Best Western Gwinnett Center Hotel - Duluth, Georgia

Check in was at 3pm at the Duluth GA Best Western hotel and we arrived at 4:06pm…just an hour after regular check in time. We were greeted by Rob/Runi provided him with our credentials, asked if we could have an room upgrade and he stated there was an extra charge for Diamond members of $15 but if we really wanted the upgrade he could do it for $10 (never had to barter for a room before). We told him when we stay at other Best Western hotels they give us the upgrade for free. He followed up with the comment, “ We’re booked to near capacity” which we didn’t know why he said that after offering to charge us for the upgrade. We declined the upgrade but reminded him we would like a room away from the noisy elevator. After signing the paperwork, he assigned us room 124. We asked how close was it to the elevator and he said about 3 doors away. Actually, it was 2 door away from the elevator AND directly across from the cleaning staff room. The cleaning staff is usually loud communicating with each other and they slam doors without any regard to the patrons so we walked back to the registration desk and asked for another room. He assigned room 322, we retrieved the key and noticed 122 was ACROSS FROM THE ELEVATOR 😕. Being tired and exhausted driving from Charlotte NC and handling the business we were here for, we just refused to go back to Rob/Roni regarding his incompetence and lack of customer service skills and just decided to take the room. The room had a musty smell which we fixed after sanitizing it with Lysol for the bed and surfaces and Clorox cleanup for the tub and toilet. We decided to take a shower and found the tub had poor drainage. The water from a 6 minute shower was nearly around my ankles, totally nasty standing in dirty water after washing myself clean. It was too late to call the front desk to have them clean the drain so I just let the dirty water out and proceeded to rinse off again. 😞 We wanted to relax after our shower and watch television before going to sleep. That was a mistake because the channels only went up to channel 22 and anything pass that didn’t work. We shut the television off since it was impossible to watch something we liked and went to sleep. Check out is at noon but we will probably be awakened by everyone getting up for breakfast or getting on the elevator to check out. We won’t know until in the morning. Praying for a good night of sleep before check out and/or breakfast tomorrow.

We won’t ever stay at THIS Best Western again and Rob needs customer service and listening skills training since he “robbed” us of a good experience during our stay at the Duluth GA Best Western Hotel. Should’ve stayed at Marriott or Hilton since we have memberships there but since it was only one night and we’d NEVER had any issues in the past, we chose BW.

Everything was a wonderful experience I would recommend to stay here to everybody. The best customer service a wonderful breakfast. In great staff. Stayed in room 218. Everyone on all shifts at the front desk was so warm and welcoming.

I was expecting a stellar stay after seeing so many good reviews, but ultimately this location was a letdown. For the price of our room, we didn’t get what we paid for.|The saving grace of the hotel was the comfort and cleanliness of the bedroom area of the room but its bathroom was terrible. The tub appeared to be an older jacuzzi tub that someone tried to patch up. There was plaster thrown over the spray holes leaving rough, dirty jagged edges. The shower walls had filthy grout between the tiles. The showerhead was clogged with white mineral deposits. The water pipes were loud and whiney. As if the management didn’t care , there was a cheap wire hanging basket for the soap. The sink had rust in it. |I get it. It’s an older hotel. But the whole vibe of the bathroom was that it was in some cheap, sleazy motel. Not what I expected from Best Western. |To cap it off, when I reached for the shampoo bottle it was nearly empty. Apparently it was used and no one bothered to change it. |Our breakfast was average. There was no attendant and the milk pitcher was empty. The food choices were cold and lacking. |Normally I might give an average rating for a stay like this, but the bathroom conditions and the price we paid to stay here didn’t mesh. I guess the old saying is true - if you have no expectations, you will be less disappointed.

Positive: The location and price can't be beat! We appreciated having a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Negative: The hotel is pretty dated and could use some renovation. The faucet switch was very difficult to switch to overhead shower. On the last day as we were packing up and surveyed the room, found many garbage items, like candy wrappers, under the bed.

4.5 stars! This location is conveniently located in Duluth near Walmart, Costco, and plenty of restaurants. The hotel is quiet and safe. The front desk staff was cordial and was able to answer some questions I had about the area. I would recommend Best Western Duluth to anyone looking for a budget friendly place to stay.

Nice hotel. Clean. Great complimentary breakfast and attentive staff. Elevator was out of service during my stay. 3rd floor room was nice but taking the stairs on my arrival and departure was taxing with luggage

Reserved 3 night stay through hopper. Walked in room Checked behind mirror. I always check the rooms.. As I was checking behind mirror noticed mirror moved. Behind mirror whole wall gone. I got scared and left before i could even put my belonging down . Staff provided refund well I had to go through hopper. Both refunded. booked another hotel. Didn’t like the inside hall ways. Side door entrances hella sketchy. Muggy inside building. Elevator had note staying no more then 4 allowed at a time. Stairs sketchy. All around bad experience.
WOMEN BEWARE! There was no closet behind that mirror, straight hole.. No sure what they got going on in that hotel..

5 stars all around. Room was very clean, staff very friendly. I had a small issue with the computer chair and they replaced it for me ASAP. Location is excellent in regards to dining options. 10/10 would stay here again.
