There is really nothing to do here, other than swim in the lake, which has a very small area that is roped off due to alligators or fish. I do love to fish, so that is a bonus for me however, there is not even a welcome center here. They do have a lodge and a restaurant, but that is being torn down and redone this December.

That should lead to a much higher review once the improvements are done to this park. If you like sitting on the lake in the heat, this is a perfect place for you, and thereโ€™s nothing wrong with it. Thereโ€™s just nothing except cypress, trees, and Alabama to see!

This is a hard one to rate accurately because the park is gorgeous with zero crowding, but due to repeated management changes, the facilities have not been well maintained. Personally I think itโ€™s worth the visit even staying in the rustic camps. You will see so much wildlife! We always see many deer, alligators, a fox family, and osprey, plus great fishing.
Cabin 2 is our favorite. All the cabins have beautiful lake views. The lodge no longer offers food, and there isnโ€™t really anywhere close to eat out either, so you will want to bring your meals with you. The cabins are equipped with basic kitchen supplies.

It was a great place to visit. The lake is beautiful. There are going to be some renovations. The lodge is torn down. They are putting 5 new cottages in. The old cottages are being moved closer to the lake and all redone. So, by 2026, everyone will see a whole new park! I can't wait ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜€

CLOSED due to construction! Wasnโ€™t posted online, so we headed over to ride our bikesโ€ฆ.The Lake boat ramp area WAS open. We found the visitor center up the road, and the friendly staff member at the Visitor Center, said we could ride the trails bikes there. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผ

Loved our cabin and our view from the cabin. If you don't have a boat, you can rent one or just fish from the dock. There's a swing set by the cabins and a playground right down the road. Plus there's a golf course nearby. Really great place to get away!

I don't recommend the restaurant. We ordered take out from the restaurant located in the lodge on our first night (Pilot House Grille Restaurant) It was good. Chicken fingers were great. Wings were good. Breakfast there is a different story. The fruit was rotten. You think the first day.. Maybe it's a mistake. But they put out rotten fruit again the next morning. Plus there was a piece of paper in the grits. We ate in the restaurant for dinner. Don't expect refills. Food was mediocre. Mashed potatoes were terrible. The low quality food is way overpriced. I think there's a couple of other restaurants in the area. Which we might try next time. Best advice would be to cook your own food in your cabin or grill.

This is a very quaint place. Very quiet kind of secluded. Not busy during the week. We came just to get away from all the hostel and bustle at home and just relaxed at the lodge. They also have cottages as well.
