It was train heaven at the Flagstaff Visitor Center. We had two freight trains come through while we were there which was an added bonus. So many train souvenirs; I had to exercise serious restraint to avoid going broke in minutes. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Don't forget to ask for the Secret Route 66 Passport; it's free!

The snow covered the route 66 emblem in the parking area but inside the visitor’s center, there’s a cute route 66 neon light. Must stop if you’re into trains and historic buildings, both checked the list. Plenty of brochures, travel guides and route 66 souvenirs. However, like someone mentioned in the reviews, the ladies were not welcoming and were just busy with themselves.

My mother and I arrived into Downtown Flagstaff for our Airbnb and to see the Route 66 by Flagstaff Visitor Center from Grand Canyon National Park. The time we made it to see the Route 66 on the ground, the Visitor Center was closed but we don’t mind at all.

Nice gift shop here. They share the building with Amtrak train company and the train stops here twice a day you can go west to Los Angeles or you can take it east to Chicago. A shuttle van 🚍 stops here and they take you to the airport in Phoenix , "Sky harbor international " . A great place to visit if you want to see and take pictures of trains because 70 to 100 BNSF Freight trains pass by every day ! There is a live video camera outside that is recording and listening to your conversation 24 / 7 and anyone around the world can see you on YouTube , " Virtual Railfan Flagstaff, " Railroading in the high desert ". This camera is a live recording that faces the railroad tracks and watches mostly Amtrak customers getting on and off when the train stops in Flagstaff. Warning ⚠

My wife and I visited the center today Nov. 12 at 12:50 pm. We entered the facility to find three ladies sitting behind the counter, one looking at food on the computer, one looking at another computer, and one was unwrapping products. We walked around the entire counter and store looking at merchandise and brochures. Out of the three employees, not one bothered to look up at us, greet us, or ask us if we needed any help! We were never spoken to and came within two feet of the center counter around all sides. I find this not a good impression of a "Visitors Center". The place was nice and well stocked, however, in my opinion, if you are in the hospitality business, and particularly in a "Visitor's Center" you should be kind, welcoming and helpful. Left a bad taste in our mouths for the area. Whomever is in charge should train these ladies to be more engaging with the visitors and helpful. With that said, the town is really nice and has a lot to offer.

Cool gift shop and info location. They have a pressed penny machine if u collect. They also have a train that goes around the top of the space. You can start it for a quarter from the corner back wall. It is also a great place to see a train go by.
