing reasons to stay at the De Soto hotel. My experience was stellar. As a former hotel executive and difficult New Yorker, I noticed the little things. Here are a few reasons why I recommend the De Soto hotel?|1)The hotel is beautiful and kind of famous, even Elvis Presley stayed here|2)The staff is absolutely amazing. I had a problem. They immediately had the director of operations come down and talk to me. He took care of my problem at the highest level. I can’t say enough good things about the customer service at this hotel.|3) It is essentially located close to everything. We literally saw every museum in the city and walked everywhere.|4) The food in the restaurant is excellent. I highly recommend getting breakfast there every single day.|5) Their attention to detail is terrific even though toiletries are high-quality and this is the one hotel I’ve been to recently that included a shower cap. I don’t know one woman who washes her hair every day.|6) Amazing views from my room|7) They give you a $10 credit towards food for every day you don’t use the Cleaning Lady. My husband loves to save a dollar and when he starts to pee her out at 4 PM after touring all day, he loves a good cup of coffee, which, of course the hotel has a lovely coffee shop, and he was even more excited that he was able to use this credit|8) The beds are very comfortable and the climate control works great it’s not a noisy system that clicks on and off all night like many hotels.|9) Priced well we like to stay in nice hotels and they can run up to $500 a night. This hotel is nowhere close to that. We saved a lot of money staying here but still had the quality we enjoy.|10) Staff was friendly and helpful. Great concierge, front desk people, wait staff in restaurant even the valet guys were knowledgeable and helpful. The tallest valet is Curtis who was uber friendly and gave great directions every day.||I am definitely coming back||Melissa Radin

Stayed here this past weekend. It’s nice and close walk to everything we wanted to do. Parking is available and less expensive just down the street versus valet parking at the hotel. King bed was comfortable. Bathroom was small. No refrigerator. Everything was clean. Stayed on 12th floor, two rooms from the elevators and could hear them running, so not very quiet. Lots of other options close by, so if visiting again, would probably look for something less expensive and likely just as nice for us and our middle-class income.

DeSoto is located in a great spot near everything. The valet is convenient and the fastest I have ever experienced. The valet attendants are polite and professional, similar to the front desk. ||The facilities are good and the room nice. The pool is small but the pool area looked nice in the 2nd floor. There is a small cafe in the lobby which we visited. We did not eat at the hotel. ||Our room (315) was not quiet. We could hear our neighbors speak at a normal voice, answer their phone, watching tv and even sneeze. I guess they could hear us too. Luckily, our neighbors went to sleep around 11pm like us… the front staff texted us to check how our stay was going and I let them know about the noise with absolutely no response. They were responsive with my request for a forgotten toothbrush. I would stay at this hotel again but I would request a quiet room in a different floor.

The hotel is fine. The rooms are nice. Some issues:
1. Food. There is no place to eat lunch. The restaurant is closed at 11. The bar is closed all day until 4p. There is a coffee bar that has only coffee and maybe pound cake. Even then, the coffee bar hours are inconsistent. I went three times and twice there was nothing to eat. The third time they offered me pound cake.
Telling guests to go out and get something is a lazy and impractical solution. Every restaurant has a 20 minute wait and if there is a table it's a noisy crowded mess.
A hotel should have a place to get a sandwich. The average Comfort Inn off the highway has better lunch options that the DeSoto.
2. Fitness Center. There is a room that bears that name. A few dumbells. A recumbant bike that does not turn on. Two treadmills. One is unuseable because the mat slips even at low speed. It's a hazard. The other is ok.
3. No business center.

In sum, it's an OK hotel. A bit run down. Poor quality amenities. Living off its former glory.

Quite frankly, I had a more luxurious stay at a Comfort Inn off the highway the night before I arrived than I did at the DeSoto.

The bed was very comfortable, and the pillow was great. Charlie F in the hotel was just a delight. All were very welcoming. |The provided breakfast was a nice array of choices. All the fresh fruit was yummy. |Too bad it wasn’t warmer to enjoy the front porch/patio.

Great conference location. Attended AI Session at this lovely Hotel. Did not stay overnight. Easy valet service cost $28 for the day. Staff was polite and friendly. They did seem slightly understaffed for the size of the conference. We were treated to a breakfast and lunch buffet in a room adjacent to our meeting room. Food was above the quality i generally expect from these events. Staff struggled to keep the buffet refreshed of plates and food at times. The salmon at lunch was excellent. There were Bathrooms right outside our meeting rooms, but only 3 stalls each for two rooms with 100 attendees each. There were lines. As it was a tech conference we had computers. There were no outlets in the rooms, so there was a rush to get plugged in the hallway during breaks. Chairs were comfortable. Sight lines and audio were good. Temperature control was challenging. All in all a good conference. #savannah #desoto #AI #computer #realtor #holman #buffet #valet #access
