A slow Wednesday evening was my first visit. The menu has some entertaining variations on common foods. I tried the pollo poblano and the maduros appetizer. The idea of cheese on maduros isn't my thing, but it was well done. The chicken was fabulous. A poblano stuffed with peppers, onions, and shrimp covered in a flattened chicken breast and hugged in cheese is heaven. The staff was helpful and friendly. All in all a great place for a nontraditional bite.

I ordered a taco salad from here today and they messed up my food. When I got my food there was pork inside, I ordered a chicken taco salad. I went back to ask them about my food and they didn’t even care about it, and they didn’t even apologize and only said the chef messed up the food.

Angel makes the best margaritas in town! Food has always been good as well. Thanks for the great service! Second visit with large party of 20 went perfect. Best Hispanic food in Watkinsville!

The food is really bad; you can tell they use low-quality ingredients or try to make the dishes as cheap as possible. People close to the owners constantly mention that the servers don’t get paid, receive bad checks, have a high percentage of their tips taken away, and that the alcohol licenses are not renewed.

The place has a nice decor, but it already looks neglected and dirty, with many aesthetic details left abandoned. Despite this, the servers provide excellent service, which makes it even sadder to know they work in a place with such poor treatment and unfair conditions.

Tried it for the first time tonight and had a great experience. The service was friendly and very quick and helpful. I tried the Birria bowl which was extremely delicious and a very hearty portion. Seating was plentiful and comfortable. Will come back.

We dropped by after a morning of shopping and loved what we found. Not only was the food great, but we noticed something that truly impressed us. The owners were both present and working the day after Christmas, and I do mean working. These gentlemen were doing everything from greeting guests, cleaning tables, delivering food to tables, and working in the kitchen. David and Eduardo truly care about their business and it shows. They even have their mission statement in the front entry area.

Make sure you give them a try when you are out at Wire Park.

Edit 10/22/23: They updated their menu which apparently also meant updating their chips and salsa/dips. They now charge $5/dip when the guacamole dip used to be free with the chips. The new salsa is mediocre at best. The chips, as well as the tortillas, had a plastic/chemical after taste. We couldn’t even finish our meal. Not to mention, the entire menu is extremely pricey ($30 for 2 people and that was with ordering waters and no dips/appetizers). They also now have an 84 food score (down from 100 when I originally left my first review a few months ago). Unfortunately, today will probably be our last visit to Lalo’s. Very disappointing.

April 2023: Really not sure why there are so many negative reviews here. Mainly people complaining about a wait time (which is standard at good restaurants) or food pricing- these are not “real” complaints. My husband and I had a wonderful experience here! We arrived at 6pm on a Friday, walked in with no wait. There were SO many staff members, never had an issue with getting anything we needed (drinks, appetizer, bill, etc). Pricing seemed fair compared to other restaurants in the area. The vibe was really fun and swanky. Very clean, and they had a 100 food score which made me very comfortable knowing the food and kitchen were safe and clean! I ordered the chicken fajitas and it was such a huge portion, I had plenty to take home for leftovers. So good! We will definitely be back and will be bringing more people with us next time to enjoy the experience. We love supporting local! Also, check out that sunset that’s visible from the restaurant outdoor eating area! Can’t beat the views and location of this place.

Food was good and the service was great but be aware if you go that when they are having live entertainment (singing duo) you will not be able to carry on a conversation without yelling and saying huh? and what? dozens of times - it was LOUD! We had a brief respite when the duo took breaks but it really interfered with the ability to have a conversation with anyone if they were not immediately next to you.
