Stopped by this quaint cafe on my way to work. I had always drove past this place while commuting to work over the past 5 years and decided finally to check it out. It was around 3pm when I arrived and there wasn’t any customers around inside or outside. An employee sitting at a window side table sprang up when I entered and cordially welcomed me in and took my order. I decided to get a small golden latte which was their signature drink and a Pao de Quiejo, a Brazilian cheese puff. The latte came out looking and tasting great. There was a nice design in the foam that made felt guilt for trying to break it apart. The coffee underneath it was smooth and just right in terms of caffeine. The cheese puff was also quite something with a slightly toasted outside, but a warm and soft inside that tasted good. Both inside and outside sitting provide good views of Clairmont Road while sipping on a cup of coffee. Overall a good first impression of the cafe. Would love to try their other items in the future.

2024 Update: I like to come back to places that people rave about and I didn’t give a good review to, so I came back and had my standard Americano and a banana muffin. One person behind the counter, so if a small group descends upon the place, expect a reasonable wait for individual service. Coffee was spectacular and the banana muffin was warmed and moist. Limited selection of beer, alcohol and food. Nice atmosphere with Latino music, indoor and outdoor seating. Service was very friendly. Nice place to meet a fried for coffee.
2023 Review: (originally 3-stars) Nice coffee shop but nothing special in a very crowded coffee house sector. I was hoping for Cuban or other extra special native coffee drinks. Empanadas were nice but ours didn’t have much filling. Service was very good and friendly. I had their signature Golden Latte that was nice. My wife had a cold weak mint tea accompanied with our empanadas for around $20. Nice at most and artwork around this former Arby’s building.

Golden Drops is a must visit cafe!! Do not miss it. The food is amazing (highly recommend the Cuban sandwich and the empanadas, they also have delicious cupcakes). This is a family owned cafe of proud Dominicans and it’s so nice to support a great member of the Decatur / Emory communities. The coffee is also amazing! Sourced from all over the world and with delicious spices and flavors. I love doing homework here and relaxing. I can’t recommend it enough! What an incredible cafe!

So happy to stumble upon this great little coffee spot. I ordered an Americano with sugar and steamed cream... it was smooth and flavorful. I am an empanada lover and always in search of places that serve good homemade empanadas.

I ordered the beef empanada which had nice flavor and also the ham and cheese empanada which was also very good...but could use a little more ham in my opinion. But they were light, crispy and well made.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience and I would definitely come again for the coffee and empanadas.

One of my favorite places to have a coffee and sit outside. Chill atmosphere and I like that they offer some small bites. My partner and I had our first date here and it holds a special place in my heart. Only small downside is they don’t have a public restroom. Plan accordingly!

Good coffee and service in an iconic setting.

This old building was an Arby's when I was a kid and over the years it has morphed into a number of different things. I love that it has its original structure, which is odd. Additionally the inside has a lot of the original structure, including the Arby's bullhead on the floor. It has a cozy inside and a large covered patio that extends toward the street.

The service here is pleasant. They move along at a steady pace and are friendly.

The coffee is a thick syrupy espresso that is more common in the caribbean. They also have a number of lattes and teas and that sort of usual coffee stuff. They have a menu of some snacks and more in the pastry case but nothing that is gluten-free and dairy-free.

This is a great date spot if you're interested in something a little retro and great to talk about.

If they had some gluten-free stuff, I would be by here more often.

We decided to give this place a try after passing it by too many times. I'm sorry it took us so long to go! The coffee was great (I had a very smooth, delicious Americano, my wife had the signature Golden Latte). We also tried their sampler. Everything was great. Victor was charming and informative. He was running things by himself, so there was a bit of a wait, but he gave everyone attention and did a great job with the food and drinks. It's charming and lovely. Go.
