Never a disappointment at Gelston House. Recently met some friends to catch up in the cozy bar. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere were all on point (per usual). We are very happy they are back from winter break and look forward to the spring and summer months ahead. The outside patio and river views are a whole different vibe. I highly recommend this establishment in all seasons and for all occasions. They have so much to offer, you will keep coming back for more. You’re welcome in advance. Enjoy!

My wife and I've been coming to the Gelston House for many years, during the summer we sit outside on the patio this time around we were inside as we were seeing a show at the Goodspeed opera house which is next door. The food and service are always top-notch, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The views here are great overlooking the river as well as some of the historic buildings in the area. The dining area is neat, clean, and always well decorated especially this time of the year during the holidays when we went. I definitely recommend this place whether you stop in during the summer and hang out outside or swing by during the holiday seasons to see the decorations and have a wonderful meal you won't go wrong.

Fist time I go there place for Christmas party. Place is really nice. Appetizers are really good. The ceasar salad is horrible would not recommend is dry and croutons are salty. I have the cod for my entree and it was delicious, I also have a apple martini, I really wanted a French martini but the waiter says that they run out of the stuff to make it. I lady that met at the party recommended a key lime martini and that one was really good. The cheesecake was also really good but I did like better the carrot cake that they also run out that. Overall I give 3 stars because even though it looks like a nice place and all but they seem to run out of a lots of stuff.

We went to dinner at the Gelston House last night. The food was delicious (crab cakes, sordfish, steak, coffee with bailey's). The service was great. The manager came over to our table and talked to us for a bit, a very nice guy, everyone was very pleasant. The restaurant was packed, and food was delivered promptly. Beautiful building and clear view of the river. We will come back.

Was not able to order a cheeseburger in the main dining room while my wife ordered a complete dinner. I’ve done this for 15 years before we enjoy a play at Goodspeed. New manager and no one cared. Long time customers. UNBELIEVABLE!

The food was delicious as usual. Our server was sort of an airhead, though. He was very pleasant but did not do anything unless we specifically asked and then reminded him. Then, at one point, we, and diners at another table asked if the window shade could be lowered because we were being blinded. While attempting to lower the shade, he pulled the entire thing down onto the people sitting by the window.

Always an amazing meal with a spectacular view of the water .. shaded seating or sunny , the inside is beautiful also with a view of the Opera House and Ct River.. favorite place to dine !
