My husband and I were traveling to Salisbury for a dear friend's memorial. After learning of the date belatedly, we were so fortunate to discover the Earl Grey B&B in the middle of peak season! This was our first travel trip other than our camper since Covid, so we were a bit nervous, but felt comfortable from the start. Richard and Patricia met us as soon as we arrived after our long day on the road, and helpfully recommended restaurants close by, We stayed two nights in the lovely Garden Suite, and could not have enjoyed it more. We were charmed by the décor of the spotless rooms, reveled in the comfortable bed with its crisp sheets, and were delighted with the extra touches of spring water, fresh fruit, chocolates and Keurig coffees and teas. We enjoyed sitting on our private porch in the evenings, watching the hummingbirds feed on the nearby trumpet vines. The house and it's lovely garden are a short walk from main street, yet completely hidden from town. We had wonderful weather and slept with our windows open and found it to be peacefully quiet. Yes, I very faintly heard the chime of a clock, and thought it was a Grandfather clock in the house somewhere, Perhaps it did not bother me as we have one that chimes every quarter hour as well, but I am a very light sleeper and still did not find it intrusive. My husband and I both highly recommend The Earl Grey, and would definitely stay there again if the need arose,

My husband and I recently spent our second stay at this charming B&B and are looking forward to more such visits! The owners, Patricia and Richard Boyle are as delightful, helpful, informative, accommodating||interesting and interested hosts as one could wish to encounter, while respecting one's privacy. The house is simply exquisite as are the accommodations: beautiful, immaculate, serene, quiet...with the charming pre-revolutionary town of Salisbury moments away, just at the foot of the road. The Sweet William shop for coffee and baked goods hit the spot every time, and I'm sure the restaurants would have proven the same, had we indulged. The bedroom/bathroom en suite was sparkling clean, tended to each day with fresh towels and amenities. I'm eager for our next visit.

My husband has stayed at this thoroughly charming B&B on several occasions during the past few years. This year, I am SO glad that I was able to join him. It is as delightful as he had described! Patricia and Richard are warm and welcoming hosts. My husband has always stayed in The Cottage...and now I understand his attraction...it is quaint, cozy, and comfortable...and the bed was beyond comfortable...I haven’t slept so soundly in ages!!! For those who have never visited Salisbury...it is a quintessential New England town...a very special place on earth. And this B&B is literally a stone’s throw away.

The house is beautiful, full of original art and interesting photographs. The decor is also wonderful, a mix of mid century modern and classic. ||I did a two-day/evening stay in the 1-room . Everything in the room was perfectly arranged and everything showed great thoughtfulness for the comfort and convenience of guests. And everything was spotlessly clean. I would say this is the nicest setup I’ve experienced in the area. It is an old historic house, but it’s well maintained. If you want new everything this is not the place for you. But I’d you want style, charm, and a well run property, this is perfect. ||||I noticed another review mentioned a noisy town bell. My own home is in a very quiet neighborhood, so I am light easily awoken sleeper. Noisy locales can be a challenge when I’m trying to sleep. Therefore, I was a bit apprehensive about it based on another reviewer who was kept awake all night. Honestly, I found the bell just barely audible from inside the house/room, and it was so quiet the bell didn’t bother me in the least during my stay.||||I should mention the hosts are delightful people. If you have some time, it’s worthwhile to get to know them. ||||There is only one downside I could think up, which won’t matter to most guests. I am rather allergic to cats, and the moment I walked in the front door my allergies were triggered. I never saw the cat, nor a single cat hair during my entire stay. Yet, it is the only explanation for a runny nose and itchy eyes which manifest themselves only while in the house. This is a non-issue for me as next time I’ll just bring some Claritin. Worth it to stay at this lovely B&B with such charming hosts. ||||I intend to be a regular at the Earl Grey.

Travelling to the Salisbury/Lakeville area for a party, we needed a good||spot to stay, but for just 2 nights. White Hart, Interlaken, etc. demanded at||least 3 nights in season. Lucky for us we found the Early Grey. Charming,||erudite and informed hosts, wonderful breakfasts on the porch, and comfy||beds. The only thing we didn't care for was carpeting in the bathroom. Highly||recommended nonetheless.

We see that there are many positive reviews of this B & B, and that they are a few years old. We regret that our experience in early September 2017 was not good. ||||The accommodations - a sitting room and bedroom on the first floor, adjacent to a lovely garden- unfortunately had a strong musty odor. Though neither of us suffers from allergies, we were both congested within a half hour. We went out to dinner, recovered, returned to the room and soon had stuffy noses again. ||||The bed was lumpy. There are several layers of mattress pads and a topper on the bed, but they do not compensate for the old mattress, which is flattened and folded in on itself on the sides. The carpets need cleaning. ||||There were nice touches. Though we knew that the hosts would be away while we were there, we appreciated that they left the rooms open for us and left grapes, chocolates, and a pitcher of water. We thought of asking for a different room, but did not see anyone else during our stay. ||||Because the problem with mold or mildew that is causing the strong odor creates an unhealthy environment, we cannot recommend the Earl Grey.

A beautiful house that is immaculate but very "homely" and comfortable. Susan & Richard are a most pleasant and engaging couple who offer the most friendly and perfect service. This is does not have the atmosphere of a typical "B&B", this is like staying with good friends.
