We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Phenomenal Foods by Chef Holly for our wedding! One piece of advice for anyone considering Phenomenal Foods: be mindful of food portions. Their generosity is unmatched, but it’s worth discussing portion sizes to ensure everything is well-balanced for your guest count.

We ordered some food from Chef Holly for Thanksgiving because we were having a lot of family flying in. Everyone went crazy over her food! I usually get honey baked ham but had ordered a Ham from Holly and let me tell you, I will no longer be ordering honey baked ham! The taste you can’t even compare!! Amazing! We got the sweet potatoes suffle, collard greens, peas and rice as well as the ham and now she is def my go to!! Thank you so much for making thanksgiving amazing for my Family!!

I attended an event where Phenomenal Food was the caterer and I was extremely impressed. The food was hot, fresh, & seasoned to perfection…just DELICIOUS! They had a beautiful buffet setup and the staff members were diligent in their tasks, friendly, accomodating, & very professional. I have been referring them to everyone I know business and personal for any upcoming events they may be having. I just had to come show appreciation as I am sure this company help contribute to the successful outcome of the event.

My sister booked Chef Holly and her team for her wedding and they disappointed us. During cocktail hour the staff was moving so slow to feed guests. They would bring out 10 pieces of food at a time to a crowd of 200 ppl. The food during cocktail hour was COLD…COLD Like c’mon. Food temperature is IMPORTANT! They failed to feed the bridesmaid until asked to do so. They did not accommodate the wedding party or make sure we were fed. The staff was arguing with family members. The catering cost a LOT of money and it’s just disappointing that small accommodations weren’t made. We tried to feed the hairstylist & makeup artist and the staff rushed them to take their food so they could take up the plates the food was served on.

We work with this company all the time with our clients are love them! I would definitely recommend PF for any event. The chicken and waffles, smoked salmon cones, salmon and steak are top notch! I recommend Meshia as the EM she is extremely knowledgable and professional. The food is hot and seasoned.

I would recommend PFBCH as a caterer for corporate, birthdays and weddings. I recommend a tasting bc there are so many options it's hard to choose. Meshia is extremely professional and will direct you to ensure your menu reflects well. My clients love the tomahawk steak, salmon, Mac n cheese and collard greens, chicken and waffles, smoked salmon cones, fried fish bites and kale salad. Chef is culturally trained and can truly deliver.

(11/4) I hoped I wouldn't have to make this review. This caterer is preferred for the Biltmore Ballrooms, so we had no choice but to use them. Aside from the missteps in professionalism, the food was ok. A bit salty and overcooked. It was indeed salty at the tasting and we noted that as feedback. I suppose it fell on deaf ears.

I try my best to be patient, understanding, and supportive of black businesses. I cannot recommend this caterer, especially if you are having a wedding with culturally obligated food. Our wedding was Nigerian. There were several red flags and missteps leading up to the wedding and at the event itself. Several times during the contracting process, mistakes and discrepancies were made.

We had to redo things several times. We looked past that in the hopes that it was all simple mistakes. During the initial vetting process, before signing the contracts, they told us that they were not strong at making Nigerian cultural foods, so we asked if we could have them serve the food the groom's family needed to bring to fulfill the cultural obligations. They charged us an extra waiver fee to serve the food, which was fine. They just wanted to ensure the food would be up to temperature if they served it. All was well. On the day of, they refused to serve the food, and the Biltmore building manager had to tell them it was OK for them to do so. The Nigerian caterer made the food on site to fulfill their obligation of being up to temperature. They still refused to serve it until the Biltmore intervened. They didn't tell our guests that the groom's family had provided some food when it was finally served. My mother asked one of the servers what the food was, and the staff said, “I don't know. I'm just serving it.” Additionally they burnt the cultural food.

Even if they didn't know what the food was, they could have at least noted it was food provided by the family. That would have been bare minimum. I suggest staff training in professionalism. The additional grievances were the fact that the staff was unpleasant. My stepfather requested they could bring the bridal party cocktail food because they hadn't eaten all day. The staff said, “I'm just bringing them out. I don't know.” They were just unpleasant. We paid them too much money for them to be so disagreeable. I'm unsure where the communication breakdown was, but we have kept things cordial every time we've addressed them, regardless of how argumentative they would be when they responded. If people ask genuine questions for clarity, especially given several mistakes made by this caterer along the way, that shouldn't be a reason to get defensive. They argued with my husband, with his aunt, and with his uncle. They were rude to my parents which has me so incredibly disappointed.

The staff was rude and not accommodating. They rushed while we were eating the bridal suite. The food was cold which was surprising given they gave us so much issue about food temperatures with the outside caterer. The cocktail hour food came out so slow. Guests were so hungry.

There was no need to be contentious when we were respectful and transparent in our expectations. They could have refused our business during the vetting process and we would have moved on to another vendor with no questions asked or hard feelings. Incredibly insensitive to our cultural needs and obligations, which is disappointing given POC run this business. If you are having a wedding with culturally obligated food or want a pleasant catering experience in general, I cannot soundly suggest that anyone go with this caterer. You are better off paying the Biltmore penalty fee and going with an outside caterer. I want to emphasize that again, they could have refused our business on several occasions.

Definitely a go to if you’re looking for a step above regular wedding menus! I appreciate Chef Holly’s dedication to staple cuisines across the diaspora, which was a draw in choosing her for our Jamaican/Creole wedding menu. We had collard green spring rolls (a fan favorite), heart shaped chicken and waffles, jerk chicken, rice and peas, and gumbo! I appreciated the teams willingness to create vegan options as well. Excited to partner with them again for our upcoming baby shower.
